The map below describes two potential locations for supermarket which will be built in the future in the town of Garlsdon.
The first possible location(S1) is outside the town of Garlsdon. Beside, it lies near the main road to Hindon, and is separated the Hindon, about 12kms to the north-west. This site is in the countryside, so has more area to build and can accommodate a lot of parking. Shoppers from Hindon and Garlsdon can easily come here by car or train because it is also close to the railway line and main roads .In addition, people who live in Cransdon(25 km to the southeast) can go shopping in there by train. So it attracts a potentially large number of shoppers from three towns Hindon ( population 10 000) , Garlson (population 65 000) and Cransdon (population 29 000).
In contrast, the second location,S2, is in the town centre, which would be good for local people who from the surrounding towns can go shopping by main road or rail. But There is no traffic zone in central area, so cars would be unable to park and shopping would be difficult.
Overall, the out of town site (S1) isn’t appropriate for all towns, but for customers in Cransdon, Hindon and Garlsdon, it would probably offer more advantages.
