F-35 Will Not Reach Full Close-Air-Support Potential Until 2022

    Mar 09, 2015 | by Kris Osborn
The Air Force has done some electronics testing with the SDB II and the F-35A and done a successful "fit" test to ensure the weapon can be carried in the internal weapons bay by the aircraft, JSF officials said. However, the weapon will need the JSF program's 4a software drop before it can be operational on the F-35A – and that is not slated to happen until 2022.

The JSF office has already discovered that the SDB II does not fit onto the F-35B -- the Marine Corps variant -- without modifications to the aircraft's weapons bay. The Pentagon is not in a rush to make those changes before the F-35B reaches initial operating capability this year because the weapon won't work until the right software package is installed.

Published on The Official Home of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (http://www.dsca.mil)
Australia – GBU-39 (Small Diameter Bomb Increment I)
    Media/Public Contact:
    pm-cpa@state.gov
    Transmittal No:
    16-23
WASHINGTON, Apr. 6, 2016 - The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to Australia for GBU-39 (Small Diameter Bomb Increment I) and associated equipment, training, and support. The estimated cost is $386 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale on April 4, 2016.

The Government of Australia has requested a possible sale of:

    Major Defense Equipment (MDE):
Up to 2,950 GBU-39/B Small Diameter Bomb I (SDB I)
Up to 50 Guided Test Vehicles (GTV) with GBU-39 (T-1)/B (Inert Fuze)

This request also includes the following Non-MDE: containers, weapons system support equipment, support and test equipment, site survey, transportation, repair and return warranties, spare and repair parts, publications and technical data, maintenance, personnel training, and training equipment, U.S. Government and contractor representative engineering, logistics, and technical support services, and other related elements of logistics support.

The total estimated value of MDE is $172 million. The total overall estimated value is $386 million.

Australia is one of our most important allies in the Western Pacific. The strategic location of this political and economic power contributes significantly to ensuring peace and economic stability in the region. This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a major contributor to political stability, security, and economic development in the Pacific region and globally.

The sale of SDB I supports and complements the on-going sale of the F-35 to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). This capability will strengthen combined operations and increase interoperability between the U.S. Air Force and the RAAF. Australia will have no difficulty absorbing this equipment into its armed forces.

The proposed sale of this equipment will not alter the basic military balance in the region.

The principal contractor for production is Boeing in St. Louis, Missouri. The principal contractor for integration is unknown and will be determined during contract negotiations. There are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale.

Implementation of this proposed sale will not require the assignment of any ad***ional U.S. or contractor representatives to Australia.

There will be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale.

This notice of a potential sale is required by law and does not mean the sale has been concluded.

All questions regarding this proposed Foreign Military Sale should be directed to the State Department's Bureau of Political Military Affairs, Office of Congressional and Public Affairs, pm-cpa@state.gov.

    -------------------
Congress looks at re-starting the F-22 Raptor program

(CNN)A week after Russian military aircraft buzzed dangerously close to U.S. Navy ships and Air Force spy planes, Congress is considering bringing back production of stealthy F-22 Raptor air-to-air fighter jets.
Lawmakers have tacked a provision onto a defense bill that will determine how much it would cost and how difficult it would be to ramp up production of the Air Force's fifth generation dogfighter. They also want to know about possible options for exporting F-22s to allies. Currently, exporting Raptors is illegal.
"This assessment will ensure we have a meaningful debate about U.S. air superiority," said Rep. Mike Turner, R-Ohio, chairman of a subcommittee that's trying to add the provision. "In light of growing threats from a resurgent Russia and an aggressive China, further exploration into restarting the F-22 line is deserved."

In 2009, then-Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced he was shutting down production of the Raptor, saying they were too pricey, at $412 million per plane, according to the Government Accountability Office. By the time the last one went out the door, Lockheed Martin had produced 188 of 749 the Pentagon originally planned to buy.

The newest U.S. fighter, the F-35 Lightning II — which is only now beginning to enter the military and is not fully combat ready nor battle tested like the F-22 -- has a cost-per-plane ranging from $98 million to $116 million. The Raptor is better at air-to-air missions than the F-35, according to the F-35 website. The F-35's specialty is air-to-ground capability. Both planes have had their own widely reported sets of development challenges.

The subcommittee's provision doesn't mention any specific countries, but it does call for exploring new production "in light of growing threats to U.S. air superiority as a result of adversaries closing the technology gap and increasing demand from allies and partners for high-performance, multirole aircraft to meet evolving and worsening global security threats."
The subcommittee recommended adding nearly $6 billion to the bill to address modernization shortfalls across the board.
The "restart the raptor movement" has been bubbling up for a while.
In March, The Aviationist said restarting the Raptor program would be smarter than developing a new generation fighter. It suggested adding some of the cutting edge features of the F-35, like its helmet-mounted instrument display.
Skeptics say the F-22's stealth technology and its other major systems are too old for it to be revived as a truly valuable weapons system.
American military rivals China and Russia are already moving forward, developing their own new fighters. And the Air Force has already started a fighter jet program designated "F-X". It's possible that Pentagon war planners may push back if Congress chooses to go retro and bring back the Raptor.
The full House Armed Services Committee is scheduled to consider the subcommittee provision later this month.

Cháu đếch biết cái đếch gì cả, bạn đầu Úc tính mua F-35B + SDB II đấy cháu, nhưng vì SDB II và F-35B chưa sử dụng được

Australia Abandons Proposal To Order F-35B
    Jul 8, 2015
    http://aviationweek.com/defense/australia-abandons-proposal-order-f-35b

As I reported last year (See: “Oops: US Close-Air Support Bomb Doesn’t Fit on the F-35”), the F-35B variant had difficulties fitting the SDB II, an upgraded variant of the SDB I, into its truncated weapons bay without modifications. (The A and C variants of the F-35 feature larger weapons bays.) The entire fleet of F-35 will not receive the software required to operate the SDB II until at least 2022.
    http://thediplomat.com/2016/04/australia-buys-new-precision-guided-glide-bomb-for-f-35/

    Applications/Platforms:

The GBU-39 SDB-I is fielded on the B-1B Lancer, the B-2A Spirit, the F-15E Strike Eagle, the F-16 Fighting Falcon, the F-22 Raptor, and is currently being integrated on the F-35 Lightning II.

The GBU-39 SDB-II will be fielded on the F-15E Strike Eagle and the F-35 Lightning II. Objective aircraft include the B-1B Lancer, the B-2A Spirit, the B-52 Stratofortress, the F-16 Fighting Falcon, the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, the F-22 Raptor, and the MQ-9 Reaper. The AC-130 Gunship is being considered as an ad***ional objective platform.

As of early 2005 the Navy had no plan to buy small diameter bomb SDB I, but was looking at the development efforts for SDB II. The Navy is likely to wait for SDB 2 until JSF enters service. The FY 2005 budget began production for the Air Force as well as follow-on development and beginning development for integration on Navy aircraft.

    http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/munitions/sdb.htm

Thầy đã nói, Úc chưa nhận được bất kì chiếc F-35 nào, vì vậy mua SDB I, II cũng đều là rửa tiền, cháu bảo thầy nói sai, vậy cháu chứng minh đúng xem ? mấy ngày qua cháu đếch chứng minh được còn cố cãi cùn
