Topic 4: Some people believe that culture will be ruined if it is used to earn tourism revenue. But others consider that tourism is the only way of protecting a culture. Discuss both sides and give your own opinion.
Along with the development of society, more and more problems are brought to our attention, one of which is the effect of tourism develops to a country’s culture. Many claim that tourism will destroy the culture if it is used to earn money; however, there are also a sizeable percentage of people who strongly believe that culture can be preserved through the development of tourism. This essay will consider both sides of the issue from a cultural perspective.
It is undeniable that tourism help provide economic incentives to protect a country’s culture. Money earn from tourism can be used to repair or improve historical sites, so that it can be protected against weather and time. It will also help governments carry out campaigns to promote their cultures, such as holding festivals, advertising famous heritages on TV.
In ad***ion, the best way to prevent a culture from being faded away is to promote it worldwide, which can only be done through tourism. When a site is known widely, more and more people will be attracted and travel to the country. Once they get home, they will share their experience about the country’s tra***ional food, costumes or music with their friends and families. The more people understand about the culture, the more chances there is for it to last long over time.
Nevertheless, there are some disadvantages caused by tourism develops. A great number of people flock to a tourist attraction can damage to its appearance. For example, in Vietnam, after the time of an event or a festival, the place where it is held is always flooded by trash. Some people even draw on walls or cut tree branches to take home as souvenirs. By doing that, they are gradually destroying their culture as time passes. Moreover, a culture symbolizes a country’s tra***ion, customs and history, but with activities of tourism, it is now becoming a source of entertainment for tourists. Therefore, it will lead to the reduction of people’s respect to cultural values.
From what have been discussed above, one can conclude that a country can protect and improve its culture by tourism. In my opinion, despite any drawbacks, with the effort of the governments, the benefits of tourism can outweigh all those disadvantages.

Discuss.
As the gap between rich and poor nations is getting wider, international aid is causing worldwide concern. While aiding programs is regarded as a moral duty to assist countries in need, it is unnecessary because wasteful use of financial resources by recipient nations is recorded. This essay will elaborate the arguments for and against international aid.
There has a perception that hardly can donor countries keep close control of their financial resource to recipient ones so that aid money is sometimes spent on unintended destinations. In fact, billions of dollars are vanished, which might be resulted from their corrupt governments or inefficient administration. Another reason is that many foreign aid programs can be unsuitable for target countries or tackled by tight regulations. This leads to their failure of implementation after a few years although expensive specialized equipment and experts from donor countries are invested.
However, supporters of the provision of finance and equipment to other countries have their points in the belief that this activity can develop the economy and improve living standard of poor nations. It is undeniable that more and more foreign projects are conducted to help them build roads, bridges and other public infrastructure which make a contribution to strengthen transportation and trade. In ad***ion, only by receiving international aid, do developing countries eliminate hunger and reduce poverty in a short time as well as protect their independence in case of war. Furthermore, I also agree that these nations even the developed like Japan admitted that international assist is essential for their citizens to overcome serious diseases and natural disasters such as tsunami, earthquake and flood.
From what has been discussed above, one can reach a conclusion that aiding programs like humanitarian relief should be delivered to help nations under urgent circumstance. Although the abuse of international aid appears in some case, generally its effect is not serious and can be reduced.

Do you agree that modern technology has given us more leisure time than before?
Undoubtly, people are now enjoying the greatest technological boom times in human history. As society develops, people are attaching much importance to the correlation between technological progresses and leỉsure time. From my own perspective, it is huge improvements in modern technology which is limiting the people's leisure time.
There are numerous reasons why I hold this opinion, and I would explore a few of the most important ones here. The first reason that can be seen by every person is that leisure time refering to non compulsory activities have come to consume a larger proportion of people's after-work-life thus has in fact contracted due to modern technology. Jobs become demanding and require workers' full commitment, resulting in their depression and pressure. Underneath of facade of continued contraction of official working hours, employees are actually working longer, primary because of fax, email or other communication devices have made them accessible to their supervisors, colleagues and customers after work. They have to respond instantly to voice and email messages from others. Leisure time has to be sacrificed as consequence.
The second thing that must be taken into consideration is that while posing a threat on people's leisure lives, technologies on other occasions, give workers more flexibility incontrolling their work. The avability of various means of transport has released working people from lengthy commutes. The boundary between work and private life is likely more blurry as many employees shopping, checking private emails, reading newspaper and listening to music simultaneously even when working.
Based on the above discussion and analysis, we may finally draw the conclusion that the technology advances has tremendous influences on the lives of people continuously. While the achievements of technology enhance the activeness in managing work of people, they tie them in a circumstance to deal with more task in daily lives.

Do you agree or disagree?
In modern life the role of arts is very important. Therefore the government should pour much money into this field. However some people believe that only public services and facilities should be invested instead of waste of budget on the arts. I strongly agree with the former view for the following reasons.
Opponents are of the idea that public facilities are of certain economic benefits. It is undeniable the development of transport network like aviation, maritime and land way or the widespread of internet and other modern telecommunication infrastructures help people transport products and exchange information faster, then save time and money. Nevertheless, I believe that arts can also gain some economic merits for nation and citizens. Only by selling tickets of arts works and programs do people obtain million dollars every year. A stark example is the United State where Hollywood, the biggest film company on the word, gives a huge amount of tax to government budget thank to their gigantic income from film production. On the whole, pouring money into arts is one way of business development which brings much profit for us.
It is also argued that, public services but not arts can offer social and education benefits to society. Had it not been for the construction of social facilities such as libraries, parks, schools, playing fields children would never have had chance to cultivate crucial living skills like team work, leadership, time management and crucial thinking. However, the truth is that not only do arts help children to improve necessary skills from imagination, writing to speaking ones but it also is a way to reduce stress and refresh themselves. In ad***ion, early access to arts give people opportunities to deeply understand the historical and cultural value of their nation. Furthermore, it can be seen as a method to call on people action for our planet like protect environment, save energy. In other words, art activities are the important method to reach social and education purpose.
In conclusion, nations which spend money on arts but not only on social services will have more chances to improve their living standard. Apart from that, participation in the art work helps citizens to realize the value of their lives and country perceptively.

3.“Money can not buy happiness” it is often claimed. But with money you can buy most of the things that are necessary for happiness: good food, accommodation, entertainment, travel, quality health care… No wonder most people want to make as much money as possible. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Some people believe that money is the most important thing bringing happiness. Therefore, they try to earn as much money as possible to meet the needs such as good food, well-dressed, entertainment, quality health care... Personally, for several reasons explained below, i think that money can not buy happiness.

First of all, to make money means that we have to exchange many things. The most precious and valuable thing is time. We will spend time on our work instead of enjoying free time ourselves or with families or friends. Furthermore, it is wasteful to buy a luxurious and magnificent house that we are rarely in it because of staying at office or somewhere. Even if we are exhausted when having enough money to be treated at a leading hospital. After a long time, may be we will be losing more.

The second reason, money just makes sure that you have sufficient material life but it is never a measure of human value. Our pursuit of money will makes us forget the value of life such as honor, dignity, sometimes true love... Like some superstars, they have made money since they were young and now they are sunk in the substance abuse and depraved playboy, even become depressive.

One more reason, when you have lots and lots of money, you think your lives will be more comfortable. However then, you would also doubt whether your lover loves you or just loves wealth, you have sincere friends or you are abused, you live a meaningful life or just live day by day...If someone has excess of money but spiritual life is poor, life becomes meaningless.

After all, money is only indirect means to bring happiness, not creates it. Money is not guilty, just because of human greed. I think if we use money in the right way, we will make happiness for ourselves and people around us.

Topic 23: Many employees may work at home with modern technology. Some people claim that it benefits only workers, but not employers. Do you agree or disagree?

Nowadays, with the development of scientific and technical, the use of the internet, mobile phone, and fax ... is becoming more popular. This is result of many employees work at home and do not come to company every day. Discussion has centred on whether it presents only workers have benefits, but employers haven’t got any advantages. In my opinion, employers also have some benefits of home working.
Firstly, employers can manage the work at home. All activities that workers perform you can monitor the network at any time. You can request the employees do the jobs by your needs without having to meet face to face. Especially in many jobs like information technology, graphic designer, website manager, translator, etc... . You can be work everywhere had a computer and the Internet network.
Another benefit obtained from home-working is that you have more time for your family. By working at home, playful time with your children, your family does not more adversely affect to your work. Similarly important is that, working alongside with your family lead to that you feel less stressful and more comfortable. Similarly difficult is to maintain team spirit because employees have limited interaction between each other.
Apart from those benefits, home working might help you to reduce the cost of office hiring fee. If you are daily office work, this rent will be expensive, more difficult if you are just a small owner. Furthermore, you can save a lot of money from travel cost and prices meals and so on.
There can be no doubt that working at home have some advantages for both of employees and employers. Everyone feel comfortable with his job and they can have some ideals to solve problems that are likely to arise from this move.

Topic 11: Some people argue that the government should spend money only on medical care and education but not on theatres or sport stadium. Do you agree or disagree?
Along with the rapid development of society, more and more issues are brought to our attention, one of which is how the government use national budget. Some people take view that government should finance only essential fields of country such as medical care and educational systems rather than those large urban developments such as theatres and sport stadiums. Apparently, it sounds a good idea, but from my own perspective, government should fund both sectors to serve public profit.

The main reason why health care and education are two area of government priority in most is that they become the main force in the development of all countries. Facts have shown that, thanks to high education, labor force is more skilled and dynamic, that makes countries improve industry, economy and living standard. For instance, German and France, developed countries, invest a lot of money in education with policies such as exempt tuition even free education, helping their rate of unemployment and crime decline dramatically. Moreover, with receiving education, not only can children from impoverished families shake off poverty, but they can also climb high in the social ladder and have better lives.
There is a further more subtle point we must consider that government can inspire the loyalty of citizen, by supporting the needy people with medical service. If there were not medical subsidies of government, could the low income families afford the high cost of health care treatment or buying drugs? Hence, they would become less likely to enjoy their living and lose their belief in the government. In ad***ion, access to medical services is a basic human right and an evaluation to ensure a decent standard of living.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com
Based on the above discussion and analysis, we can see that government decide to fund which areas, that depends on the financial situation of a country and the needs of citizen. Anyhow, this decision has to bring benefit to public.

Topic 11: Some people argue that the government should spend money only on medical care and education but not on theatres or sport stadiums. Do you agree or disagree?

Some countries around the world, health care and education are two areas of government priority in most. The government has invested the sectors that bring tangibleand immediate benefits to the public, while opponents suggest that those large urban developments, such as stadiums and theatres, are worth government investing. In my opinion, I partly agree with these arguments. Government recommended healthcare and medical services is high. Medical care is essential to the economic and social well-being of a country. Both empirical knowledge and academic research suggest that making education available throughout a country and eliminating illiteracy can pave the way for economic development. At first, children receive education from families, friends and then from schools. They open their own’s knowledge, learn many lessons in their lives because education is a worth povert. It also allows citizens to secure employment and have a high salary, thereby improving their standard of living. Besides , education is linked to skilled workforce and to high productivity, affecting both resource use and national output.<FONT face=[/IMG]Although education and medical services are important, it is not to say that theatres or sport stadiums have no redeeming feature. With human needs, food, shelter and health are among the basic. After these tiring days for working and studying, people turn to higher ,entertainment and recreation. Leisure facilities like stadiums and cinemas can satisfy people's needs in these fields. Moreover, the cinema brings artistic pleasure to everyone.
In Conclusion, the life is changing time by time, day by day and now becoming modern. The pressure of life is increasing too. Besides focus on education and medical services, the government should invest in education and medical services reasonablely. All of these things are depending on decision of the government.
