Some people believe that it is good for a country to host a major sports competition. Others think it causes many problems for the country.
Discuss both points of view and give your own opinion.

There is no denying that everythings has more than one face and hosting major sports competitions is not exception.
A sizable percentage of people take the view that benefits from major sports events is huge for its host country. We may look into many possible reasons supporting this view, for example stimulating investment in infrastructure, job creation, the surge of foreign visitors, an chance to promote the nation’s image overseas… Major sports competition often require upgrades to facilities and infrastructure such as stadiums, sport complexes, athlethes villages, hotels, transportation system, communication links… These construction works create jobs for the local economy for upto 4 – 5 years before the event. An other benefit that must be taken into consideration is the influx of international tourists , a major sport competition like the Olympics can attract 10,000s of people for the month of the duration.
On the other hand, there are some contrast views have the idea that hosting major sports competition causes many problem for the country. The most considered problem is the balance between costs and benefits of the event. Hosting nations often spend billions of dollars for infrastructure investment but they may not effectively be used in the years after the event. Foreign visitors can bring huge revenue for the host nation’s economy, but the surge in visitor numbers tend to be temporary. And it will be an unfortunately failure if the country can not maintain the positive impact of there investment for the event in the following years.
From my own perspective, I don’t think it’s good or not good for the country who hosts a major sport competition, just only opportunities and challenges. The more chances host nation can catch to promote its strong, the more success it gets.
Based on the above discussion we can see that althougth hosting major sport competitions always has some risks, but everyone can see its large benefit. It’s the reason why many country still try there best to win bid to host the major sport competition of the world.

Whether it is good for a country to host a major sport is a controversial issue.
A majority of people assert that to hold major sport competition can bring a country the positive aspects of its imagination, economy and sport achievements. Firstly, the global media exposure of an event allows a country to increase its identity and image to international nations. For instant, an advertising video clips of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the romantic canals of Venice and the way to cook delicious pizzas and pastas, went with official song of World cup 1998 Un Estate Italiana broadcasted in the whole matches was strongly impressed on mostly viewers how much fascinating Italia is. Furthermore, many people from across the globe to the host country, and they not only watch the sports but also go on a visit of various places of natural, cultural and historical importance. This is turn uplifts the tourism and related local trade. Eventually, there will be more money flowing around the country and the economy is boosted.
Nevertheless, there are also a sizable percentage of people who hold the view to host a major event can bring about serious consequences of the economy imbalance and terrorism and social evils. The fact that when hosting a sport event, there will be a large amount of money is spent on the advertisements and the new transport infrastructure, telecommunications and stadiums, which may not necessarily be used in the future and therefore it can be a bad influence the balance of economy. For example, Japan invested 18 billions dollars in express railways and skiing route system building campaign in Olympic Games at Nagano province, the cost of maintain these facilities was one of the causes of local economic downturn after the games was over. The other thing that must be taken into consideration is the high risk of terrorist attacks, along with difficulty in the management of crowds and various other problems are noticeable such as pickpockets and theft.
After careful consideration of the above reasons, I, personally, stand on the side of the advocates. The first reason that can be seen by every person is host nations have the eyes of the world on them, which gives them a chance to shine, as well as promote a favorable national image. The host country of 'Olympic Games' of 2008, China, is a good example. Everyone was looking over China with doubts and suspicions, but China left them in amazement with its superb hosting of the most prestigious sporting event, The Olympics. China not only became a great success in hosting the event but also succeeded in changing the mentality of the people worldwide about China. We also cannot forget a universal truth that the benefits from the investment in in infrastructure. It makes the life of citizens of the countries more convenient with new roads and transport links, with less time wasted travelling and getting around. Finally, the incomparable advantage of this view is the chance to grand higher positions in the sport competition. A statistics of CNN shows that over 73% of countries hosting the competitions have achieved more outstanding achievements than usual. The main reason is home advantage, enthusiastic cheers of the fans at home countries, has built the strength and desire to win.
Once you have known all of these, you must agree with me that there are long - term great benefits lead to many nations have such a fierce competition to host for these events.

The bar chart shows the percentages of science qualification held by people in Germany and Italy. The science qualification can be divided into two main groups. A group concludes those peoples who have high degrees and that who don’t have degree , in which group of peoples without degree occupies higher proportion.

The high degree group has master ‘s degree and bachelor’s degree. The percentage of master’s degree, is equal and least in bar chart , less 5% in the both of country.Moreover, that of bachelor’s degree, is different from two countries. With the Germany,the percentage is 15% bigger than that is 5% in the Italy.

The group without degree includes school leaving exams and no qualification in science.With Germany, the percentage of school leaving exams is 25% smaller than that is 30% in the Italy.In ad***ion to this, the percentage of no qualification in science appropriates highest rate in the bar chart but varying from in two countries is that those people who don’t have qualification in science in Italy own 60% percentage is 5% higher than that in Germany .

Overall, most of people who has no qualification in science have highest proportion in two countries, whereas a few people have advanced degrees such as master’s degree.

There is nothing to argue that the number of holders of master's degree in both countries are equal, at 2%. Furthermore, the rate of those with bachelor's degree in Germany approximately 15%. Meanwhile, there is only about 6% of people having this certificate, less than half that proportion in Germany.

The chart also shows the rate of those who only pass the school leaving exams in Germany and Italy is roughly at the same, respectively 26% and 30%. The rate of no qualification in science in both Germany and Italy are more than half, even reaching 60% in Italy, while the same rate in Germany is a little lower one, only 55%.

Overall, we can see the relative similarities between Germany and Italy on science qualifications, at least three of the four criteria.
