Along with the development of society, more and more problems are brought to our attention, one of which is that the world’s urban areas face with environmental pollution and urbanization. This essay will discuss and take to address these problems.
The first issue that can be seen by every person is that environment pollution which is result of industrialized and climbing of population. From my own perspective, the consequences of these problems can become quite serious and unpredictable. Firstly, every year increasing people migrate to cities from the countryside lead to the amount of waste has ended up in landfill site. Secondly, the number of cars and motorbikes on our streets is growing which results in air pollution in cities. Lastly, many cities are becoming industrialized with a range of factories which produce emissions and exhaust fumes in the main cause of water and air pollution.
The second issue that must be taken into consideration is that urbanization. In fact, people move to cities in search of job opportunities cause problems like traffic congestion and crime. Moreover, the cost of living is high and housing is usually much more expensive, as a result, homelessness and poverty are common on cities. In ad***ion, urbanization is changing at a very high rate results in the gap between rich and poor citizen remains wide.
Albeit there may be various ways of dealing with these problems, the following suggestion can be very effective. First of all, the most helpful thing is government could introduce laws to limit emissions from factories in cities and impose “green taxes” on divers. Government encourages citizen to take public transport rather than driving as well as choose products with less packing to reduce pollution. In ad***ion, government could certainly make more effort to reduce urbanization rate by creating more jobs in rural areas and build houses for people who have low income.
From what has been discussed above, we may finally draw the conclusion that if government put the above measure into practice, urban areas in the world in the 21st century would become better.

Along with the development of the society, more and more problems are brought to our attention. Almost half of the world’s population now live in urban areas and, as cities grow even larger, con***ions for city dwellers are likely to get worse. Three of the most critical problems, it can be argued, are the high population, the pollution, and the differentiation between classes.
First of all, when a city develops, the urbanization happens quickly and it results an extremely jump of population. This is the indispensable thing facing the world’s cities, which is also the most difficult problem to solve. According to the Wikipedia, in 1800, 3% of the world's population lived in cities, a figure that had risen to 47% by the end of the twentieth century. The population growth brings great demand of dwelling and jobs. It’s impossible to use dominating solutions, but we can have some flexible actions, such as: expand the infrastructure and creates jobs for people in rural areas.
Another point I prefer to argue is that the pollution of 21st century cities. A development of an area is the same meaning with the dismissing of pollutants from economic activities, especially from industry. The increase of harmful substances in environment is not only effect directly to human living con***ion, it also results long-term consequences, one of them is climate change. It is clearly can be seen that nowadays, protecting the environment is very important. To do that, cities have to strict control of waste and improved technology to minimize emissions and maintaining economic development targets.
Finally, the last problem 21st cities have to face is the more and more increase of range between rich and poor class. This is the main cause of the climb of criminals and also economic crimes. In recent years, the amount of crimes in large cities tends to go up and brings psychological instability to citizen. To ensure the stable development of society the government should have positive solutions like strengthen the government at various levels, rising welfare and giving jobs to unemployed people.
From what has been discussed above, we may finally draw the conclusion that to ensure the stable of economy and society in 21st cities requires a combination of government and the people with the appropriate policy. [r2)] [r32)]

What are the key problems facing the world’s cities in the 21st century, and what can be done about them?

Along with the rapid development of the society, remarkable changes have taken place in the world’s cities. It is clear seen that there are numerous problems the cities have to face nowadays. I would explore a few of the most serious ones and some necessary measures to fight them.

The first problem that can be seen by every person is environmental pollution which had been a fact of life for many centuries. However, it has become a real problem since the start of the industrial revolution and the urbanization. Perhaps this is because of the simple fact that there are a lot of factories and vehicles in the cities nowadays, which causes air and water pollution. There is no doubt that environmental pollution are causing a lot of damage to human health. Hence, it is necessary to solve this problem by investing in green technologies, planting trees, avoiding plastic bags, plastic bottles, or using cycle for transport.

Also, we cannot forget a universal truth that overpopulation is considered as one of the serious problems in the world’s cities nowadays. In fact, the main reason why more and more people tend to move to cities is that the con***ions for their life is better. The consequences of that obviously is traffic jam, pollution and everywhere is crowded. Thus, the government should have reasonable and strict policy to control the population in cities.

Based on the above discussion and analysis, we can see that environmental pollution and overpopulation are really serious and concerned problems. It is clear seen that people should be aware of these problems and have correct attitude to make the world green and save our life. .

Two of the most critical problems, it can be argued, are the pollution and the deficiency of electricity.

In fact, pollution has become one of the hottest issues not only in cities but also in everywhere in the world. According to the environmental researchers, almost cities around the world are dealing with various kinds of pollution such as air, water, land, dust and noise pollution. With the development of the economy, the rising in the number of plants each year is the crucial reason for the increasing in the amount and the quality of waste which is responsible for the negative effects to cities’ environment. Nowadays, people have known more completely about the pollution’s problems and the ways to deal with them. Reducing the number of factories in cities by moving them to the areas which few people live in is a method being proceeded by some governments. Moreover, too much vehicles running on the streets of large cities is the main reason of dust and noise pollution. Therefore, governments should have some policies to encourage citizens to use public transportation and eco-friendly means of transport.

On the other hand, cities are facing with the lack of electric power because power plants cannot meet the needs of consumers. While the number of power plants and the materials to harness electricity are limited, the amount of electricity consumption is rocketing up day by day. Many people are worrying that in the near future there will not have been enough power providing for production and their demand for electricity. To solve this problem, many non-government organizations have proposed a lot of programs that encourage citizens to save this source of energy such as the well-known activity “The Earth Hours”. Besides, scientists continue researching new alternative forms of energy and electricity-saving tools and machines.

In conclusion, most cities in the world are taking negative effects from the environment pollution and the lack of electric power today. However, governments and citizens have knowledge of these issues and have correct attitude to resolve them.

Topic : What are the key problems facing the word’s cities in the 21st century and what can be done about them?

With the advance of the human civilization, there are an increasing number of people who have raised doubts about whether environmental pollution as well as population explotion. I totally believe that it is if possible if the Government do not remedy the situation properly, the effects might significantly detrimental. This essay will examine some of the effects and suggest solutions for the
purpose of dealing with the problems as well.

Absolutely, environmental pollution gives a lot of problems for citizens and the society. Indeed, water pollution affect directly to the process of food production. Indeed, food companies have to use contaminated materials which are used for food producing, such as irrigated vegetables and fed animals from dirty water resource. As a result, this food will impact negatively to human health. Besides, air pollution also causes many human respiratory diseases such as cancer, asthma or allergies when combined with stress at work will reduced the quality of life rapidly. Therefore, a good idea for the Government is to issue law of environmental protection associated with penalties. Besides, encouraging people to use renewable and artificial energy resources, avoiding indiscriminated littering will affect less negatively to the natural environment.

There is a further more subtle point we must consider is population explotion. In fact, the more population, the less resource of energy for people. This will lead to an upward trend in the price of important energy such as water, gas, petrol and land. Consequently, people have less money for daily life expense such as education cost or other spiritual demands. Moreover, the rate of unemployment will increase dramatically with the raise of population. Thus, the number of criminal as robbery, drug traffic or assaults will go up too. As an illustration, with very large population, developing South America area is well known region about arms and drugs trafficking. The most suitable method for the Government in this situation is to make consistent policies for the population growth. Moreover, the urban centres should be relocated to others rural districts. As a consequence, when the rate of population reduces, chaos will settle down.
From what has been discussed above, we may finally draw the conclusion that cities nowadays have to face with a number of vast problems, such as not only environmental pollution but also population explotion. Hence, the effects are considerably tremendous. According to this, the problems can only be solved by the combination of the Governments with their citizens.

Along with the development of society, more and more problems are brought to our attention, one of which is about the problem of cities. It can be clearly seen that nowadays people prefer to live in cities than countryside, but it causes the worse con***ions. There are three factor can be argued for this: urbanization, pollution and social gap.
First of all, the urbanization is the driving source for all problems. We know that the population of the world is higher and higher as we can see the significant change for each year. As there are crowed, and the thinking of people that want to live in cities rather than countryside so they obviously cause the urbanization. It effects to all the sides of a social such as making the difference of population’s proportion, economy’s developing… I think the easiest way to solve this problem is that the government should open the city’s area so that it’s suitable for the concentration of population.
Another problem why I prefer the argument is the pollution. According to many recent researches, the environment of all over the world is worse, especially in cities. As an example, the environment scientists calculate that almost the components which are not good for environment and people are emitted much more than in the pass such as C02. S02… and they directly make the climate change. Seriously, if we do not change this situation, it can lead people to the extinctive disaster. People should control the emission by reducing it directly and investing in the technologies to deal with it before spreading out.
Finally, the problem that cities have to face is the social gap. Since it happen naturally, like a competition between people, it’s a noticeable problem that we have to deal with to make a better life. The social gap will cause many problems such as: robbing, using drug… For evidence, there are many statistic data showing that almost governments are in trouble with this matter and it makes their country depressed. That is not easy to solve this problem, so I think we should just decline it’s affection to the social by the policy of each country.
Once you have known all of these, you must agree with me that as the world is developing, there are more problems challenge people. Almost of the hardest problems are in the cities life: urbanization, pollution, social gap and it’s not easy to solve them at all. But I believe people will do the right things to make the best life for themselves as soon as possible.

In this essay, I intend to discuss the impact of these problems as well as some possible solutions to them.

As the result of overcrowding, cities throughout the world today are increasingly prone to environment problems like air, water and noise pollution. Beijing is a particularly good example of this. It was ranked as the 13th most polluted city in the world in 2004. The World Bank list included many cities in China and India, where rapidly expanding industrial sectors were contributing to the build-up of air pollution. Not only does it make people’s health to be worse, but also it harms to living resources as well as ecological systems. Therefore, from my own perspective, the government should give a series of measures to bring down cities’ pollution, such as banning car to curb greenhouse gas, restricting traffic development, or encouraging people in urban move to rural areas…

The second thing that must be taken into consideration is that cities face many transport issues, including growing traffic congestion, greater car dependency and ageing transport infrastructure. According to the CONDUITS, the problem of congestion was identified already in 1960s, and its source is that urban transport growth is skewed heavily of road transport, thus leading *****bstantial growth in congestion. The rise in congestion increases the emissions and the energy consumption per passenger-km, making road increasingly unsustainable, even influences on the efficiency of commerce. To deal with this problem, one of primary objective is a modal shift away from private transport to more sustainable modes, for example, public transport, walking or cycling.

A more essential factor why I advocate the argument is that the uncontrolled growth of cities also gives rise to social problems such as high unemployment, crime, the creation of slums and the widening gap between poor and rich people. To enhance the living standard of citizens, the government must concentrate on funding for social welfare, improving working environment, upgrading and building public infrastructure like hospitals, schools…

However, I do hope that they will be resolved in the foreseeable future.

What are the key problems facing the world’s cities in the 21st century, and what can be done about them?

Along with the development of soceity, urbanization has become a deterministic process of every country. Beside the civilization it brings out, there are many negative effects of urban development. From my own perspective, nowaday, three main problems that cities in the world have to deal with are: pollution, overpopulation and wide gap between the rich and the poor.

First of all, pollution, with two main factors, which are industrial pollutants and household waste is a everyday problem that affects our life and future. Air pollution, noise pollution, water pollution…all of them are caused by the rapid industrial growth and negative attitude of human in environment protection. There are several solutions for environmental pollutions, such as recycling and saving energy. The conversion of waste to reusable material, which is apply by many countries, with high efficiency in reducing the consumption of fresh raw materials has become a key component of modern waste reduction. In ad***ion, many gorvenments all over the world have made saving energy a priority in government operations because of its environmental benefits over the long-term. A lot of attemp was made, from encouraging people to turn off lights in unoccupied rooms or shut down computers and equipments when not in use to investing in green energy development projects. Although the Earth has suffered irreparable damage, it is still not too late to save our planet.

Secondly, overpopulation is also a serious issue of urban areas, with numerous bad effects, such as: unemployment, inadequate natural resouces and low life expectancy. According to an recent survey, there were more than 400 cities over 1 million and 19 over 10 million. In term of solutions, the gorvenments are responsible with this problem. The first method to tackle rapid population growth is to apply policies of family planning in order to the deal with the excess of births over deaths. Besides, the authority can lauch some campaigns in attemp to show the people consequences of overpopulation and encourage them to follow the policies. More over, it is also very important to control the mass movement of surplus population away from the countryside for new job opportunities. Instead of preventing people in the coutryside to migrate, the government should provide them jobs and improve healthcare services as well as another welfare systems in their hometown.

Thirstly, many people believe that wide gap between the rich and the poor is an irrefutable evidence of unfair social situation, which is a consequence of economic growth in big cities. The gap in social security, in income and in living standards between the rich and poor remains a reality in many urban areas in the world. How can we reduce this inequality? In fact, in many countries, the economic policies are more beneficial for the employers than their emloyees. To tackle, Governments can apply suitable financial policies such as raising taxes on luxury products and taxes on inheritance. In ad***ions, lending interest rate for the poor should be reduced. Besides, a strong reason for this inequality is lack of education. The poor, with no financial potential, has little opportunities to impove their knowledge and follow their career. Governments should pay attention to encourage charity activities in order to help the poor, and provide free education services for them.

From what has been discussed above, we may finally draw the conclusion that, environmental pollution, overpopulation and inequality between the rich and the poor ara three major issues of big cities in this century. These problems should be concerned and undertook, by both individuals and governments, for a better world.
