Cat got your tongue = Can''t talk
    Ex:

Come on, Connie! Tell us what you think about our little ride down the rapids yesterday.
    Well.uh...
    Wasn''t it exciting?
    I,uh.. .
What''s the matter? Cat got your tongue?
If you must know, I''m keeping quiet because I was scared out of my wits!

On The Same Page = different people are looking at an issue in the same way, as when reading from the same page
In business meetings and college classes people often make copies of a single report and hand a copy to each person at the meeting. While they discuss the different points in the report, each person needs to be reading from the same page ("on the same page"). Everyone is "onthe same page" when they are all following along and understanding the basic idea that the group is sharing. "On the same page" has a further meaning of people being in basic understanding and agreement on something. Example: "Before we make any decisions today, I''d like to make sure that everyone is on the same page." People are "on the same page" when they look at a problem or a situation in the same way and agree on a course of action. Example: "Each of us has been busy with his own projects lately, so I called this meeting today to bring us all together on the same page."

Horse of a different color =quite a dirrent matter
    Ex:
Eric likes to play jokes on his friends, but he makes sure that nobody is hurt by any of his pranks. A prank that hurts someone is a horse of a different color! Being playful is one thing, but hurting someone by one''''s prank is quite a different matter.

Your Guess Is As Good As Mine = I don''t know ...
When you respond to someone''s question by saying "your guess is an good as mine" you are letting them know that you can not speak with certainty about something. If you were to answer their question, you would only be guessing. Example: "Excuse me, what time does the bus arrive?" Answer: "Your guess is as good as mine; I almost never take the bus." Neither you nor they have enough information to answer with certainty.Your next step, if it were important, would probably be to get more information so you could speak with more clarity.

Get in someone''s hair = bother someone
    Ex :

    - Children.! Would you please stop making so much. noise! And for heaven''s sake, pick up your clothes and toys! It''s hard enough trying to keep this house clean without your throwing your things all over the place!
    - Clara, I know that the children get in your hair, but you should try not to let it upset you so much.
    - Listen, Jim. I can''t help it. The children bother me and make me very angry when they''re so noisy and messy.

Shoot off one''s mouth =express one''s opinions loudly
    Ex:
Jim doesn''t play tennis very much, but he''s always shooting off his mouth about how good he is. Yet he''s fooling nobody. Jim is somewhat of a braggart and everyone knows that he gives opinions without knowing all the facts and talks as if he knew everything about the game.

Icing On The Cake = a second great thing happens in ad***ion to the first ...
When one great thing happens, then another great thing happens on top of it, the second thing is the icing on the cake. Example: "Today I was promoted to head of the department! And they decided to raise my pay!" Answer: "Wow! Icing on the cake!" We all love to eat delicious cake, and sometimes the cake has an extra sweet layer of icing on the top; that is the icing on the cake. Example: "Your wife is beautiful to look at, and she is a wonderful person!" Answer: "True; it''s icing on the cake." Example: "We won the case, and they are going to pay our legal expenses." Answer: "That''s the icing on the cake." Example: "I''ve been accepted by the university, and they''ve offered me a position on the basketball team!" Answer: "That''s wonderful! Icing on the cake"

Jump down someone''s throat = become angry with someone
    Ex:

That''s it, Greg! You''d better not come in after midnight again tonight.
I know, dad. You don''t have to jump down my throat! I told you that I''d make it home around 11:50.I don''t intend to be late!
Well, you''ve said that before and in you come at 2:50 in the morning. You can''t blame me for getting angry and scolding you. I''ve got good reason.

Pull someone''s leg = fool someone
    Ex:
Hey, Al, I was invited to be a judge for the Miss America Beauty Pageant!
Oh, really? Come on, you''re pulling my leg!
No, honestly. Do you really think that I''m trying to fool you with a ridiculous story?
Well, you''ve told me foolish stories before.
I can assure you that this one is for real.

Play it by ear = improvise as one goes along

Let''''s go to the movies, agreed?
Sure. And what''''ll we do after that?
Oh, I don''''t know. Let''''s play it by ear.
Well, I would like to have a more definite plan of action.
Don''''t be like that. It''''s always more fun not knowing what to expect and deciding what to do as we go along.
