2001: SHEVA UKRAINIAN PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Milan striker, Andriy Shevchenko, was voted votato Ukrainian Player of the Year for the third consecutive year. The votes were cast by 200 soccer experts, 200 journalists and 200 supporters representing every part of the country. Shevchenko obtained 1593 points and finished ahead of the Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder, Hennadiy Zubov, and the Dinamo Kiev striker, Olexandr Melashchenko. Since 1991 only five players have received the nation's top soccer distinction:
Akhrik Tsveiba (Dinamo Kiev), Viktor Leonenko (Dinamo Kiev), Yuriy Kalitvintsev (Dinamo Kiev)
Sergiy Rebrov (Dinamo Kiev) and Andriy Shevchenko (Dinamo Kiev and Milan)
