Dark sky is the nicest scenery of nature with numberless star twinkle in the sky, the bright planets move among stars and comets come and go. astronomy, the science industry study about night sky is one of the oldest science industries.
Certainly people see stars millions of year. But may people start studying about night sky seriously 5000 years ago. Primitive civilization in Middle East region left manuscripts about their observing. Babylon people are good at observing. And we know so Egyptian is because they ordered pyramids follow some constellation. In England, about BC 2800, they built Stonehenge (huge circle rock) like a type f observatory. Large rocks were ordered in order to identify Sun and Moon position in seasons. Old Maya and Chinese astronomies left exact manuscript documents about their observing. In 1608, a Dutch, Hans invented the first telescope. But Gaileo - Italian- is first person who used telescope to study night sky. The first time he observed sky is in winter 1609-1610. He viewed Moons of Mars, holes on Earth''''s Moon surface, and black mark on Sun. Galileo''''s telescope is quite small. The aerial telescope are afteward 50m long.
