6 Steps Error Identification in TOEFL

Xin hỏi mọi người các bước nhanh nhất để phát hiện ra lỗi trong TOEFL grammar với. Em đọc ở testmagic.com thì có 6 bước như sau :
1] S + V (Look if they have Double S, or Double V without connectors)

*** Subject is one. Verb is two. Find a proper connector! (It will makes a linking verb, or double verb which is wrong.)

Tip:

1] Don''t too think much in that type of questions,like over 4,000 signs and by over half a million people. (They are just ad***ional informations)

2] Think about S and V: The United States celebrates the birth of its independence every Forth of July. (U.S is always singular)


2] Article with Singular and Plural

Q> Socialization, which begins in child, is a process by which people become members of a society, learning its norms, customs, laws, and ways of living.

3] Word Order and Modifiers. (Ex: Adj + Noun, Adv + Verb)

Q> The peccary, an American mammal, is closely related to the swine family and ills an ecological similar role.

*** Find the best word order.

Tip: Article + adv + adj + Noun. (Usual pattern!)


4] Tense (Ex: S + Past V â,¦connector S + Past V)

Q> Dolphins can held their breath for upto several minutes and are capable of rapid and deep dives of more than 300 meters. *** You know held is wrong. (Look at tense "can and are" if are is were = incorrect!)

5] Pronoun and Reduced Clause

Q> The spice plans, what yield the pungent and fragrant substances used all over the word as condiments, are almost all natives of tropical regions.


*** Find the best answer. (TIP: Reduced Clause: look comma! and verb.)


6] Parallel Structure

Q> Crystals of pure quartz, usually called rock crystal, are coarseness, colorless and trasparent.

*** Find the parallel with 3 N, adj, or adv.

Tip: Parallel could be adj, adv, and even Verb!!!

Ex) She is smart and is going to library! (It doesn''t link with smart!)

7 ~ ETC] After 6 Identification, Look these questions

(Something you have to memorize like â,¦)

Between(Both) A and B

By Ing and Noun

Known as

Known for

Known to do soething (Refer testmagic grammar reference)

3] Word order okay (Several + noun as adj + plural Noun )

4] Tense okay okay (Talking about fact, so present tense)

5] Pronoun and Reduced okay ("Which is" completely reduced, don''''t think!)

6] Parallel Okay (S + V but V: okay or don''''t think! you already checked!)

*** You checked with 6 stpes error identification, and they are all okay!

Now, Prepisiton is problem! As twice -> twice as

TIP: Even though you don''''t know how to change, 1] ~ 6] identification try to elimate incorrect answer! (50% to 100 %)
