Tuần này mỗi thí sinh hát 3 bài: 1 tự chọn, 1 do 1 thành viên trong BGK chọn và 1 do ông Clive Davis chọn. Clive Davis hiện là sếp của nhánh BMG bắc Mỹ, nhưng tên tuổi của ông được biết đến từ lâu khi đã phát hiện và lăngxê thành công rất nhiều tài năng . Lúc còn là CT của CBS Records, ông ký HĐ với Janis Joplin, Santana, Bruce Springsteen & Billy Joel; sau đó khi lập ra Arista thì dưới trướng ông có Whitney Houston, Sean ?~Puffy?T Combs, The Grateful Dead, Aretha Franklin ,Toni Braxton...Ca sĩ gần đây được ông phát hiện là Alicia Keys. Ông cũng là người đứng ra sản xuất đĩa cho thí sinh thắng giải American Idol, nên lần này Clive Davis có tham gia phần nhận xét cùng BGK , dù trước đó Simon phát biểu rằng việc có thêm các GK là những nhân vật nổi tiếng như kiểu này là "chả lợi ích gì và rất ngượng nghịu".
Trở lại đêm thi, các bài hát được chọn như sau:
1) Vonzell Solomon:
- Bài do Clive Davis chọn: "I?Tll Never Love This Way Again" ( nổi tiếng qua giọng hát Dionne Warwick ) ==>Nửa đầu như chưa "nóng máy" nên có dấu hiệu hụt hơi, nửa sau đỡ hơn
-Bài tự chọn : "Chain Of Fools " (Aretha Franklin) ==>Bài này có quá nhiều người chọn suốt 4 năm qua của AI, dĩ nhiên là chẳng ai dám thể hiện bằng một cách thức mới mẻ hơn. Cái bóng của bà Aretha quá lớn, nên ai mà chọn bài này thì sẽ bị mất đi cá tính riêng.
-Simon chọn cho Vonzell: "On The Radio" (Donna Summer)==>Mấy bài "tưng tưng" kiểu disco mà có thể sử dụng luyến láy R&B rất dễ " bắt tai", đặc biệt hợp với Vonzell . Simon quả là tinh đời .
2 ) Bo Bice:
- Bài do Clive Davis chọn: "Don?Tt Let The Sun Go Down On Me" ( Elton John , sau này có hát chung với George Michael)==> Tuy bà con khen nấy khen để nhưng mình lại thấy bài này không hợp với Bo, chứ nếu rơi vào tay Anthony thì chắc hết xảy.
-Bài tự chọn : "In A Dream" ( nhóm rock Badlands ) ==> Bo chơi nổi, hát không nhạc đệm, khá ấn tượng.
-Paula chọn cho Bo: "(I Can?Tt Get No) Satisfaction" ( Rolling Stones)==> Paula từng là ca sĩ nên chọn bài cho Bo hay có khác, hội đủ các yếu tố: ca khúc lẫy lừng, dễ gây cảm xúc, rock và cách xử lý của Bo cũng có nét riêng.
3 )Carrie Underwood:
- Bài do Clive Davis chọn: "Crying" ( Roy Orbison & K.D. Lang)==> Một bài ballad, và không biết nói gì hơn: xuất sắc.
-Bài tự chọn : "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All" ( Air Supply)==> Thật khó hiểu, sao không phải là một bài bluesgrass mà là nhạc của Air Supply chứ? Chẳng khai thác được thế mạnh của giọng hát. Không tệ như "If You Don''t Know Me By Now" tuần trước nhưng rõ ràng là một chọn lựa sai lầm của Carrie.
- Randy chọn cho Carrie: "Man, I Feel Like A Woman" (Shania Twain)==> Ông Randy cũng dở luôn, nhạc của Shania là country-pop mà âm vực giọng bà này cũng không rộng nên các bài hát thường là ít cao trào.
Tổng kết các nhận xét của BGK và ông Clive Davis thì có thể coi như Bo Bice đã đặt một chân vô CK. Còn lại Carrie và Vonzell, chọn ai đây? Rất lo cho Carrie, và chắc cô này cũng tự thấy mình hát không đạt hay sao đó mà cứ cuối mỗi bài thi là phải cười cầu tài liên tục. Hồi hộp chờ tới ngày mai.

Vòng1: Các thí sinh sẽ hát ca khúc do Clive Davis chọn
?Vonzell hát I?Tll never love this way again(Dionne Warwick)?
Clive: You hit the notes great. You have a great voice. You have to be careful about a hint of a smile in your voice. This song is about passion. Other than that, good job.
R: "I still think you are one of the better singers. That was a little pitchy for me. The song is very rangey in the melody, so it is hard to sing. In the end, you brought it home.
P: It started out on not the best key, but you ended up nailing it with the powerful voice you have.
S: It is the biggest night of your life. You got nervous. You have two more songs. You have to do better.
?Bo hát Don?Tt let the sun go down on me(Elton John/Bernie Taupin)
C: You really captured the song. It was heartfelt and passionate. You made Elton and Bernie proud.
R: Tonight you are forever in the dawg pound. Lifetime. I was questioning the song, whether you could sing it. You can do anything dude.
P: Pure brilliance, magnificent.
S: "Really great. I much prefer you doing these kinds of songs to the rock things. I think you come in this week as a favorite to go through. I think we will see you next week.
?Carrie hát Crying(Roy Orbison)
C: I think you did a strong job. You captured the melody. I would have loved the spark, the falsetto Roy brought to the end, but you did it your way
R: We have a real competition going on tonight. Carrie, that was one of your best vocals.
P: That song is so haunting. You gave it a poignant, brilliant, but subdued quality.
S: I would have loved to hear it stripped down. Round one to Bo.
Vòng 2: Các thí sinh sẽ hát các ca khúc do chính mình chọn
?Vonzell hát Chain of fools(Aretha Franklin)
C: You picked a true soul classic, but you gave it a spirited, pop, likable ren***ion. You missed the soulful essence of the song
R: I had a good time, It is one of the best vocals ever sung on the show. You made it your own.
P: This song has been performed by many hopeful ''Idols.'' Nobody has nailed it with such gusto, with such passion, with such everything. You are wonderful.
S: It was a very brave song to sing,It was infectious. The vocals didn''t matter, it was great fun. We have a competition tonight.
?Bo hát Within a dream(Badlands)
C: You took a real risk. It was bold and courageous. You pulled it off. You are getting stronger every week. I am going to predict we are going to have a great time making a very special album.
R: The public forgets everyone sings a cappella when they au***ion. I love it that you returned to it. You are the bomb. It was unbelievable.
P: You truly are a gift. You are a gift on the inside, too. You are a beautiful soul.
S: You may have just put 34 musicians out of work

C: That song is very special to me, I love the fact that you threw yourself into it. Great job.

C: Randy was right. Country pop is your element. It radiates not just from your voice, but your face.

S: Carrie, the first part of the song didn''t sound like you. The second part of the song worked. I think that is enough to get you into the finals.

Hôm nay Vonzell hát Chain of Fools là hay nhất, I?Tll never love this way again cũng khá hay, còn On the radio hát thành công ko lỗi lầm gì nhưng bài này bình thường quá, ko khoe được giọng cao gì cả. Simon chọn cho Vonzell bài ko có cao trào để khoe giọng.
Bo chơi nổi bằng bài hát chay In a Dream tất cả khán giả im lặng lắng nghe, công nhận là nghe giọng cũng điêu luyện thật nhưng chả thấy hay gì cả Don?Tt let the sun go down on me hát khá hay, còn (I can?Tt get no) Satisfaction thì hát ko hay bằng Britney
Carrie hát Making love out of nothing at all quá hay, giọng khỏe dã man, dài hơi kinh dị, mỗi lần thấy Carrie chuẩn bị ngân là nín thở theo muốn ngất xỉu Man I feel like a woman hát cũng ok, còn Crying hát đầu tiên thì đoạn cuối thảm quá, kết thúc bài hát ngân thất bại khổ thân.
Hình như ai cũng chắc chắn việc Bo vào chung kết, chỉ còn lựa chọn giữa Carrie và Vonzell nhưng xem ra có nhiều khả năng Vonzell bị loại hơn.

Phù!!! Không có gì bất ngờ , Vonzell bị loại, cũng hợp lý thôi, cô này vào tới đây là nhờ khôn khéo trong cách chọn bài ,nhưng sự cố gắng của "Baby V." không qua nổi tài năng thực của Carrie.

VÒNG 1:
....Bo mở màn với ca khúc mới tự sáng tác "Long,Long road"
R:I think you guys are going to be really close. The bad news is I did not love that song. It was a weird song. The good news is it doesn''t matter what you sing. You still brought it home in the end.
P:Your dream came true. You are here tonight. It is hard singing a song that nobody knows, but I get the chills when I see everybody vibing with you.
S:This is probably the closest final we''ve ever had. You look like my chemistry teacher. That was a very dreary song. You are going to have to do a helluva lot better to walk away with the title tonight.
....Ca khúc đầu tiên Carrie hát là "Inside your heaven"
R:I have bad news once again, I didn''t love that song either. Keeping it real. The first half was pitchy for you. But the good news is that in the end, just like Bo, because you are a great singer, you brought it home.
P: sang beautifully, but had a couple of not so great notes.
S:I can see how nervous you are. I thought the song was much better than the first song. You are going to have to pace yourself because your vocal was on edge. Round one goes to you.

R:That is what I am talking about. Great vocals. Now I am happy. That was hot.
P:You couldn''t have performed that better than you just did. That was the authentic Bo that we love.

....Carrie chọn "Independence day"(Martina McBride)
R:That was the Carrie I love. That was an amazing vocal.
P:Bingo. That was brilliant. Great vocal.
S:I don''t think that was a great vocal because it sounded very strained for me. I wouldn''t have chosen that song. I would have chosen ''Crying.'' Round two goes to Bo.
VÒNG 3
....Bo hát "Inside your heaven"
R:What can I say? You are forever in my dawg pound. You made me love the song: great vocal, great range, great tone.
P:You went outside your range. You made me love the song, too. Props to you.
S:It is the only time I have seen you nervous throughout this competition. It shows how much it means to you. You out sang Carrie on this song. Let me say, because it is the last chance I will get, it has been for us an absolute pleasure having you in the competition.

R:You know what? It is the first time I have given you this this season, but you''ve got the dawg standing up.
