ROME, Feb 13 (AFP) - Inter Milan striker Gabriel Batistuta is available for this weekend´s Serie A clash away to Chievo after winning an appeal against a two-match ban for elbowing.
On Tuesday Batistuta, on loan from AS Roma until the end of the season, was suspended after being caught on camera using his arm on Reggina defender Ivan Franceschini in last Sunday´s 3-0 win.
But Batistuta insisted he was unaware that he had struck Franceschini when the two went up for a header.
After a day spent studying reviewing the video evidence, Italian football´s disciplinary committee decided to rescind the Argentine´s ban.
Inter president Massimo Moratti said he was delighted with the verdict.
"I was always confident the disciplinary commission would listen to our arguments and see our point of view," he said.
The loss of Argentina international Batistuta would have been a serious blow to Inter who are already without his compatriot Hernan Crespo until the middle of March.
Inter are top of the Italian first division with 45 points from 20 matches, three more than Juventus and city neighbours AC Milan

Crespo sad to miss out on Nou Camp

ROME, Feb 17 (AFP) - Inter Milan´s injured striker Hernan Crespo has expressed his disappointment at not being able to play against Barcelona in Tuesday´s mouth-watering Champions League clash at the Nou Camp.
"It would have been great to play in," he was quoted as saying by the club´s official website before leaving for Spain with the rest of the squad.
"Before the draw they asked me which teams I´d like to meet and I said any of those that play in famous stadiums.
"We got Barcelona and I was very excited but unfortunately I´ll have to watch the match from the stands."
Crespo is still nursing the thigh strain he suffered last month and is not expected to be fit for several weeks.
But the Argentina international is determined to be fit for the quarter-finals in April should Inter make it through to the last eight.
"I´m working hard on my comeback and perhaps I´ll give you a surprise and return sooner than expected.
"I´m definitely feeling much better than I thought. Almost a month has passed and I´m getting stronger all the time."
Inter and Barcelona jointly lead the group with six points having both won their two second phase matches.

Gancedo might sue commentators
MADRID, Feb 19 (SW) - The argentinian midfielder of Osasuna, Leonel Gancedo, announced that he is thinking about sueing the commentators of the pay per view transmission of the match that on Sunday against Real Madrid because they said that he wasn't in the team because he had a positive alcohol test, something that, according to his words, isn't true.
Gancedo has left everything in his personal lawyer's hands and has asked the club to write a letter which will say that he never had this kind of problems and that the problem he had a few months ago with the police was because he didn't have his driving license.
"I have spoken with the club to see what can be done because I was watching the pay per view transmission; the commentators said that I had been punished by the club because I have an alcoholic problem and that isn't true. I am not going to accept these kind of lies because they aren't good for my career."
"They have created a moral problem for me and my family. The two persons that commentated the match don't know anything and they say very bad things, lies and critics that aren't true."
"I am not going to leave it this way because the people that saw that transmission could believe what they said and then they will think that I am an alcoholic or something like that. I am going to discuss and defend myself beause what they have said is a lie."
About other critics, Gancedo also said: "Some people at school said bad things to my children and that's not good for their education, but this is football. We are all equal people, being a football player or another thing is exactly the same and I think that everyone should be careful with what they say because many things hurt alot."
Gancedo also spoke about the action in the match against Real Madrid that could have been the draw when the referee didn't allow a supposed goal from Morientes.
"In the first moment I didn't see the ball going in and then when I saw the images on the television they doubted about what had happened".
"Many people had a look to the perspective angle with the post but what is most important is to see the goal line and the ball didn't cross it. Thank God it wasn't a goal and it wouldn't have been fair if they would have reached the draw."
