    Hi everybody,
I see many people now keen on reading books, watching movies and TV programs about Astronomy. The Cosmic for us still being an extremely mysterious objest, for people who works with physics, especially with astronomy , watching the sky every nights observing the motions of stars and their weird beauties like a process of finding a life_partner.
I'll post my recent readings about this field and do hope that it will bring you something different.

Hey where are you smallfoxnoel? I'm looking forward to reading your articles, but you suddenly disappear. What's wrong with you? I'm absolutely interested in astronomy, one of my all time hobbies is to enjoy the moonlight, so I really wish to have a good understanding of planets in the universe. Yesterday when I was surfing the Internet, I found series of articles on astronomy. I haven't read all of them yet, but as soon as I finish with them , I will post here. Hope some of you guys will find it interesting to know a little bit more bout the stars in the sky.
And.... anyone of you believe that we can foretell the future owing to studying the moves of planets, or so called horoscope? I didn't use to, but now, I have to confess that a lot of things written in horoscopes I found on the Internet are completely correct to me.

Check out this website if you want. I kind of got a shock when I read what was written in Libra since almost everything was true.
I'm looking forward to your reply, smallfoxnoel

How do the signs of the zodiac relate to astronomy?
Though many people start their days by checking their horoscope in the newspaper, the 12 constellations of the zodiac are no more important to astronomers than the other 76 constellations. The significance of the zodiac stems from the fact that the ecliptic â?" the narrow path on the sky that the Sun, Moon, and all of the planets appear to follow â?" runs directly through these star groupings. Since ancient times, the Sun, Moon, and planets have been known to be special astronomical objects â?" they "wander" through the background stars of the zodiac, which remain fixed with respect to each other. It was reasoned, quite naturally, that these zodiacal constellations must be very special to make up this path, and the relative positions of the "wandering stars" within them bore great importance. True scientific astronomy indeed has its roots in ancient astrologers attempting to predict future occurrences of, for instance, imperial Jupiter and the blood-red planet Mars meeting within the charging bull of Taurus â?" a potentially powerful omen for those who believed the planets represented the gods themselves.

    The Pencil Nebula Supernova Shockwave
Cre***: Hubble Heritage Team (STScI/AURA), W. Blair (JHU) & D. Malin (David Malin Images), NASA
Explanation: At 500,000 kilometers per hour, a supernova shockwave plows through interstellar space. This shockwave is known as the Pencil Nebula, or NGC 2736, and is part of the Vela supernova remnant, an expanding shell of a star that exploded about 11,000 years ago. Initially the shockwave was moving at millions of kilometers per hour, but the weight of all the gas it has swept up has slowed it considerably. Pictured above, the shockwave moves from left to right, as can be discerned by the lack of gas on the left. The above region spans nearly a light year across, a small part of the 100+ light-year span of the entire Vela supernova remnant. The Hubble Space Telscope ACS captured the above image last October.

    2 Moons on 27th August!!!
    Hi everyone,
It''s going to be a rare sight so remember - don''t miss the opportunity to view 2 moons in the sky -> 27 AUGUST 2003.
Never again in your lifetime will the Red Planet be so
    spectacular!
This month and next month the Earth is catching up with Mars, an encounter that will ulminate in the closest approach between the two planets in recorded history. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287.
Due to the way Jupiter''s gravity tugs on Mars and perturbs its orbit, astronomers can only be certain that Mars has not come this close to Earth in the last 5,000 years but it may be as long as 60,000 years.
The encounter will culminate on August 27th when Mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles and will be (next to the moon) the brightest object in the night sky. It will attain a magnitude of -2.9 and will appear 25.11 arc seconds wide.
At a modest 75-power magnification Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. Mars will be easy to spot. At the beginning of August, Mars will rise in the east at 10p.m. and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m. By the end of August when the two planets are closest, Mars will rise at nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30 a.m. That''s pretty convenient when it comes to seeing something that no human has seen in recorded history. So mark your calendar at the beginning of August to see Mars grows progressively brighter and brighter throughout the month. Share with friends, children and grandchildren and with everyone you know, as no one alive today will ever see this again.

So close no matter how far... I have you in my heart and nothing else matters... :x
