    Several Barcelona players have backed Liverpool striker Michael Owen to become European Player of The Year.

    Frank De Boer said: "The best has been Owen. Five titles in such a short space of time. What he has done is impressive."

    Phillippe Christanval added: "Owen shared the first spot with Effenberg. Both deserved to be the number one and they are over great stars such as Zidane, Rivaldo and Figo."
