Beckenbauer: We are eager to bring the Intercontinental Cup back to Munich

MUNICH, November 25 (DS) - Bayern Munich skipper Stefan Effenberg will not join his side in their trip to Tokyo, where the strongest club of our planet will be decided in the match between the Champions League winner and Cup of Libertadores prize-holder Argentinean Boca Juniors. The 33-year-old midfielder suffered a serious injury to his right thigh in the Bundesliga match with Nurnberg (0-0) and was substituted during the first half. The club doctor stated after the match, that Effenberg will have to miss upcoming matches for about 10 days.
Meanwhile Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld is optimistic concerning the upcoming Intercontinental final despite the fact that Jens Jeremies, Mehmet Scholl and Roque Santa Cruz are ruled out of it.
"Each member of our team knows what's at stake in this match," said the manager. "A victory over the South Americans is likely to restore our shaken self-confidence."
After losing 0-1 to SV Werder and drawing 1-1 against Manchester United in a Champions League tie the German champions could use a dose of some positive feelings.
Meanwhile it's the second time that the Munich side are competing for the title of the best team in the world. Franz Beckenbauer, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Co claimed the Intercontinental Cup in a match against Belo Horizonte (2:0).
"It's been 25 years since Bayern won the Intercontinental Cup and we are eager to bring it back to Munich," claimed the Bayern chairman

Nhưng em vẫn nghĩ nếu BM chơi cẩn thận,giữ đúng phong độ thì sẽ giành được chiến thắng

Sớm muộn gì Riquelme cũng sẽ sang châu Âu thôi.Ở Argentina mãi thì làm sao mà thể hiện được chính mình(với lại sang châu âu lương cao gấp nhiều lần).Hình như đại diện của Riquelme đã tiếp xúc với Lazio,Parma &Juve,không hiểu chú này sẽ về đâu nhỉ?
