Although Spetsgruppa Vympel is one of the more famous Spetsnaz units very little is known about this unit. Both Vympel and Al'fa were special units of the Komitet Gosudarstvennoy Bezopasnosti (Committee for State Security) better known as the KGB. Vympel, which means "pennant" or "banner", was created in 1981 as a covert paramilitary unit. The KGB created a number of covert special operations units (called Spetsgruppa) to carry out a variety of tasks. Vympel was subordinate to the KGB's First Chief Directorate (Foreign Operations). The First Chief Directorate was responsible for all international clandestine operations conducted by the KGB. Within this Directorate, Vympel was placed under the Illegals Department, or Department S , which recruited, trained and controlled KGB officers operating covertly in foreign countries. The First Chief Directorate also ran the Executive Action Department, or Department V, which conducted assassinations, snatches and sabotage in enemy territory. Vympel was tasked with conducting special reconnaissance in enemy territory, assassination or kidnapping of key persons, protection and evacuation of Soviet citizens and establishments in foreign countries as well as training militant and guerrilla groups in unfriendly countries (similar to US Special Forces). Immediately before the outbreak of war, Vympel (along with other spetsnaz groups) would infiltrate enemy territory and sabotage or capture major power plants (hydroelectric, nuclear, etc.), industries, and other infrastructure. Vympel was also tasked with sabotaging military installations as well as rescuing POWs. Some sources claim that the size of Vympel reached battalion strength (500) while others say there were almost 1000 members operating in units of 10 to 12. Of these, 90% were officers under 42 years of age.

Bây giờ giới thiệu tiếp SAS của Anh Quốc lực luợng này xem ra thuộc loại chiến nhất trên thế giới.
    CRW
The 22nd Special Air Service Regiment, or the SAS, is probably the most respected and well-known SpecOps unit in existence . It is the oldest "modern-day" special operations unit and almost every other unit in the world has been based, directly or indirectly, on the principles and techniques of the SAS.

Similarly, the SAS Counter-Revolutionary Warfare Wing, or CRW, is the oldest and most respected CounterTerrorist organization. The techniques and tactics developed by the CRW are still used by most CounterTerrorist units today (with the probable exception of the ex-Soviet units- though this seems to be changing). This should come as no surprise since the CRW was involved in the formation of most of the other western CounterTerrorist units - including Germany's GSG 9, France's GIGN, Spain's GEO and America's Delta to name a few. Even the initial unit structure of Israel's Sayeret Matkal and some of its later CT/HRT training came from the SAS.
The composition of CRW is peculiar when compared to other CT units that are part of a larger military SpecOps unit. While the Wing as such is a separate entity within the SAS that contains experienced men who train the others and develop tactics, the actual CT team is not a permanent entity. In other words, it is not a distinct unit with a set of pre-selected operators. For example, America's DevGroup is a unit manned by pre-selected Navy SEALS and Israel's Unit 269 is a unit manned by the best operators from Sayeret Matkal. On the other hand, all SAS squadrons are cycled through CounterTerrorist duty for a period of six to none months. This includes a transition period lasting four to six weeks during which the commitment is handed over to the next squadron. This setup ensures that all SAS personnel are CounterTerrorist qualified and that these skills are refreshed constantly.
LEFT: The sand colored beret and SAS patch. RIGHT: The SAS Sabre Wings. Both items are exclusive to the SAS.
The squadron on CRW duty must maintain a Special Projects (SP) group which will be on constant alert to conduct CT/HRT missions on domestic or foreign soil. An SP team consists of approximately 80 operators who are commanded by a major and a warrant officer and divided into two sub-teams - Red Team and Blue Team. The presence of two teams allows two incidents to be covered. If more incidents need to be attended, there are contingency plans for other squadrons to provide teams.
Each sub-team consists of an assault group and a surveillance/sniper group. The assault group typically operates in groups of four but this setup is flexible depending on the situation. One of the assault groups is the Method of Entry (MOE) team whose job is to decide how to penetrate the target and to prepare any explosive charges or special breaching equipment that might be needed. Each group also has a trained medic.
LEFT: Air Troop member during freefall parachuting. RIGHT: A four-man assault group making entry using collapsable aluminium ladders. Note the rubber padding at the ends of the ladder to prevent noise and to maintain a positive grip.
A signals group makes sure that the teams have communication from anywhere in the world. Some of the signals men will enter the target during an assault and therefore train with the assault team. The Sniper/Surveillance groups consist of marksmen who maintain perimeter security and provide eyes-on-target. The are also trained as assaulters.

    NOCS
The Nucleo Operativo Centrale di Sicurezza (Central Security Operations Group), more commonly known as NOCS, is the primary tactical unit of Italy's Polizia di Stato (State Police). Like it's Carabinieri counterpart, GIS, NOCS has participated extensively in the battle against armed gangs, organized crime and terrorism in Italy during the last two decades, working against groups like the left-wing "NAP" (Proletarian Armed Nucleus), the right-wing "New Order" and the "Red Brigades".
A six-man NOCS team. The operator standing third from left is armed with a license manufactured Israeli Military Industries 5.56mm Galil Short Assault Rifle (SAR). The snipers, standing extreme left and right, are armed with 7.62mm HK PSG1's while the remainig operators sport 9mm HK MP5 SMGs. Note the rapelling harnesses worn by the operators.
NOCS, officially known as Divisione Operazioni Speciali (Special Operations Division), comes under the command of the Direzione Centrale della Polizia di Prevenzione (Central Direction of the Police of Prevention) which controls Anti-Terrorism operations in Italy. NOCS is tasked with :
Hostage rescue in any environment, when all other means of resolution are expended.
Tactical operations in both urban and rural areas to capture or neutralize terrorists or fugitives.
    Other high-risk or violent operations.
    Tactical training of Police officers.
VIP protection for national and international subjects.
NOCS shooters. Both pictures show the standard dark-blue, single-piece, nomex assault suit used by the unit. LEFT: An operator armed with a 9mm HK MP5 SD6 sporting a foregrip mounted flash-light and double magazines. RIGHT: NOCS operators during training. The operator in the middle is armed with a 9mm HK MP5 A5 with double mags. The 3-round burst trigger group is clearly visible. He is wearing a British SOV tactical vest. Note the mesh construction, 12 guage shotgun shell loops and the modular pocket layout. The operator in the rear appears to be armed with one of the Franchi 12 guage shotgun models with the stock folded.
The actual size of NOCS is classified but estimates put it at around 100 personnel. . The unit consists of three (maybe two) operational sections, one VIP protection section, a training team titled Ufficio Studi, Sperimentazione e Addestramento (Office of Studies, Experimentation and Training) and a support and logistics group. The basic fighting unit of the operational sections is the four-man team but the actual number deployed is flexible according to mission requirements. One operational section and some support and logistics personell will always be on alert to deploy within 30 minutes of notice. The Training Team is tasked with selection of new recruits and maintaining and updating the training curriculum. It consists of a large number of experienced veteran officers. The team also devises and experiments with new techniques, weapons and equipment that can be employed by the unit.

Xin giới thiệu tiếp đơn vị đặc nhiệm thứ hai của Italya :
    GIS
Italy's Gruppo Intervento Speciale (Special Intervention Group) is a special arm of L'Arma dei Carabinieri (The Carabinieri Corps) that handles counterTerror, hostage rescue, hijackings, kidnapping, and extremely violent crime. The GIS is a highly experienced unit that has cut its teeth on armed crime perpetrated by organizations like the Sicilian Mafia and terrorist groups like the Red Brigade. Indeed, none of its publicly known missions have ended in failure.
A 12 man GIS anti-hijack team, armed with a variety of weapons, posing on a runway after aircraft assault drills. The operators at the extreme right (kneeling and standing) are armed with 9mm Beretta PM-12S SMGs. The other SMGs in the picture are 9mm HK MP5A3 or A5 variants. The pistols are probably 9mm Beretta 92F. This appears to be a rather old picture, judging from the bulky sights on some of the SMGs.
The Ministry of Interior can task the GIS with hostage rescue from airplanes, ships, trains, buses and buildings. It has the informal reputation of being the finest aircraft assault unit in Italy. They may also be tasked with the recovery or protection of vital assets from terrorists and with providing high-risk international meetings with security. The GIS can also be tasked by the Carabinieri General Command to provide VIP security or assist regular units on extremely violent missions such as kidnappings, raids and apprehension of dangerous fugitives. Since the GIS is a part of the Carabinieri, it can be deployed outside Italy to conduct CT operations or protect Italian ctizens and intrests from terrorism.
The exact size of the GIS is classified but estimates put it at 70 to 150 personnel. The unit is commanded by a Lieutenant Colonel and consists of a Command Section, an Administration Section, a Training Section, a Scout/Sniper/Reconnaissance Section and a Combat Section. The Combat Section is the main offensive section and is divided into three detachments. Each detachment is composed of four-man operational teams made up of a commander, an EOD specialist, a climbing specialist and an equipment specialist. The Scout/Sniper Section consists of a commander and three-man scout/sniper teams (two snipers and one scout). The scout and sniper will often interchange roles during a lengthy operation.
GIS shooters. LEFT: An older photo showing a GIS operator brandishing an MP5A5 with a 3-round burst trigger group and an unusual foregrip with an integrated tactical light. RIGHT: A newer photo showing the subtle changes in the nomex assault suit and vest. Note the MP5K-PDW with a 3-round burst trigger group and laser pointer combo.
At any given time, one detachment will be on alert at the base, ready to deploy within 30 minutes of notification. The teams and equipment for different scenarios are prearranged. The Carabinieri always has a number of helicopters and aircraft on alert to provide transportation. The second detachment can be deployed in three hours and the rest of the unit can follow within 24 hours. With the widespread use of pagers and cellular phones, these times have reduced significantly.

Đây là đơn vị đặc nhiệm của Italy
The Comando Raggruppamen*****bacquei e Incursori 'Teseo Tesei' (Divers and Raiders Command) or COMSUBIN is the unconventional warfare and special operations command of the Marina Miltare Italiana (Italian Navy). COMSUBIN is the inheritor of the pioneering Italian incursori (raiders) of WWI and WWII.
GOI operators in CT/HRT mode. Note the MP5s with Trijicon ACOG Reflex sights, ProTec style plastic helmets, custom made tactical vests, nomex suits and ballistic goggles. (RAIDS magazine)
COMSUBIN, which is commanded by an Admiral who reports directly to the Navy's Chief of Staff, consists of a number of subsections: The Gruppo Operativo Incursori (GOI), or the Raiders Operational Group, is the main offensive section; the Gruppo Operativo Subacquei (GOS), or Divers Operational Group, which numbers between 20 and 50 men, is the defensive and combat divers section; the Gruppo Navale Speciale (GNS), or GRUPNAVIN, which is roughly analogous to the US Navy's Special Boat Units, provides support and transportation; the logistics unit; the Centro Ricerche e Studi, or Research and Studies Center, which evaluates and modifies new tactics, weapons, equipment, communications, transport and materials for use by GOI and GOS members as well as planning operations together with the Command Unit; and the Gruppo Scuole, or the Schools Group, which conducts selection and training for all branches of COMSUBIN. It is the only group in the military that is authorized to confer the combat diver patent.
LEFT: The COMSUBIN insignia. CENTER: COMSUBIN patch featuring the crocodile with a sword in its jaws and the anchor beneath waves. RIGHT: The GOI arm patch featuring the crossed dagger and anchor with the words "Ar***i Incursori" or "Daring Raiders". BOTTOM: The Parachute badge worn over the right breast.
The GOI is analogous to units like the US Navy SEALs and the Royal Marines SBS in terms of mission profile and training. Estimates of GOI 's size ranges form 150 to 200 men. They are tasked with:
Maritime Special Reconnaissance (SR): Gathering of intelligence pertaining to enemy size and location, terrain con***ions, battle damage assessment and location and surveillance of enemy assets.
Direct Action (DA): Quick raids to destroy or sabotage enemy positions and assets such as ports, coastal bases and radars, power stations and communications installations. This also includes target designation for attack by aircraft or naval vessel based guided weapons. Being a naval unit, GOI will specialized in attacking targets near large bodies of water.
Foreign Internal Defense (FID): Assistance such as training, support and organization of military and para-military forces of a friendly host nation in times of peace as well as during a crisis.
CounterTerror and Hostage Rescue (CBT): The rescue of hostages in all environments but especially in maritime scenarios such as ships and Gas and Oil Platforms (GOPLAT). GOI may also conduct DA missions against terrorist bases and assets.
GOI operators equipped for maritime operations. LEFT: Operators preparing for a mission. Note the camouflage BDU's worn over the wetsuits. The right-most operator is holding a weighted diving belt, while the one in the middle is wearing an inflatable combat vest. Their diving gear, including the breathing apparatus and fins, is on the floor next to them. A 5.56mm Beretta SCS 70/90 assault rifle is visible near the feet of the middle operator. RIGHT: A GOI operator coming ashore. Note the MP5 A3, breathing gear and inflatable vest.
Varying information is available on the existence of a dedicated CT/HRT unit within the GOI. It is known for sure that a Unita Interventi Speciali (Special Intervention Unit) or UN.I.S team was created in the late seventies that specialized in maritime hostage rescue and counterTerror operations. However, some sources claim that the UN.I.S team has been disbanded since 1984. Whatever the case, CT/HRT ranks as an important mission of the GOI. Indeed, the COMSUBIN provides maritime CT training for elements of both the Carabinieri GIS and the Polizia di Stato NOCS CT/HRT units.
The GOI typically operates in six-man teams, although, like most special operations units, this number is flexible from two (the basic "pair") to ten or twelve man teams depending on the mission.
