    3UBK10M, 3UBK10M-1, 3UBK10M-2, 3UBK10M-3 ROUNDS WITH 9M117M UNIFIED ANTI-TANK GUIDED MISSILE.

    Rounds 3UBK10M, 3UBK10M-1, 3UBK10M-2, 3UBK10M-3 are designed to destroy all types of armoured vehicles, inducting the tanks protected with explosive reactive armour, as we as the small-size targets (pillbox, dugout, etc.). Structurally the rounds are comprised of missile 9M117M unified for all modifications of rounds with a tandem hollow-charge warhead and the case with a propelling charge inside of it that serves to impart the initial velocity for the missile. The missile is launched (fired) from the barrel. When in flight the missile is controlled (guided onto target) directly from the fighting compartment or the firing site by a laser beam rider of the guidance equipment. The control system is semiautomatic with a laser beam concept. The operator (gunner)''s mission is to keep the target in the cross-hairs during which the missile automatically flights into the laser beam guidance field.ADVANTAGES: · Possibility to fire on the move. · Launch (fire) of the missile from gun barrel. · Rounds are regarded to the fixed ammunition. · Laser beam rider guidance features high immunity resistance to jamming and ensures superior target hit accuracy. · The launcher and the crew are protected from bullets and fragments in battle situation.

    The Urals Transport Machinery Design Bureau Federal State Unitary Enterprise and the Uralvagonzavod Production Association State Unitary Enterprise demonstrated for the first time a new tank support combat vehicle (Russian acronym BMPT) at the 2nd Urals Exhibition of Armaments and Military Equipment held recently in Nizhni Tagil (Sverdlovsk Region, Russia). The concept of such a unique combat vehicle was conceived long ago, however its implementation was delayed.
    In 1997, the BTR-T heavy armored personnel carrier, developed on the basis of the T-55 battle tank, was demonstrated at the Exhibition of Armaments and Military Equipment in Omsk (Russia). Now, drawing on experience gained operating armored vehicles in local conflicts, designers have developed the BMPT combat vehicle on the basis of the most mass-produced T-72 battle tank. The combat vehicle features armor protection equal to that of the battle tank and powerful armament capable of neutralizing and defeating antiarmor-capable targets and manpower, and operates in a common battle formation.These features help significantly increase combat effectiveness of tank units and decrease their losses from enemy close-combat assets.
    The BMPT?Ts hull is the same as that of the T-72 battle tank. It is provided with explosive reactive armor (ERA) on the frontal armor plate, ERA-applied screens to protect side plates, as well as grilled shields to protect the hull rear. The welded turret is provided with a filler and built-in ERA.
    The distinguishing feature of the BMPT combat vehicle is its low-profile turret mounted on a tank chassis. The turret is equipped with up-to-date weapons for defeating antiarmor-capable targets and enabling tanks to advance, leaving close antiarmor-capable targets for the BMPT to take care of. The BMPT crew consists of five men.
    The BMPT armament can effectively defeat both lightly armored ground and aerial targets and heavily armored tank-type ground targets.
    Its main armament consists of the 30mm 2A42 automatic gun and coaxially-mounted AG-30 or AGS-17A grenade launcher stabilized in two planes, and the Kornet ATGM system provided with a semiautomatic jamproof laser-guided system.
    The commander?Ts and gunner?Ts workstations are equipped with identical PNK ranging sights enabling the commander and the gunner to effectively fire all types of weapons from both commander?Ts and gunner?Ts workstations.
    The BMPT is ad***ionally armed with two AG-30 grenade launchers or two 7.62mm PKTM machine guns with an electromechanical drive and a day/night sight combined with the Agat-MR optronic sight. The ad***ional weapons are arranged on fenders.
    The turret-mounted 7.62mm machine gun provided with an electromechanical drive and the PNK sight serves as an auxiliary weapon. The BMPT has a built-in dozer equipment for digging in. The vehicle can be equipped with the KMT-8 treadway mine plow and the EMT electromagnetic device.
    A diesel-electric set rated at 5 kW is installed in an armored compartment on the right fender.
    The crew compartment is equipped with a system providing for crew protection against NBC weapons. It is also equipped with an automatic quick-operation two-discharge fire extinguishing system.
    The System 902A automatic smoke grenade launching system serves as a camouflage means.
    Modernization of the T-72-type battle tanks into the BMPT combat vehicle can change tactics of combat actions and significantly increase fighting efficiency of tank units.
    Tank assistance combat vehicle BMPT
    Presented during the Ural Expo Mars 2000 in Nizim Tagile, BMPT (Object 199), was constructed in Ural Transport Machine Construction Bureau (UKBTM). The prototype was developed as the own initial of UKBTM and uses the T-72/90 tank chassis. The purpose of the vehicle differs from the Achzarit and BTR-T transporters. The task of BMPT (in the constructors'''' assumption) is not safe transport of infantries in the terrain threatened by direct enemy anti-tank fire or in areas where operations of typical infantry transport mediums are impeded (urban area, mountains). It is meant to provide fire support to the tanks. The experience gained from post War II conflicts showed, that the tank crews are forced to locate and engage too many types of targets - not only other tanks and armored vehicles, but also light field fortification, fire position, even single soldiers armed with light anti-tank weapons. All these have a negative influence to the accomplishment of the major task - engage enemy tanks and fortification. BMPT vehicles, moving along with the tanks, are to combat secondary targets like IFVs, armored transporters, infantries and other weapons that could post threats to the tanks - and therefore it is named: Tank assistance combat vehicle. The common position in combat grouping with tanks forces the BMPT to be protected by equivalent armor. Its front and side armors are comparable with T-90''''s, but the most exposed parts - the front of the chassis and the turret is ad***ionally protected by integral ERA panels. The wheels and sides of the chassis are covered by screens with ERA and the rear with grids which causes cumulative warheads to explode. The armor of BMPT is probably heavier that the base tank, as it weight 47 tons (T-90S - 46.5t). The vehicle is as mobile as T-90S, similar to the newest series of tanks it is powered by W-92S2 diesel engine developing 736kW/1000hp. This is an engine from the W-46 family, in which air intake system, fuel installation, pistons are modified and turbo-charge is installed.
    The crew is 5 people. In the Turret sits the commander and gunner, in the chassis - the driver and 2 shooters, the last are sited on both sides of the driver. All crew members have their individual hatches.
    Instead of standard turret, BMPT obtained a low profiled, welded turret with externally installed weapons which include: stabilized in 2 planes 2A42 30mm automatic cannon with large lifting angle, AGS-30 automatic 30mm grenade launcher. Ad***ionally, on the turret a remotely controlled PKTM 7.62mm automatic machine gun is mounted. The turret is also equipped with 4 9M133 Kornet laser guided anti-tank missiles, which are located in a armored container on the left side of the turret. The commander and gunner (whose duties are fully exchangeable) have the same PNK day-night gunsight integrated in the digital fire control system aided by the DWE-BS meteorological sensor. Laser warners which co-operates with 12 smoke grades are also installed on the turret . On the track covers of the Object 199 prototype, AGS-30 automatic grenade launchers controlled by the shooters are installed in armor containers (they can be replaced by PKTM automatic machineguns). The shooters are equipped with rotatable observation turrets with Agat-MR aiming equipments and periscopes.
    BMPT can be build as the reconstruction of T-72/90, or can be produced normally. Presently Uralwagonzawod is trying gain interest of the Russian Army and foreign customers.

    Chi tiết thêm về Krasnopol và Kitolov
    GUIDED PROJECTILES -
    THE BAREST NECESSITY FOR
    THE 21st CENTURY ARTILLERY
    Featuring a high fire power potential,
    a high rate of fire, maneuverability
    and capability to accomplish a
    wide range of fire missions, the
    modern tube artillery holds a
    leading place in the armament
    system of armies of advanced (in the
    military field) countries. Its high fire
    properties are achieved by continuous
    improvement of all composing subsystems
    (reconnaissance assets, fire means, fire
    control subsystems, munitions). In terms
    of their combat potential, the most
    advanced artillery systems, such as the
    2S33 (Russia), TRF1 (France) and
    PzH-2000 (Germany), outperform by
    4-5 times the artillery systems developed
    in 1960s-1980s.
    Nevertheless, despite the evident
    improvement of artillery, the number of
    involved artillery pieces, consumption of
    projectiles and the combat mission
    accomplishment time are still significant.
    For example, to defeat an enemy battery
    at ranges of 15-20 km, it is necessary to
    involve an artillery battalion (18 artillery
    pieces) and consume 600-800 projectiles.
    In so doing, the firing time amounts to
    6-8 min, which is enough for the enemy to
    open up with retaliation fire and disrupt
    accomplishment of the battalion''s combat
    mission, although the battalion certainly
    has the possibility to leave its firing
    position.
    The consumption of projectiles can
    be reduced, the combat mission
    accomplishment time may be shortened
    and the artillery combat capabilities
    simultaneously extended only when
    high-precision fire is delivered. One of the
    trends aimed at enhancing the firing
    accuracy is employment of guided
    artillery weapon systems.
    Guided munitions are actually
    able to retain and increase the role
    of artillery at the modern stage of
    armament development.
    In Russia, the development of guided
    artillery projectiles (GAP) started in the
    Tula-based KBP Instrument Design
    Bureau, where a semiactive laser-guided
    152mm Krasnopol artillery projectile was
    first developed. The projectile homing is
    carried out by a laser beam reflected from
    a target illuminated by an observer-gun
    layer with the use of a laser ranger
    designator (LRD).
    Precision-guided weapons ?" new
    combat capabilities of artillery
    Owing to its unique layout and design
    solutions, the Krasnopol projectile features a
    unique property: it can defeat the target by
    the first shot, without adjustment fire
    throughout the entire firing range envelope.
    This distinctive feature of the projectile
    has made it possible to render radically new
    properties to artillery:
    ? tra***ional area fire and barrage are
    changed by fire at separate (pin-point)
    targets (battle tanks, infantry combat
    vehicles, bunkers), with a high target
    hitting probability;
    ? fire at group targets located at a
    significant range from each other
    (800-1,000 m) can be delivered by one
    and the same launcher located relative to
    the group target center;
    ? firing at ranges of up to 10-12 km can
    be executed without meteorological and
    ballistic preparation of fire;
    ? capability to defeat not only stationary,
    but moving targets by the first shot.
    It takes 2-3 min to execute combat
    missions by means of guided artillery
    projectiles. Therewith, after 2-3 shots,
    each gun engaged in firing leaves its firing
    position within not more than 30 s that
    virtually excludes losses from the enemy
    retaliation fire and significantly changes
    artillery employment tactics.
    The artillery preparation, being one of
    the main classes of fire of the organic
    artillery and requiring a high concentration
    of artillery pieces, ammunition consumption
    of many tons and a significant firing time
    (15-20 min), is changed by a battery''s or
    battalion''s 2-3-min firing during which the
    targets with the highest combat potential
    will be defeated.
    After bombardment with guided
    projectiles, the organic artillery uses a
    smaller number of artillery pieces and a lower
    rate of ammunition consumption to defeat
    dispersed manpower, nonreconnoitered
    objects of armor materiel and the first echelon
    weapon emplacements (machineguns,
    grenade launchers); then it transfers fire at
    the second echelon targets and defeats
    single nondestroyed targets detected during
    counterattack.
    The distinguishing feature of the KBP
    Instrument Design Bureau-developed
    guided artillery projectiles is their capability
    to defeat targets after flying on the takeoff
    and diving trajectory by hitting the target top
    (the least protected area) that results, as
    a rule, in its catastrophic kill if the guided
    projectile is provided with a powerful HEF
    warhead.
    Improvement and proliferation
    of guided artillery weapon systems
    Taking into account the wide use of the
    155mm artillery systems in armies of many
    countries of the world and promising
    prospects of precision-guided weapons, the
    KBP Instrument Design Bureau has
    developed the Krasnopol guided artillery
    projectile of this caliber intended for firing
    from such artillery systems, as M109A1-6
    (USA), G5/G6 (SAR), FH77 (Sweden),
    TRF1 (France) and others.
    Structurally, the 155mm Krasnopol
    guided artillery projectile differs from the
    152mm Krasnopol guided artillery projectile
    in diameter of its obturating band and
    provision of an ad***ional centering band on
    the warhead body.
    The Krasnopol projectile, which is longer
    than the standard unguided projectile,
    is stowed in the ammunition racks of the
    standard 152mm and 155mm selfpropelled
    artillery mounts, since it
    comprises two sections, which are mated
    manually before loading.
    The stowage version of this kind does
    not allow it to automate the loading
    process; however, it does not require any
    rework of the standard artillery systems
    either.
    The Krasnopol guided artillery weapon
    system is produced serially and is in great
    demand on the international armament
    market.
    At the same time, the experience
    accumulated in the process of employment
    of the Krasnopol guided projectiles in
    various climatic, terrain and combat
    con***ions has made it possible to
    upgrade guided artillery weapon systems,
    thus ensuring:
    ? automate loading of guided artillery
    projectiles employed in self-propelled
    howitzers;
    ? enhanced fire power;
    ? increased combat employment rate.
    With the use of the most up-to-date
    technologies and obtained unique
    engineering solutions, the Krasnopol-M1
    guided artillery projectile, featuring the
    weigh-dimension characteristics of a
    standard HEF projectile, was developed.
    Therewith, its warhead power
    outperforms that of the Krasnopol guided
    projectile.
    Krasnopol-M1, with dimensions
    allowing its stowage in the standard
    ammunition racks without separation into
    two sections, makes it possible to:
    ? reduce fire preparation time by
    2-3 times;
    ? increase a rate of fire by 1.5-2 times;
    ? increase the number of guided
    artillery projectiles in ammunition load by
    2-3 times.
    The Krasnopol-M1''s improved control
    system allows firing at a lower cloud level
    and increasing its combat employment
    rate up to 30 percent.
    Good prospects of semiactive laser
    beam-guided projectiles and their high
    combat capabilities brought about the
    development of 120mm and 122mm
    projectiles of that kind for the regimentand
    battalion-level artillery systems.
    This factor called for the development of
    new small-size onboard projectile
    control system components: a gyroscopic
    target seeker, an autopilot unit, and a
    homing head. Consequently, the following
    guided projectiles and mines were
    successfully developed: the Kitolov-2
    guided projectile for the 120mm artillery
    pieces, the Kitolov-2M guided projectile
    for the 122mm artillery pieces, and the
    Gran guided mortar shell for the 120mm
    smoothbore and rifled mortars, which
    have no rivals in Russia and abroad.
    The employment of guided artillery
    projectiles for the 120mm mortars is of a
    peculiar importance when performing
    combat operations on difficult (rugged,
    mountainous) terrain where the use of
    120mm and particularly 152mm artillery
    pieces is limited and not always effective.
    Because of a high dispersion of
    standard (unguided) munitions, primarily
    mortar shells, in ad***ion to their low
    fire effectiveness, the accomplishment
    of combat missions by mortar units
    necessitates the delivery of a great
    amount of ammunition to their firing
    positions. Therefore, the use of the guided
    mortar weapon system with guided shell
    consumption being dozens times smaller
    than that of the unguided mortar shells
    is a radical trend aimed at enhancing
    effectiveness of the 120mm mortars,
    especially when performing combat
    actions by mobile groups consisting
    of platoons and companies, as well as
    when being far from ammunition supply
    points.
    As to the methods of loading and
    firing, the KBP Instrument Design
    Bureau-developed guided artillery
    projectiles do not differ from the unguided
    ones. Therewith, standard propelling
    charges of the respective artillery
    systems can be used as guided projectile
    propelling charges.
    Equipping the artillery systems with
    guided projectiles does not call for a
    change in the organic structure of
    artillery units. Therewith, the standard
    rangefinder alone is replaced by a laser
    ranger designator, which is used in two
    operating modes:
    ? rangefinding ?" similarly to the
    standard range finder;
    ? laser illumination ?" when firing the
    guided projectiles.
    Advanced fire control systems ?"
    pledge of artillery combat
    effectiveness
    In the process of developing of guided
    artillery weapon systems much attention
    is given to the advanced fire
    control systems, which ensure:
    ? mobility in use, including the
    employment by a crew of two or three, for
    reconnaissance and fire control on difficult
    terrain;
    ? multichannel control capability;
    ? target detection and identification at
    any time of day/night;
    ? topogeodetic preparation of commandobservation
    posts and fire positions;
    ? automated computation of firing data and
    exchange of information and commands
    between command posts and fire positions.
    The KBP Instrument Design Bureaudeveloped
    manpack (by crew of two)
    artillery fire control system meets the
    abovementioned requirements. The system
    comprises:
    ? a laser ranger designator;
    ? a thermal imaging sight;
    ? a gyrocompass;
    ? a computer;
    ? a satellite navigation system;
    ? a digital radio station.
    The manpack fire control systems
    significantly extend combat capabilities of
    the tube artillery.
    Combat effectiveness
    Combat effectiveness indices of the
    Krasnopol-M1 guided artillery weapon
    system are tabulated below.
    Investigations show that, when
    executing combat missions, the guided
    artillery weapon systems make it possible
    to decrease:
    ? the number of involved artillery pieces
    by 2-3 times;
    ? consumption of projectiles by 50-70
    times;
    ? combat mission executing costs by
    6-9 times.
