WAN (Wide Area Network) - Mạng diện rộng, kết nối máy tính trong nội bộ các quốc gia hay giữa các quốc gia trong cùng một châu lục.
LAN (Local Area Nework) - Mạng cục bộ, kết nối các máy tính trong một khu vực bán kính hẹp thông thường khoảng vài trăm mét.
Intranet gồm nhiều mạng LAN/WAN liên kết, nối với Internet và dùng Firewall hạn chế số lượng người truy cập.
Extranet gồm nhiều mạng Intranet liên kết cũng kết nối Internet và dùng Firewall.
Vậy khi nào 1 mạng nối với internet dùng firewall hạn chế thì được gọi là Intranet? Khi nào được gọi là Extranet?
