Tabloid culture: Facts or fiction
News is a topic society discusses every day, however how does society recognize which stories are factual and which ones are sensationalized? Society must be aware of the sources from which these stories are being told. The American public obtains news information from multiple sources. These sources are essentially comprised of two types; the tabloid version and the official, prestige news version of the events. There are many differences between these two sources of information.
Tabloids are the unofficial version of news stories. Tabloid weeklies exist in both magazine and newspaper form. They can be found in supermarkets, right at the checkout line as "impulse buys". Their subject matter is more sensational than factual. The journalists tend to exaggerate news events by using "secret sources" or "undisclosed sources" to corroborate their sensationalized stories. For example headlines tend to consist of UFO''s, television and movie stars, astrology and the occult, health miracles, and, of course, the latest sighting of Elvis Presley. Their headlines scream right out at you in an effort to make you buy, for example my favorite, "FROZEN CHICKEN WAKES!" The National Enquirer, Globe and National Star are the three biggest with combined circulation in the tens of millions.
On the other hand, there are the official sources of news information which include newspapers and television shows which are compromised of factual information regarding the events of a certain newsworthy story. For example, a city''s newspaper such as the Chicago Tribune, Omaha World Herald and Lincoln Journal Star are official newspapers. The stories in these newspapers are factual and are written by journalists who have researched the stories and obtained interviews from key characters in the events. Television shows such as Nightline, Larry King Live, and 60 minutes are all based on the factual information as well, taken from key people in the stories. These shows rely on the characters involved in the events to personally reveal their stories to the public. Unlike the tabloid versions of news events these sources are revealed and are not dramatized.

You can say, she one of the smart girls who knows how to stay under the radar of celebrities gone wild. Her co-star Vanessa Hudgens is all over the tabloids by some inappropriate pictures of her that''''s one way of getting attention. What would Ashley do? Basically nothing, the same thing like Hilary Duff would do. Do good things for your fans and they would appreciate you. If you do bad things, like Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan would do? That''''s no way of getting attention. Lindsay Lohan career is almost ending. Who''''s next? Britney Spears? Her career will go to court for the custody of her kids. Who will get them? Who knows and who cares?
You have to be smart in the business of the acting and the singing world. You can''''t go around into clubbing, drinking and taking drugs, that''''s no fun. You are giving Hollywood a bad name. If you choose to be in the acting and singing business you have to stick to it and get better at your game.
Staying under the radar is good and being good to your fans. Your fans will appreciated you and they will come to see you perform.
Ashley Tisdale is doing the right thing, being good to her fans and her fans will be good too.

Tabloid : Facts or Fiction
Tabloid Culture is by it''s own nature a work of speculative fiction.
It bases it''s ability to sell on total sensationalism. Which can be gotten either by written words but more often than not, by paparazzi style photos. There is a music video by Latin Singer and Jlo handbag - Marc Antony that showcases this problem, very well. A photograph captures a moment in time and freezes it. It does not give tone to the moment that passed. It can manipulated and changed around. It can be caught on a certain angle and suddenly it looks like Brad Pitt is kissing his assistant and not just being pleasant and giving her a peck on the cheek in greeting. Gasp!
Rarely if at all is there much fact in a tabloid article. This is why it is called tabloid and not "journalism". With the tabloid culture there isn''t a need to back things up with proof. Tabloid culture is about making the most out of whatever has been given to the tabloid. How often do we see far away graining shots of celebrities who clearly have no idea they are being photographed and then find some fairly intimately detailed story accomping the pictures, which will state such generic terms as " a close friend of celebrity x said" or "It is known within celebrity x''s circle of friends..." speculative words that are designed to titlate our senses and make the reader, jump to the conclusion the tabloid is selling you.
Wether it is right or wrong or factual.
There has been a slow coming, a rise of celebrities actually fighting tabloids back on their slandering, misleading articles. Most Celebrities can turn a blind eye but when a tabloid has truly overstepped it''s mark and tested that celebrities patience, they will retaliate not only by going public and issuing an actual media release but by suing the tabloid in question.
Tabloid Culture does not rely on, or care for actual fact. Tabloid culture is about giving consumers what they want, or they believe readers will read and buy their magazines for. So Celebrities are sought to fill a void. To create a fantasy of whatever proportion is needed to sell the tabloid in question. The only facts we can rely on from Tabloids are that they are recording a time/event/person of the moment. But we can not believe our eyes that that moment/person is being potrayed acurately. Tabloids do not have that big a generous heart.

To BE : I have just came to Be near 2 months, so I don''t really understand the work of the Content department. I think Content Department have a important role to improve the quality of Be club. I think We should prepare "topic Bank"(about 10 topic in reserve bank). Perhaps not only content DEP members prepare and build topics, but also all members of BE can do it. We can ask for contribution of all volunteers. I think that some members may have many good ideas for interesting topics but not yet ready to become MC. So we should give them chances to sacrifice for Be according to their ability. Moreover, from sunday to wednesday, It''s hard for New MC to choose topic, find out reference, prepare content and post format then look for vocabulary especially for working members like me. In this case, If somebody want to experience feeling of being MC but have not enough time to prepare many things, He can choose one in our topic Bank and just prepare to MC works.
I can not deny that if MCs can give topic and prepare everything, they will understand more clearly about the topic and the way they run offline meeting will be better. However, we should not be too much perfectionism but offer more opportunities for every members to contribute our Club. Each person has different ability, if they can do the things suitable their capacity, they will make great results. "Pro" Content Department, "Pro" MCs, "Pro" PR department, ("Pro" ăn chơi) are our purpose???

Content Department did prepare a topic bank and I think now it''s in Mr. TA hands. There''s hundreds of topics. You can ask him. The fact is that MCs always try to choose the hottest topic which haven''t been updated to the topic bank yet. Believe me, those that we have chosen so far much more interesting than any in that bank. However, if one is stuck at finding a topic, she/he can pick 1 randomly from that bank. We did collect topics from mems before but this method seems ineffective. Big sis, do you think that this time we Content Dep. should gather together and find an effective way *****stainable development of us?
