GENERATION GAP​

Part 1: Warm-up game (15 minutes): Who has the best memory?
The first person introduces about him/self by saying the name and one thing he/she has. Next person REPEATS what the previous one(s) said and then also says his/her name and one thing he/she has. Keep doing like that until the last person.

For example: Person 1: My name is A, i have a book. Person 2: His name is A, he has a book. My name is B, i have an apple. Person 3: his name is A, he has a book. Her name is B, she has an apple. I'm C, i have a computer .......

Part 2: Free talk. Work in pairs (25 minutes)
Q1. What is a generation gap?
Q2. People say that "Gap between generations is more and more popular in families nowadays”. Do you agree with that? Does generation gap exist in your family?
Q3. What are the consequences of generation gap? How serious do you think these consequences are?
Q4. How can we overcome or who can be the bridge for this issue?

Part 3: Presentation + Q&A (20 minutes)

Part 4.Work in group ROLE PLAY (40minutes)
Situation: You and your girlfriend/boyfriend have been in love for 4 years and two of you decided to get married. But your parents don't like his/her for some reasons (poor family, unstable job ...), they want you to marry other girl/boy such as a daughter/son from a wealthy family  . How would you deal with this situation? Will you fight for your happiness or follow your parent's arrangement? Your mission is persuading your parents to accept your girlfriend/boyfriend.
Divide the participants into 4 groups. 2 groups will choose they are parents and 2 others will be son/daughter. Each two groups parent - son/daughter play together to keep their point of view. Which group has more perusable opinions will be the winner.

Report “Generation gap” workshop

14:50, many came to GALEC 10 minutes prior to the worshop entitled “Generation gap” to make friends with one another and to learn some more about the intriguing topic.
After the warm-up game, GALECers got to know the others’ names and made fun with some new so-called pet names: Duc (has a) dog, Manh muscle, Uoc umbrella, Hoa hospital...

In the “free talk” section, we shared our views on this issue with many questions: what is generation gap? Have you ever experienced that Situation? How to overcome?....



Ms. Homephone seemed excited when sitting next to our hot boy 



Even though Do had some must-do things at home, she was bent on coming to GALEC and joining the club at the later parts.
In the last 30 mins, GALECers had a blast rooting for the 2 teams: parents vs. Children with a small debate in role-play version.



Parent team was scheming to refuse the kid’s girl friend.



Child team was giving it the best to persuade their parents to accept the wedding. They even made the girl... pregnant as the last resort.

“Honey, cut to the chase quickly, I feel obnoxious and dizzy. Our baby is 3 month old already...”

Due to time limitation, we could not come up to an agreement but we all knew that in order to gain a happy ending, each generation has to know how to listen, how to step back andhow to set our ego aside in many cases.
