    Hello there GALEC!
It has been fun joining you guys last Sunday. I think there is so much growth potential in GALEC. See you!
Here is my small gift for the members:
Avoid being "a fish out of water" in an English speaking club
In the past, I used to chair the English club of University of Economics. And believe it or not, more than 10 years until now, I am still eager to join that kind of activitiy. Having said that, I think what I am going to mention below will benefit those, who have not quite getting the hang of participating effectively in one.
How to avoid being "a fish out of water" when you come to an English club?
    1. Do some reading about a club before deciding to join. Make sure it matches your interest (kind of topics) , style (kind of activities), needs (skills development if any)
    2. Once you decide to come and give it a try, make the best out of already-spent time. Even if it turns out to be not what you expected, you can always "save the day" by using it as perfect opportunity to make new friends, build up your network. Better yet, you can drop some lines to club organizers about where and how you think they should improve. That kind of contribution is always appreciated, and hey, who knows, they may see you as qualified to join the Board
    3. Remember this golden rule about group communication: treat others the way you would want them to treat you. Practically it means to shake hands, to smile to everyone you come across with eye contact, to ask and listen to whoever you speak to, to encourage others to speak up, bla bla bla ... in the most active way possible. This is exactly how a fish look like when it''s in the water!
    4. Be polite and sensitive all the time. Keep all discussion neutral and respect others'' point of viewa no matter how silly they may sound to you, because at that very same moment they are thinking the same way about your idea. Let''s not have World War III to settle this, won''t we?
    5. Respect club organizers and do what you are told. You just enjoy your time there when they have to work their ass off. Guess who need some respect?
    6. Take every oportunity that comes your way to stand up and speak up. Even if it does not sound very smart, at least you have proved that you are confident, skilled and not selfish to share.
Okay, enough said. If you are not sure these 7 points address you, please check the description: stay quite, preferrebly in a corner, not like to be disturbed (invited to join activities), shake head and yawn quite a lot, reply question with short, plain answers, not care to elaborate your point, think the topic is boring and leave half way... Is it you?
