    INTRODUCTION:
The Department of International Relations offers several graduate degree programs. We offer students an opportunity to learn and grow through our Department and contiguous study through other Boston University programs. The following is a list of degree programs offered by the Department and a list of admissions requirements and general degree requirements that apply to all programs:
Master of Arts in International Relations
Master of Arts in International Relations with a Certificate in African Studies
Master of Arts in International Relations and International Communication
Master of Arts in International Relations and Environmental Policy
Master of Arts in International Relations and Religion
Master of Arts in International Relations and Master of Business Administration
Master of Arts in International Relations and Juris Doctor

    Admission
Please follow these instructions for the first five degree programs listed above.
All applicants to the one year or two year MA programs in international relations for the fall semester are required *****bmit a complete application by April 15 (January 15 for admission with financial aid). Applications for the spring semester must be complete by October 15. Students are admitted on a full or part-time basis in accordance with the Graduate School rules.
A complete application must include Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test scores (average scores for the fall 2001 cohort: Verbal 560 / 76%, Quantitative 650 / 68%, Analytical 660 / 77%), official undergraduate transcripts, three academic letters of recommendation and a personal essay. Non-native English speaking students that did not receive an undergraduate degree from a university, where English is the primary language used for the school administration and classroom instruction, must demonstrate proficiency in English by submitting a TOEFL score. You may request an application and catalog by contacting our Admissions Office directly via phone 617-353-2696 or via the Admissions Office web form.
    Scholarship
All applicants for these four degree programs are considered for merit based scholarship money if they indicate on the application form that they wish to be considered for financial aid. Applications received by the January 15th deadline will receive full consideration for scholarship money. Scholarships are not restricted to U.S. citizens. A typical scholarship will pay for roughly half of a student's tuition for an entire academic year. In ad***ion, we require all scholarship recipients to work 10-12 hours per week as a Research Assistant for one of our faculty members. Of a typical entering class of 65 students, roughly the top 1/3 of the students will receive a department scholarship.
Complete applications should be sent to the address below:
Graduate School of Arts and Sciences
    705 Commonwealth Avenue
    Room 112
    Boston, Massachusetts 02215
Please follow these instructions for the dual degree programs with the School of Management and with the Law School.
Applications for the 3 1/2 year MA/JD program or the 2 1/2 year MA/MBA program must use either the Law School or School of Management application for admission. You will be able to note on their applications that you wish to be admitted to the dual degree program with the International Relations Department.
There are a few substitutions involved with this application process. You will fulfill all the application requirements of either the Law School or the School of Management. For example, for the Law School application, you must submit LSAT scores (average score for fall 2001 cohort 163 / 90%), two letters of recommendation, and writing essays. Similarly, for the School of Management application, you must submit GMAT scores (average score for fall 2001 cohort 600 / 71%), two character references, and the three required essays with the instead of our usual GRE scores, three academic letters of recommendation, and one personal statement.
Applications for the dual degrees are reviewed first by either the Law School or School of Management Admissions Committees and finally by the Department of International Relations Admissions Committee. If your application is rejected by either the Law School or the School of Management, the International Relations Department will not review your materials.
Students in the dual degree programs are not eligible for scholarship money from the International Relations Department. Any scholarship money will come from either the School of Management or the Law School.
You may request their applications for admission by contacting them directly:
Law School at 617-353-3100 or via the web http://www.bu.edu/law/admissions/request
School of Management at 617-353-9108 or via the web http://management.bu.edu/admit/grad.html

U 130E International Relations 3 cr. Not open to senior level political science majors except with consent of instr. Review of the evolution of the nation-state system and survey of contemporary international actors, issues and forces for stability and change.
    http://www.middlebury.edu/~ipe/courses.html
    Good luck
