TOEFL vs IELTS, who's the winner ?

I'd learnt TOEFL but finally took IELTS ! Quite a few people argue which evaluates the candidates' skills more accurately.
Personally, I think each has its pros and cons and we should not take the former on primary and vice versa.

Guys, show me your opinion.

I will take TOEIC `cause it's me who turn left when all others turn right ! And I am right but TOEIC is trully tough. Give it a try, why not?

If you're one of these people, frankly dude, neither TOEFL nor IELTS does the job of evaluating the examinees well enough. it's true colleges in the US still require non-native speaker applicants *****bmit TOEFL score, yet I know guys whose scores are sky high and cannot make it right when it comes to writing a true essay. Honestly, I think American colleges have to resort to using the TOEFL because they currently have no better means of measurement. SAT verbal might be one. however, it seems to be too hard for international students.

If you have an IELTS score of 6.0 and complete secondary school curriculum, you can apply for an undergraduate course in England, Australia... Similarly, you can study as a postgraduate if you have 6.5 IELTS (at least) and already graduate.
However, TOEFL evaluates only your English ability. You are usually required SAT to study undergraduate in America, and GRE, GMAT to study postgraduate.
I think it's the reason why my teacher (an IELTS native teacher) said: "IELTS is more academic than TOEFL." Moreover, IELTS evaluates all 4 English skills: Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking.
The weakness of IELTS lies on the accuracy of its evaluation. the result of writing and speaking depends very much on different teachers.

Right, I totally agree with longatum at the point that getting top-notch score on both doesn't mean your writing skill is good enough. I suppose that non-native speakers can hardly achieve to a truly high level of writing, is's just the matter of familiar, don't you think. SAT, I might think that it's different from TOEFL isn't it. it more likely tests your intelligence and innate ability rather than your English. Anyway, tests just are tests and somehow it's not that hard if you know how to approach it.

Vào mùa hè này tớ định đi học Tiếng Anh 1 trong 2 loại trên,theo các bác thì nên học cái nào tốt hơn nhỉ.
Ở Hà Nội này thì thầy cô nào dạy Toefl,hay Ielts hay nhất mong mọi người chỉ giúp.Thanks

Thầy cô giáo thì có nhiều lắm..., nhưng nếu đã tính chuyện học luyện thi cách tốt nhất là chú em phải tự học thôi...còn thầy cô dù có siêu đẳng cỡ nào thì cũng chỉ là 20% cho sự thành công.

Học gì thì còn phụ thuộc vào mục đích học của bạn. Điểm Ielts cần để xin vào các trường đại học ở Australia va Anh, còn muốn đi Mỹ thì cần TOEFL. Còn nếu như bạn chỉ muốn học để nâng cao trình độ thôi thì theo tớ ngữ pháp bạn có thể tự học, từ vựng thì chăm chỉ đọc sách một chút. Còn nghe nói thì tự học hơi khó đấy , tớ không biết bạn midle_nowhere học siêu thế nào, theo tớ thì ở HN có Apollo dạy có vẻ khá, nhưng hichic đắt vật vã. À quên, Apollo dạy tiếng Anh-Mỹ, còn bạn muốn học tiếng Anh-Anh thì chắc Language Link hay Oxford gì đấy. Đi xa cũng lâu rồi, thông tin hơi cũ, thông cảm nhé!

up to the moment i'm doing the posting work ( i mean at this moment ) ielts is better ( also mean harder , don't you think ) .
maybe toefl 2004 ( in the year 2004) be the suitable rivalry ( with ielts )
