Sadness and Depression: Perhaps the greatest problem one has to face in life is how to overcome sadness and depression. Sadness is a momentary feeling. One feels sad when one encounters something that does not happen the way it was expected. Sadness is not an illness, rather it's an emotional stage that can be wished away. One is sad because of the loss of a loved one. One is sad because the clouds are dark, the sky is not blue. One is sad because the music is slow, the feelings are overwhelmed. One is sad because simply there is nothing to be happy about ....

Depression, on the other hand, is a medical illness. It cannot be willed away. It could only be cured by the right medicines. Usual behaviours of depression include feeling worthless, losing sleep, seeing life with dark colors, and worst of all, the thought of ending it once for all. Depression is not momentary. It happens in a period of time. When somebody is in depression, he/she loses the purpose of living, he/she lacks the energy to lead a healthy lifestyle, he/she has no hopes and no motivations.

What does one do to cope with sadness and depression? If you are sad, you can wish it to go away. Treasure yourself, your feelings. Cherish what you have had, have and will have. Cheer up. Try to look at the bright side of things. And most important of all, try to be happy. When you are in depression, go to see a doctor, take care of yourself and take necessary anti-stress medicines.

Well, if you are having a problem in life, share with us. Together we shall discuss, and together we shall overcome our problems.

I'm sad now, and I'm really in a low spirit.
I wanna do everything just to forget my sadness, but it doesn't seem easy.
How can I get it out of my mind?

Hey nO_mErCy, thanks for creating this topic.
For me, I've been through sadness and depression.
The worst one happened around 1 year ago. I constantly felt disoriented, lost, and really depressed. I wanted to give up everything, and went somewhere ( to a beach...) to totally relax, sleep, and didn't bother thinking about anything. My grade at school was badly affected. I knew it was harming me, but I just couldn't try any more.
Anyway, when I got over it, I realized and learned so many things that totally changed the way I live, the way I looked at myself, and others. Thanks God for teaching me such a big lesson !
Another thing's that when I'm sad, I easily gain weight, because I long for sugar and anything sweet. And I'm hungry all the time Therefore, I always eat to forget my sadness, and worries.

Homesick: Everyone of us must have experienced living far from home at least once in our life. It might be for only a few days, a few weeks, a few months, or even many years. When being apart from our loved ones, our family and friends, we often feel homesick. This is usually seen in girls. The most common picture perhaps is that of a girl holding her family's album and crying her eyes out. That does not mean a guy will not have homesick. On the contrary, guys feel homesick as often as girls do. They may be able or try to hide it well. And yet, hiding an inner feeling is not helpful, not to say it's the other way around.
Many times, in the dorm, in student residences, I have heard sobbing from next door. When I knocked on the door, I was greated with a swollen face and red eyes, but everytime I asked the answer was the same - "I'm alright". Why do people try to hide it when they are homesick? Why cant we all share our feelings and try to get through it together? These have always been questions that bother me.
Being homesick is not being weak. It's rather showing our deepest feelings, our wishes to be there, to our loved ones. Homesick is not an illness, and one can willed or wished away by thinking of good times in the past, and by imagining wonderful moments lying ahead.
    No Mercy!

How can you get it out of your mind? Well make yourself busy with assignments and work single-mindedly at them, so you'll probably have no time to worry. You can also look to your friends, where are they? Friends are always best people we can lean on when we're tired and out. Have fun with them, you can go eating, shopping to buy some clothes or sth like that. We girls are never fed up with hanging out right? If you're addicted to music then buy some new CDs and free your mind, cause music will surely bring you great excitement. Can you play sports? It will both make you feel healthier and happier, I'm quite sure. It?Ts terribly hot these days and go swimming would be a perfect idea And after a long day of with all of those activities, try to sleep, have sweet dreams and a new day is coming.
Everything will flow you know, nothing lasts forever and so does sadness. It'll soon fade away, you have to believe. The best thing is still ahead so keep on going or you'll never see it.
As we go on, we remember all the times we had together
As our lives change, come whatever
We will still be FRIENDS FOREVER
