Cross culture

Besides Directness/Indirectness, Vocal Qualiy is an interesting aspect to look into Cross Culture. I am hereby give you the abstract of an CC assignment made by a group of my friends when they were in 7th semester. VOCAL QUALITY​

According to Winston Bremerk : ?oTo know other?Ts language and not his culture is a very good way to make a fluent fool on onê?Ts self?, we can see that culture plays a very important role in communication. It is culture that has significant effect on ones?T behaviour and interactions with others. In fact, if one doesn?Tt know the culture of people with whom he intends to make a communication, he could hardly understand their behaviours and attitudes. In most of these cases, it may lead to misunderstandings and culture shocks. He keeps wondering why one can behave like this or that and he does not realize its cultural differences. Hence, cross culture study can help people have sound awareness about different cultures so that people can narrow the cultural gap. Moreover, learning culture is enriching. The more one learns about others, the more clearly he sees his own culture .
In this paper, we find it interesting to study the ten vocal qualities used by both the Vietnamese and the Anglicist. Our knowledge of culture tells us that each person is characterised by one vocal quality. Through his voice, we can guess where he is, where he comes from and what he is like. Especially in cross-cultural point of view, the vocal quality shows the similarities as well as the differences between people from the two countries. For instance, the Anglicist and the Vietnamese who have the same vocal quality may have different characters, attitudes or opinions, etc. Therefore, this study helps us realize these features and then we can have suitable behaviour when making conversation with the Anglicist. We must say that this topic not only fascinates us but also many other students of English because it helps us decide how to behave with each kind of person.

To nktvnvn: EC is where to practice Eng n da very first way to practice is to read eng in posts (n the second 1 is to write posts in eng also). So if possible, we should discuss in Eng.
Yet dont worry ! I have some materials in Vietnamese also, I''ll post them l8r.
To Brit: the full assignment is pretty long (more than 15 pages) so i''d rather send it thru email (or attachment). I''m sorry 4 not replying your PM ''coz i read it while in Ha Long bay.
