Làm gì có chuyện như thế được. Phải tìm hiểu lại xem thế nào, nếu Houllier mà ra đi thì LFC thực sự mất mát khá lớn.

You can never tell these days with the press, whether something is ?~real?T or simply an attempt at stirring the pot. For instance, the ?~Fowler to Leeds?T story looked like a load of hogwash for months, and then suddenly it proved to be well founded. Even categoric denials can?Tt be taken as the truth. In fact, many people think a public denial is the smoking gun that signals the truth.
So whether Martin O?TNeill is coming to Liverpool or not remains a mystery. But it has certainly got me thinking. What surprised me when I started reading all of this O?TNeill gossip and rumour, was how my ?~gut?T reacted to it. Instead of thinking ?owe don?Tt need him, our current manager is sound,? I actually heard an inner voice say ?ogod, that would be great!?
I heard many Liverpool fans earlier this season, asking who could replace Gerard Houllier if things didn?Tt turn around. I had many fans write in response to some of my criticism of GH, asking the same question. I think the answer is Martin O?TNeill.
This is not my knee-jerk reaction to a latest embarrassing defeat. I?Tve actually thought about this for several months. Gerard Houllier lead us out of the wilderness and back into the promised land. He did a fantastic job of taking an aimless club and putting it back on the road *****ccess. But the 80:20 rule seems to be in effect. He was very effective taking us on the first 80% of the road to recovery. But the final 20% seems beyond him. And the more frustrated he has become at not succeeding, the more irrational and illogical his decisions and comments have become. The man, sadly, has also been through a life threatening and highly traumatic experience. He denies it had a negative effect, but in truth, he?Ts never looked or acted the same since.
So what do I see in Martin O?TNeill? The skeptics will claim that he?Ts achieved nothing other than winning the 2 horse race for the Scottish title. Let?Ts face it, even Walter Smith succeeded up there! In fact, most managers of the Old Firm clubs who?Tve had a go in the premiership, have failed rather miserably. One of them in fact started the rot at Liverpool.
But it?Ts not jut winning the Scottish league that has me believing in him. It?Ts the overall picture of his managerial career to date. He worked wonders at Leicester City, leading them into the upper regions of the Premiership, playing attractive and effective football.
His accomplishments at Celtic saw him continue in the tra***ions he?Td shown at Leicester. He took an average Celtic side, deep in the shadow of 9-in-a-row Rangers, and made them a force again. In fact, they not only reclaimed Scottish supremacy over Rangers, they humiliated them in the process. They won the league by a staggering 18 points, won 33 out of 38 games losing only 1, scored 94 goals in 38 games, and had a goal difference of +76. Out of the 114 points to play for, Celtic managed 103 of them. Now I don?Tt care how skeptical you might be, those figures make for quite startling reading.
Celtic also show the ?~O?TNeill style?T he was carefully crafting at Leicester. i.e. attractive, passing football with a winning mentality. In the 1999-2000 season, Leicester finished 8th, with a credible 10 wins at home that season. (A total we might not see this year.) For a club like Leicester, finishing 8th is almost the equivalent of winning the title.
But while these stats are impressive, it isn?Tt just these that convince me of O?TNeill?Ts ability. It?Ts his whole aura. It?Ts his logical post match comments, the determination and fire in his eyes, and the fierce will to win you can hear in every comment. He?Ts straightforward, honest and passionate. He?Ts one of those managers who makes you sit up and listen, and admire what he has to say. In every interview I?Tve seen with Celtic or Leicester players, they have a deep admiration for his style, approach and honesty. They respect him, and he certainly seems to respect them.
He has one other thing in his favour. Youth. Whoever succeeds with Martin O?TNeill (and I?Tm convinced whoever gets him next will succeed) will see long term success, because he?Ts only going to get better the more he learns, and he?Ts still in his 40?Ts.
I don?Tt want to see Houllier leave Liverpool, I really don?Tt, and I know that his ego would take a battering to be asked to move upstairs. In fact, he might decide to leave is asked to move upstairs, but I think it?Ts time to make him that offer.
Let?Ts face facts. We?Tve just witnessed the worst run of form for 80 years, the FA cup exit to Palace, and being knocked out of the champion?Ts league by a team of Swiss no-hopers. There?Ts the inability to score goals, the mediocrity of the squad, the negative tactics, the players-in, players-out decision making and the team and player selection. Everything I see tells me it is time to make a change.
I just wonder, given all that, would bringing Martin O?TNeill in really be making the wrong decision?
Or is the wrong decision to keep the faith with Gerard Houllier?

Liv đã liên hệ với Capello
theo tin của tạp chí thể thao Gazzetta dello thì Liv đang liên hệ với HLV Capello ( HLV của Roma) để thay thế cho HLV đương nhiệm Houllier vào mùa hè tới sau khi ông này trải qua một mùa giải khó khăn ở Italia.
Cả Barca và Bayern Munich đều đã liên hệ với ông, cho nên không chắc là ông này có thể đến Liv sớm.

Vignal đã sẵn sàng thi đấu cho đội hình một của Liv mùa giải tới.
Gregory Vignal đang hy vọng sẽ thời gian đá ở Bastia - Pháp ( theo hợp đồng cho mượn ) sẽ giúp anh có cơ hội có mặt trong đội hình một của Liv mùa giải tới. Hậu vệ U21 người Pháp này sẽ trở lại Afield vào tháng 7 tới sau khi đến Pháp vào tháng trước
Ở mùa giải khởi đầu, Vignal là lựa chọn số một ở vị trí hậu vệ cánh trái.
Nhưng sau khi gặp phải chấn thương vào tháng 11 năm 2001, anh không còn được chơi ở đội hình ở đội một nữa.
Trả lời phỏng vấn tờ L'Equipe, anh nói: "Để chơi cho Liv bạn luôn phải ở phong độ tốt nhất, điều này thực sự không phù hợp với tôi. Tôi bị quá nhiều trấn thương và có 3 chỗ vỡ ở chân.
Hợp đồng cho mượn này hoàn hảo cho cả tôi và Bastia. Tháng 7 tới, tôi hy vọng sẽ quay lạ Liv và quay lại để chơi bóng."

tin vui cho LFC : Kirland sẽ không phải trải qua phẫu thuật với chấn thương ở đầu gối của anh trong trận gặp Crystan Palace. Tuy không thể thi đấu trong giai đoạn cuối của mùa giải này, nhưng anh sẽ trở lại vào giai đoạn tập luyện trước mùa bóng tới.
Điều này rất quan trọng vì nếu phải phẫu thuật thì anh sẽ không phục hồi kịp. Bản thân Kirland rất vui vì điều này, không ai muốn bị động chạm dao kéo cả.

Ông Houllier có khả năng trở về pháp để làm Director cho Monaco mùa bóng tới. Tuy nhiên, nhà báo Pháp là Jean Michel Rouet lại tin chắc rằng ông sẽ kết thúc sự nghiệp HLV của mình ở Anfield, hiện thời thì Houllier vẫn còn đang băn khoăn về điều này
