    University of Geneva Scholarships
    Link: http://graduateinstitute.ch/corporate/teaching/admissions/fees-scholarships_en.html
    Scholarships
    Each year the Graduate Institute awards several scholarships to Master and PhD students. Awards are based on academic merit and financial need.
    There are three categories of scholarship:
    õ? Full scholarships: with a few exceptions, these are worth CHF 18,000. Recipients are exempt from Graduate Institute tuition fees; however they are still required to pay University of Geneva tuition fees. Some full grants are awarded subject to special con***ions (duration of study and/or geographical origin of students).
    õ? Partial scholarships: the value of these grants varies according to the individual needs of the recipient student. These grants do not cover tuition fees which recipients of partial grants are required to pay.
    õ? Tuition scholarships: these grants cover tuition fees for one academic year. They are awarded to exceptional students.
    Scholarships are awarded for one year, with the possibility of renewal.
    The different scholarships awarded by the Institute include:
    õ? Scholarships from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, intended for nationals from countries of the South or countries in transition;
    õ? Scholarships financed by a Geneva-based foundation and granted to students from developing countries on the proviso that they undertake to return to their country at the end of their studies so that their fellow countrymen may benefit from their training;
    õ? Elemâr Hantos scholarships awarded by the Fondation pour lõ?TEurope centrale and intended for students from the region;
    õ? Fondation Ousseimi scholarships intended for students from Me***erranean countries;
    õ? One or two Tokyo Foundation scholarships usually awarded to PhD students;
    õ? Shelby and Kathryn Davis scholarships intended for PhD students from American universities or from Muslim countries;
    õ? Pierre du Bois scholarships intended for Latin-American students of the Instituteõ?Ts International History and Politics PhD programme;
    õ? Gallatin scholarships intended to finance 10-monthsõ?T study by a PhD student in an American university of their choice;
    õ? The Washington DC Alumni Chapter Scholarship awarded to a first year PhD student from an American university;
    õ? McKinsey tuition scholarships awarded to students with outstanding personal and academic records;
    õ? Scholarships from an anonymous donor recommended by the Geneva-based CARIGEST SA and intended for Masterõ?Ts students for the 2009-2010 academic year; and
    õ? A grant from the Bank SYZ & CO SA awarded to a Masterõ?Ts student in economics for the 2009-2010 academic year.
    Candidates who wish to apply for financial assistance must return the duly completed scholarship request form together with their application form by 15 January 2010.
    Current students are also eligible to apply for scholarships to assist them with their studies. The deadline for applications is 30 May 2010.
    Other financial assistance is available from:
    The University of Genevaõ?Ts Bureau de lõ?Tinformation sociale, the Bureau Prix-Bourses-Subsides (information in French only) and the University of Geneva office for FFELP.
    The Swiss Confederation Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students
    The Permanent Mission of United Arab Emirates in Geneva, for UAE Nationals (contact: Mr Osama Fargal).

    Note: Students in receipt of grants from sources other than the Institute or the Swiss Government are required to pay the Instituteõ?Ts tuition fees.
    Employment possibilities at the Institute
    There are a certain number of paid employment opportunities available at the Graduate Institute including teaching assistant positions and general support positions (telephone operators, library assistants, IT assistants, etc).

    Ghent University, Belgium
    Master grant for student from developing country
    Link :
    https://www.ugent.be/en/research/devcooperation/mastergrants.htm
    Scholarship type and duration
    The master scholarships are awarded for the duration of the studies, aiming at the delivery of a Ghent University diploma after max. 2 years of study. The scholarship is in principle paid for the total duration of the studies. In case of a 2-year study programme, the 2nd year will be paid upon successful completion of the first year (minimum 60 cre***s)
    Funding
    The scholarship consists of an allowance of EUR 964 per month and the yearly tuition fee with a maximum of EUR 80. In case of increased tuition fee for the master''s programme, Ghent University will only reimburse the refundable part. Airline ticket and visa costs are carried by the student.
    Eligibility criteria
    Degree
    Applicants for master''s programmes should already have obtained a bachelor degree when they submit the application.
    Nationality
    The applicants must come from and should be nationals of one of the developing countries on the country list of developing countries. Priority, however, will be given to the categories on the DAC List of Aid Recipients with the lowest levels of development and income. Priority will also be given to students applying for an ICP-programme whose country is not on the VLIR-country list but on the UGent list.
    Language and proficiency
    The application is to be made in English. The applicant should have a very good command of the English language. Click here to see the requirements.
    Selection procedure
    Eligibility check
    Application files that do not comply with all eligibility criteria or submission requirements, will not be considered for selection.
    Selection Committee
    The Council for Development Cooperation (COS or Commissie Ontwikkelingssamenwerking) makes a selection of the applications based in part on the recommendations obtained from a working group of this Council and proceeds to formulate well-founded recommendations to the Executive Committee of Ghent University.
    Selection criteria
    The recommendations are based on:
    - The qualifications of the applicant for the master grant (this also implies that the chances of overly qualified candidates might increase);
    - Students who successfully follow the first year of a Master Grant programme at Ghent University may have a higher chance of selection;
    - There is no strict age limit, altough applicants below 40 years are preferred;
    - The significance of the master''s programme for the student''s country;
    - Validation of the knowledge in the student''s country;
    - The student''s nationality. In the event of equal rankings on the basis of the quality of the file, priority will be given to the categories on the DAC List of Aid Recipients with the lowest level of development and income. Priority will also be given to students applying for an ICP-programme whose country is not on the VLIR-UOS country list but on the UGent list;
    - The motivation of the applicant.
