hoho, I''m wrong in using grammar but I let you know one more thing: "hardly" is also used *****ggest that something is improbable, unlikely or unreasonable, got it??
Thanks for reading carefully my tripe, hehe

    Hi Bro Hung,
Long time no see. How are you?
There are some useful books about Vietnamese language, namely , Vietnamese language- some aspects in phonetics, grammar, semantics by Prof Cao Xuân Hạo, Vietnamese grammar by Prof Nguyễn Tài Cẩn. Enjoy them !

This is a place to discuss, not to recommend books ! If all people go to find books to read but not discuss and give out personal opinions, i think this forum has no aim to exist. Why don''t you have any idea about this topic ?

    Hi Bro Hung,
Thank you for your concerns. I am still fine and stay in same place.

    Miss mieumieu,
My Vienamese is too lousy to give any opinions. It ''s out of my reach. Anyway, let ''s consider and have fun with a interesting Vietnamese word.
I am sure that everybody here knows that '' Làm thinh'' means ''keep quiet''. At the same time, we know ''làm'' +sth = do sth and ''thinh'' = thanh=sound. Therefore, ''làm thinh'' should mean ''make a sound'', it not is? But...làm thinh = keep quite or make no sound. How can that happen?

    Hi Mieumieu,
My fault . I should not digress from your topic . Here is what I''d say if a foreigner asked me :
    - Vietnameses are a hardworking people. We value academia over practical knowledge (but that is changing) . Family nucleus is the core of all activities .
I have tons of other values about Vietnamese but will let other forumers to voice theirs.
