Nowadays in Vietnam, the youth generation tend to study abroad. It's quite easy to understand the reason : they're looking for better education systems in developed countries, and hopefully they will be equipped with the best knowledge although not all of them afford to study abroad. Hence they may need financial aids, scholarships, supports from government or something like that from other resources. In this writing, i just want to share what i know about edu systems of U.S. and Southeast Asea ( even though it's not much ). If it's useful for you, i'll be glad. Study in USA
    Ã~ School, college & university:
In U.S., the word " school" describes any place people learn. You can call a college a "school", even call a university a "school" and you can use the word "school" for any English languague institute, graduate program, or secondary ( "high") school.
A two â?" year college or university offers a Bachelor's Degree. Programs that offer these degree are called " undegraduate" schools. American use the word " university" & not "college " when they talk about graduate study.
Ã~ What's the difference between an American college & a university:A four â?" year college will offer a Bachelor's degree and perhaps one or two master's degrees. A university also offers a four â?" year bachelor's degree, but also offers many advanced degrees ( master's or doctorate ). a Bachelor's degree form a college & a university are equivalent.
Ã~ Community college: this is a two â?" year public college. You also graduate from these schools with an Associate's degree. Community colleges are very good choice for international students: ESL programs, intensive English, small classes & less competitive. You can often tranfer your cre***s to a four â?" year college or university in a " college tranfer " program as a part of your undegraduate degree.
    Ã~ Paying for education:
Depending on your choice of university, the costs can be quite high or very affordable. The mmore well known a school, generally the higher the total costs. think of at least many thousand US dolars and possibly over twenty thousand per academic year.
International students are not allowed to work during their first academic year in the U.S.A. You will need to show proof that you are fully able *****pport yourself during your studies.
If you were to receive a scholarship or loan from a school, it would be a very small portion of the total amount you would need for an academic year in the United states.
    Estimated average costs ( 2002 â?" 2003 ):
U.S. colleges & universities ( including : tuition and fees; room and board; books and supplies; transportation & personal expenses ).
Private schools: high cost: total $ 46,500
    low cost : $ 23,500.
    State schools: high cost: $31,000
    low cost: $16,000
Ã~ However, you must be considerate of staying safe and other problems you have to solve! StudyUSA magaz. or asking who is living in u.s.will be useful...

    Study in singapore:
Singapore ( Sg ) is known as one of the dragons in Asea. As i knew, many universities there have 5th â?" year training and in common, the training programs are hard for almost all students. Studying in Sg you must accept some "laws" stricly, for example, you will be fined if you drop class, fail the exams..etc.,. I saw a case that several years ago, a Vietnamese group studied in Sg but they couldn't stand the hard programs of universities, then they had to leave for Canada. But nowadays, many vietnamses students willing to face up with it. Because apart from that, Sg is wonderful country to study in, especially you can meet good English environment, good facilities. Sg government are providing more opportunities for Vietnamese students to get scholarships in order to study in Sg. Furthermore, after graduation, it's possible to find a suitable job 'coz Sg lacks of "grey" employees. You'll have good opportunity to find your ideal job if your major is Computer science or electrical informatics etc., ( such as in IT field ). Remember cost of a Sg education is not cheap, besides the cost of living there is also expensive as well.

    Vietnam ??" why not?
Don't think that VN is developing country so its edu system is not good. In fact, i did find both advantages and disadvantages in our edu system.
Educaton is very important to vietnamese. Even in feudal, people had looked at edu standard of a man to "assess" how good he was. Also, teaching is one of the greetest jobs, students always respect their teachers. Through our history you can understand what i said. It's not exaggerated, about 10 ??" 20 years ago, many Laotians and Cambodians were trained in VN. After graduation, they came back their countries and held high positons in authority/government. Presently, everything is normal, students from Laos & Cambodia study in VN as a symbol of friendship.
On another hand, there are so many disadvantages. Entering a university is difficult and so competitive. If who fails this entrance exam, he will feel very disappointed like the door of life's shut beyond his eyes. That's a result of an edu policy not very good. Besides, facilities, multimedia, English ...are the problems need solving. In ad***ion, students are taught a lot of theoretical lessons, they short of practical skills. It's not convenient for their work and promotion in future.
I realized a basic ??" defference between Sg edu and our edu, just by a simple example. In algebra and caculus ( maths), in VN books there are full of formulas, rules with such difficult ??" but - monotonous exercises. In Sg books, except for formulas and rules, it tends to teach students skills of calculation and business management which are very necessary in real life...Here, look at this simple question:
" At the end of December a company shows a $ 5000 profit. Profit increases at the rate of $ 1500 per month for the next three months, remains constant for a further 2 months and after this period, declines at the rate of $ 1900 per month.
a/ Represent the above information on a graph with the vertical axis representing profit.
b/ Use the graph to determine the profit at the end of both August and September.
c/ When does the company begin trading at a loss..."
    And so on.......
In conclusion, Study in anywhere, you can ( or can't ) improve your standard of knowledge , make a breakthrough in your studies, it mainly depends on yourself. Designing your future!
