    On the Move
Human beings are constantly "on the move". We move from job to job, city to city, state to state, or country to country. If we move from one state to another state within the U.S., we make an "interstate move." If we move to another country, we make a "transcontinental move."

Prepositional Phrases (preposition plus noun / pronoun)

    1. to another state
    2. to another country

    GRAMMAR
Remember that a noun is a person, place, or thing. Some nouns are "count" nouns, while others are "non-count" nouns. A count noun is one that can be counted. A non-count noun is one that is measured by some other means rather than counting individual items, either by using words like "some" or "a lot of" or by specifying a measurement, such as a cup of water or a liter of air. Here are some examples:
    count nouns:
    1. book (I read two books every week.)
    2. plant (Please water my plants while I am away.)
    3. donut (She brought twelve donuts to the meeting.)
    4. meal (He eats three meals a day.)
    non-count nouns:
    1. food (They gave a box of food to the shelter.)
    2. milk (This recipe needs two cups of milk.)
    3. air (There isn''t much air in here!)
    4. dirt (Your car has a lot of dirt on it.)
Can you tell which nouns below are count nouns and which are non-count nouns?
    1. computer
    2. gasoline
    3. picture
    4. dog
    5. sugar
    6. rain
    7. pencil

    On the Move
Our bodies need to move. Frequent body movement is essential for flexibility. If we sit too long without moving, our bodies become stiff and immobile, hard to move.

    Word variations: Move
The word "move" has several forms: moved (verb), movement (noun), and moving (present participle). In today''s lesson, we used movement and moving as well as the infinitive form (to plus verb) to move.

    On the Move
"Move it!" "Let''s move!" "Move your body!" Imperative statements or commands tell the listener what to do. Commands do not always end with an exclamation point. "Move the chair here."

    Punctuation: Exclamation Point
Writers use the exclamation point at the end of a command to express excitement or a sense of urgency, or to show that someone is shouting in an angry or a worried voice. What would you shout if your saw a car heading straight towards someone?

Answer: "Move out of the way!"

    Breakfast
    CULTURAL NOTE
In America, as in many other countries, coffee is a popular morning drink. There is a coffee shop on almost every corner, it seems! For many people, stopping in to get a cup of coffee on the way to work in the morning often takes the place of breakfast. Dunkin'' Donuts and Starbucks are two popular shops where people stop to get their morning brew.
