Each month, we will choose a topic to provide you information and tools to manage common issues that you are likely to face in applying for US graduate education.

This April, our topic will be â?oWinning a Fulbright Interviewâ?. Please take a moment to read the below information and send your confirmation before 15 April 2010 to have opportunity to attend our event.

Applying for a Fulbright is as hard as applying for a good job. In both cases, the best way to impress interviewer(s) is to differentiate you from the other candidates who apply for the same position.

Anyone considering applying for a Fulbright scholarship should prepare thoroughly to answer two questions:

1. Why should Fulbright invest in me and my U.S. study, my project and my academic development?
2. How is my project better than the others?

If you have made it through the interview stage, congratulations, you are a finalist who will enter the last phase of the evaluation. The face-to-face interview is an excellent way for the judges to get to know you and, particularly, assess your maturity, composure, performance under pressure, etc.

How to win a Fulbright Interview?

Catch up on current events, local, national and international related to your field of study so that you will give informed opinion if questioned by your interviewers. Many applicants have stressed their ability to perform an ambassadorial role to present what they read/ understand for pleasure.

Engage the interview panel and other experienced Fulbrighters in the mock interview(s) in which you present your future plans, your academic interests, and a sense of the major issues behind these interests. You will get informed feedback. Learn how to make those talking with you and yourself more comfortable and engaged in these challenging interviews.

Participation in the two mock interviews will be arranged by our Mentoring team. Due to limited available seats, contact us early so that we can arrange you an interview or â?ofor a chance of becoming an interviewee.
