Các nghệ sĩ Cuba sẽ không có mặt tại lễ trao giải Grammy
Các quan chức của Cuba lên tiếng phản đối Chính quyền Bush vì đã không cấp visa cho các nghệ sĩ Cuba nhận được đề cử Grammy năm nay đến dự lễ trao giải sẽ diễn ra vào tối 8/2 này tại Mỹ.
Cả 5 nghệ sĩ nhận được đề cử cho Album Latin truyền thống hay nhất đều là người Cuba trong đó có nghệ sĩ Ibrahim Ferrer của CLB Buena Vista Social năm nay đã 77 tuổi và nghệ sĩ piano salsa, Guillermo Rubalcaba, 75 tuổi. Một số nghệ sĩ khác cũng sẽ bỏ lỡ lễ trao giải Grammy năm nay là: nghệ sĩ chơi đàn luýt, Barbarito Torres và nghệ sĩ chơi bộ gõ: Ama***o Valdes. Chỉ có một người duy nhất có được visa sang Mỹ để tham dự lễ trao giải Grammy hàng năm lần thứ 46 lần này là nghệ sĩ piano bậc thầy từng giành 3 giải Grammy Chucho Valdes, người được đề cử cho giải Album Latin jazz hay nhất.
Trước sự phân biệt đối xử vô lý này, Ibrahim Ferrer đã phản ứng dữ dội: "Tôi không phải là kẻ khủng bố. Tôi là một nhạc sĩ và âm nhạc của tôi luôn nhận được sự đón nhận nhiệt tình của khán giả Mỹ". Giám đốc Viện Âm nhạc Cuba, Abel Acosta phát biểu trong một cuộc họp báo: "Làm sao mà các nhạc sĩ lại có thể bị coi là những kẻ khủng bố được? Chúng ta đều biết rằng quyết định này nhằm để thỏa mãn những phần tử lưu vong Cuba tại Miami để làm lợi cho cuộc bầu cử Tổng thống Mỹ sắp tới".
Một nhà ngoại giao Mỹ tại Havana (Cuba) cho rằng quyết định trên được đưa ra do tuyên bố của Tổng thống trước đây là cho phép Chính phủ nghi ngờ bất cứ người nào "đe dọa lợi ích của nước Mỹ". Washington đã cấm vận Cuba suốt 4 thập kỷ qua và đây chỉ là một mục nhỏ trong chính sách đó. Tất cả các hoạt động trao đổi văn hóa giữa các nghệ sĩ hai nước đều bị cấm đoán và cản trở.
