I wrote in Vietnamese but with no accent, hence someone locked my subject out last time. Such a sad business and mental state! I write it in English anyway since I need some kind of help in London here. _________- Well, well, well How about that, no taker so far? It is possible that I did not articulate well in my last message for what I need. Anyway, my plan is to take 5 or 6 Brit engineers/managers in my group to have a good intro to Vietnamese cuisine in London since I have more inclination to lean & green Vietnamese foods than tra***ional greasy Chinese foods. I have been in Great Britain half a dozen times already, but have not found a decent restaurant with Vietnamese-flavor inklings yet. These Brits are quite sophisticated in the arts of Asian culinary, mainly Indian, Japanese, Chinese & Thai (night time, it is a different story for these blokes/gals, their animal instincts would care more for their micro-brew beers than the fish-and-chip partakes that they have, but they have tons of brogue fun), but none has been exposed Vietnamese eatery, hence any tip for a controlled adventure to Vietnamese epicurean corner in London is much appreciated. A boutique restaurant with good Vietnamese motifs would be nice. A combination of form and substance would be fantastic! Cheers, P/S BTW I will stay in the Canary Wharf area, so my preference for a restaurant nearby, if not we will hail & pile into a yellow checker.
there''s a small restaurant called Hoa Viet, 42 Camberwell Church St SE5 8QZ. Not a very nice one but their "banh cuon" is the best I could find in London Take any bus to Camberwell Green from Elephant & Castle station, then walk about 5 mins (follow 176-bus direction), you will find it on your right
Hungmn, thank you very much for your info on Hoa Viet Restaurant and the info on ?~banh cuon?T. I may try to stop by myself to check it out. After some research on the net, I found the following Vietnamese restaurants in London with the priority that I feel comfortable to take my Brit friends there. I think the top one is Saigon Saigon restaurant. It has a good list with variety that I can select to make a good dinner course. This restaurant and Viet Grill received good reviews (from non-Vietnamese speakers mainly). I probably will scout out the restaurant first, before I take my group there. How authentic they are, I don?Tt know, but I will find out.
