Ha Noi or Hanoi, Sai Gon or Saigon?

Hi guys,

I wonder if any one of you know which is the correct way to write in English the proper name of a place in Vietnam.

For example: Hà Nội, somebody writes "Ha Noi", somebody writes "Hanoi". Which is the correct way?

Please help to clarify. Thanks.

Vietnam , Hanoi , Saigon etc ....
I noticed in the media certain name of country or city such as ... Việt Nam , Sài Gòn , Hà Nội are spelled differently from their native form . I guess it up to the country ''''s interpretation when they first heard of the way its pronounce .
eg ; Hanoi is written " Ha Noi " in vietnamese but in the United states is spelled as one word .

Hà Nội is one word (Hanoi) in English and so is Việt Nam. But then, those foreign idiots are just plain wrong. Correct them and most will accept it.

I aggree, it is indeed "Vietnam" and "Hanoi", "Saigon", but there are CERTAIN exceptions, which are "Da Nang" (Spelled seperated in Microsoft word Encatar Reference = most widely used Encyclopedia), Nha Trang, etc..It seems to me that only the well known places have English equivalent for them, otherwise, smaller and unknown places are left to their native forms.
