Hic, I suddenly recognize this ghastly fact when I reading some msgs posted by some of u (ho*, sometimes I cant make head or tail of what u r writing I dont mean u r not good at english, it''s me that dont understand the words (i am not sure i hav seen them or not ).

1 years ago, my english is not too bad, but day by day, I dunno where it''s gone. I think the 1st reason is my laziness, I havnt kept practising a lot to improve it. But I am not really interested in English any more. I hate, hate, hate,......., hate it. Hic, so sad but true that I cant live without it . I hav to learn and use Eng lish at school even at home when my sis wanna watch films in HBO or Cinemax channel. And my mom, she always talks about the importance of english now and she wants me to be able to master it (hic, mom, i am sorry). Another reason is that I feel I cant put any english in my mind. That''s true, I begin forgetting new words easily. There r some words appearing frequently but I cant remember their meanings. Hic How can I do now, guys
I dunno know what my kinda E now.

The key, "bi quyet"that is to master English is to not make it an obligation..Learn ONLY the things/words you like. Do NOT-force- yourself to learn it.
I think your English is just fine..=) Keep up the good work and do not lose hope.
    -Good luck!
    With regards,
    Sil.

Well, embemuathu, I don''t think your English is ?obananâ? at all. You''re just imagining that "ghastly fact"! You know what, people having a certain purpose are likely to do things much more effectively than those who have no idea what they''re trying to do and what they do it for. Thus, a specially crucial thing you should do right now is to have a definite aim if you wanna gain your interest in English.
Anyway, just like Sil and uncle CRX, your English is pretty good I think. How could it be ?obananâ? when you?Tre living in such a good English environment???!!!
So close no matter how far... I have you in my heart and nothing else matters... :x

    Hi you guys,
Right now I really need your help, that''s my English learning. I dont know whether my English is being improved or going bad. In a nice day, my reaction in speaking seems to be proper. But sometimes I feel under the weather and, speaking English in the ocassions is nearly like being in prison. I know that to master the language, i must study as much as possible and put every useful details into my mind. But in some papers the articles is full of new words, full of idioms and I hardly catch the contents clearly.
What should I do now, my friends?

Always in the state of being a silly chicken. I love the way you are, my friends.

Hi, I must admit that I''''''''m not that much better than you''''''''re, although living in the country, facing the TV and media, plus having to speak the language everyday.
As someone above had said, learn the word and phrases as needed and do not try to stuff yourself with new expressions, vocabularies that you come across. The last think that you would want to do is to determine what might be needed or become handy when it is required.
Read / Study / Speaking etc .. as a matter of pleasure and fun is the best approach to any language, or in fact to anything that you''''''''re studying. That''''''''s why, for some people, though study hard, could not get high marks in the exam but the reverse is true. Many appeared lazy and careless whilst studying and yet managed to get really high marks. The reason is very simple. Your brain can make connections (associations) easily when it is excited, and retrieval of information requires that these connections exist and that they are searchable. A happy / or moody song is so easily to remember (ie. catchy melody) and someone could just remember the lyric once listened to it. (having a bit childish like mind sometimes help).
The main thing is to talk and to listen to others. Personally I find that If I cannot talk, and deliver the same sentence with my own efforts, I cannot remember - and that''''''''s why sometimes it helps to remember things if you write down the same sentence using your own words, ie. variations which reflect more or less the same meaning of the original.
Finding relationship between the new thing with what you''''''''ve learned is the best way to remember. An example, when I learned the word "Phonetic" (như tiếng Việt là sự phát âm của chữ Trung Quốc mà ra - "Chuẩn pầy" (Tiếng Quảng Đông) = "Chuẩn bị" (Tiếng Việt)), thì cái đầu tiên tôi thấy là chữ "Phone" (điện thoại) .. nghĩa là liên quan đến việc "nói", việc phát ra âm thanh, hoặc việc "phát âm". Another word is the word "Headphone", "cái tai nghe", which relates to the listening action, so there you''''''''ve got 2 connections:
Phonetic = Telephone = Headphone (nói và nghe) hay có nghĩa là "Phát âm"
Now you could make a sentence out of it, ie.
"Many Vietnamese words have been formed using the straightforward phonetic transliteration of Chinese"
I know for the fact the I''''m not good at English at all but the above is just a little experience I''''ve got duing the time picking up the language to enable me to pass by. I hope that you''''ll find it useful somehow.

Oh my god, guys, I need ur help again. I cant believe that my speaking skill is extremely horrible til this afternoon when I talked to a foreigner from US. I seeall his points but I found it difficult to express what I wanna say When speaking, I try my best to think in English not Vnese, but it does not make mine better. At first, I see that my pronounciation is not always correct, so I do practise a lot to make it better. However, when speaking , I still feel confused , and I nearly forget all I''ve learned . What''s more, since I study French and use French quite a lot, I cant help starting with some French words be4 speaking in English (my English is much better than French). Hic, what should I do now ?, guys. Tell me your experience or something like that. If there''s no "remedy" for this, I will not be self -confident. And u see, I never want that :( plz

I think the problem lies within yourself. You are too self-conscious when you are speaking to a foreigner. If you can imagine that the foreigner is just another friend of yours, or you can create some funny thoughts in your head, you won''t have the same problem. For example, you can notice something funny about his hair, his cloth, etc... That was a little trick that my professor have taught me in speech 101. It works well for me whenever I have to speak to an audience.

    Imisim,
Thank for your advice, but it seems arduous for me to apply it usually cuz people I meet do not want to be asked something as you recommend . They are much older than me and in some way, they are not easy-going (not only to me but all others). They wanna concentrate on work. That''s all. Hic, I find it hard to make some kiddings with them cuz I am sure they do not like that much. They are extremely serious and strict (maybe)
