    F-16 Fighting Falcons from Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, stand ready for their first exercise mission against Romanian air force MiG 21 Lancers at Exercise Viper Lance 2006 at Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base, Romania, on Aug. 9. This is the first time F-16 crews have trained in Romania.

    F-16 Fighting Falcons from the 64th Aggressor Squadron at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., line the flightline at Eielson AFB, Alaska, on Tuesday, April 18, 2006, for Red Flag - Alaska. The exercise, formerly known as Cope Thunder, provides joint offensive counter-air, interdiction, close-air support and large-force employment training in a simulated combat environment. Red Flag - Alaska runs through May 5.

    MORON AIR BASE, Spain -- An F-16 Fighting Falcon is serviced on the flightline here after "Coronet East" lands. The Air Force reservists from the 180th Fighter Wing at Toledo, Ohio, are on their way home after supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. Coronet East is a title given to a group of jet fighters flying with necessary tankers for air refueling and an air transport with necessary maintenance support in tow.

    EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Airman 1st Class George Zawalonka inspects an F-16 Fighting Falcon during preflight operations supporting Exercise Cope Thunder 05-1 here April 25. Cope Thunder is a joint/combined air training exercise with the purpose of providing pilots with a real combat training environment. Airman Zawalonka is a crew chief with the 35th Fighter Wing at Misawa Air Base, Japan.

    NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- A pair of F-16 Fighting Falcons, assigned to the 27th Fighter Wing at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M., head out for a Joint Red Flag mission over the Nevada Test and Training Range near here March 29. The exercise is designed to enhance operational and tactical effectiveness through joint integrated training. This is the first Joint Red Flag involving multinational forces, with more than 10,000 U.S. and foreign coalition forces participating in the training exercise, which runs through April 2.
