USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) cruises along in the Western Pacific Ocean with other ships form the Abraham Lincoln Strike Group. The Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group will be exercising with strike groups from USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) and USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) during Valiant Shield 2006, a major military exercise off the coast of Guam involving 28 naval vessels including three carrier strike groups. Approximately 290 aircraft and more than 20,000 service members from the Navy, Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, and U.S. Coast Guard are taking part in the exercise.

Civilian and military dignitaries from Australia and the Peoplê?Ts Republic of China observe Exercise Valiant Shield 2006 aboard USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). Exercise Valiant Shield 2006 is the largest Pacific joint exercise in recent history. Held off the coast of Guam, it involves 28 naval vessels including three carrier strike groups. More than 300 aircraft and approximately 20,000 service members from the Navy, Army, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard are also participating in the exercise.

USS KITTY HAWK (CV 63), At Sea (Jun. 15, 2006) - Aviation Ordnancemen load 20mm ammunition rounds into an F/A-18F Super Hornet and an F/A-18C Hornet on the flight deck of USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). Kitty Hawk typically conducts flight operations over a 12-hour period each day, including both day and night missions. Currently under way in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility, Kitty Hawk demonstrates power projection and sea control as the U.S. Navy''s only permanently, forward-deployed aircraft carrier, operating from Yokosuka, Japan.
