ALBANY, N.Y. -- A C-5 Galaxy sits on the flightline before cargo is loaded Sept. 5 by Airmen with the 109th Aerial Port Squadron at the Albany International Airport. The cargo was bound for Gulfport, Miss., in support of Hurricane Katrina relief operations. The Galaxy belongs to the New York Air National Guard''s 105th Airlift Wing that has flown 12 missions delivering about 1.5 million pounds of cargo and 400 passengers in support of the relief effort.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- A scamp crane sits inside a C-5 Galaxy before a Humvee is loaded Sept. 5 by Airmen with the 109th Aerial Port Squadron at the Albany International Airport. DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. --The first of three Navy CH-53E Super Stallion helicopters departing the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center for Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., reaches the half-way point during loading into an Air Force C-5 Galaxy.

SAN DIEGO -- A C-5 Galaxy assigned to Travis Air Force Base, Calif., is loaded with people and equipment from the Deep Submergence Unit, Naval Base Coronado. The C-5 is bringing two Super Scorpio robotic rescue vehicles to Russia to assist in the rescue of seven Russian sailors trapped in a minisubmarine off the Kamchatka peninsula.

ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. (AFPN) -- Crews from the 97th Air Mobility Wing here and the 60th AMW at Travis Air Force Base, Calif., load a semitrailer carrying humanitarian cargo into a C-5 Galaxy for delivery to a forward-deployed location supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. With clearance coming as close as 4 inches at one point, the trailer took about five hours to load using a Minuteman Missile ramp. The C-5 is assigned to the 60th AMW.

1990''s -- Several KC-135R Stratotanker aircraft sit parked along the flight line during Operation Desert Shield.

OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM -- Aircraft of the 379th Air Expe***ionary Wing and coalition counterparts stationed together in a deployed location in southwest Asia fly over the desert., April 14, 2003. Aircraft include KC-135 Stratotanker, F-15E Strike Eagle, F-117 Nighthawk, F-16CJ, British GR-4 Tornado, and Australian F/A-18 Hornet.

OVER SOUTHWEST ASIA -- A KC-135 Stratotanker leads a formation of an F-15 Strike Eagle, two F-16 Fighting Falcons and two British GR4 Tornados on Dec. 29. The aircraft and crews are supporting operations here.
