E***ors of newspapers, wire, or online news outlets have until June 1 to apply for the opportunity to spend five weeks in the U.S. working in a professional newsroom.
Administered by the International Center for Journalists in partnership with the American Society of Newspaper E***ors, the ?oInternational Journalism Exchangê? program (IJE) is open to e***ors who have worked in journalism for at least five years, are proficient in English, but have little substantial previous travel to or training in the U.S.
The five-week program will begin October 10 with an orientation in Washington, D.C., followed by a newspaper assignment that offers exposure to all the departments of a U.S. newsroom. The program concludes with a two-day session in New York City that consists of professional group activities, including visit to The New York Times and final evaluation of the program.

The Reuters Foundation is offering a course on international news writing for journalists from the developing world in London from August 11 to 22. Last day to apply: June 27.
The course will focus on the writing of international news, as practiced by Reuters and other global news organizations. Through practice exercises, emphasis will be placed on improving basic reporting skills including accuracy, impartiality, speed, clarity and structure.
Scholarships are available for journalists from the developing world with limited recourses. Partial scholarships are also offered to journalists who can afford to pay for their costs through their organizations. Regular tuition fees are UKÊ2000 (US$3,905) for travel and accommodations for 10 days.
Those interested should have fluency in English and have worked for print or other media organizations for at least two years. Interested persons must submit a 250-word essay outlining their career, two recent examples of their work in English, and a statement of 250-500 words describing why this workshop would benefit them.

Panos South Asia announces media fellowships on Conflict-reporting in Northeast India
Panos South Asia invites print, radio and television journalists to apply for a fellowship to research conflict-related issues in Northeast India.The Fellowship will run from July 2008- June 2009. Selected Fellows will be provided e***orial support by an advisory panel comprising of senior journalists and peace and conflict experts. They will also be provided financial support for travel and research. Last date for receiving applications is June 5th,2008.

Based on their investigative work, selected Fellows must produce:
f~ At least five 1000-word feature stories to be published in quality publications between July 2008 and June 2009/ At least five short features for radio/ TV broadcast within the same time frame.
f~ One 5000-word in-depth report, which may be e***ed and included in a book to be published later by Panos. The radio and TV journalists may submit a written script for inclusion.
Applicants must submit the following no later than June 5, 2008:
? Curriculum vitae
? Up to five samples of published/ broadcast work on the issue
? A draft proposal for the fellowship
? A brief personal statement on why they consider themselves as suitable candidates (not exceeding 500 words in English)
? Two references from persons who have known the applicant professionally for at least one year.
Women, journalists writing in local languages and persons from under-represented areas are encouraged to apply. However, their CV and the write-up should be in English and at least one sample of their work must be translated into English.

Yêu cầu đối với ứng viên:
Ứng viên sẽ được tuyển chọn dựa trên khả năng sáng tạo ra những câu chuyện hấp dẫn, thu hút, giúp kích thích tư duy/khả năng suy nghĩ hoặc thông qua những bức ảnh để miêu tả cuộc sống và sinh kế của cộng đồng bị ảnh hưởng vì cúm gia cầm, đồng thời chuyển tải ý nghĩa/thông điệp về tác động của cúm gia cầm đến khán thính giả trên diện rộng.
Ứng viên phải những người hoạt động trong lĩnh vực truyền thông như xuất bản, phát thanh, video/truyền hình, nhiếp ảnh, truyền thông trực tuyến/kỹ thuật số, đang sinh sống ở Việt Nam và làm việc toàn thời gian cho cơ quan cấp địa phương, quốc gia hoặc quốc tế (hoặc là tư
vấn tự do cho một cơ quan trong lĩnh vực xuất bản).
Ứng viên phải thuần thục hai ngôn ngữ (tác phẩm cuối cùng sẽ được sản xuất/phát hành bằng tiếng địa phương khi xuất bản ở Việt Nam và bằng tiếng Anh khi phát hành ở nước ngoài).
Dự án khuyến khích sự tham gia của cá nhân có kinh nghiệm về y tế, nông nghiệp và/hoặc các vấn đề phát triển.
Dự kiến, ứng viên được chọn sẽ quảng bá/phổ biến rộng rãi tác phẩm dự thi như bài báo, phim tài liệu, phim v.v thông qua các cơ quan truyền thông của họ.

Seminar to help journalists report responsibly on trauma, violence
A four-day seminar being held in Chicago, Illinois from November 11 to 15 will teach journalists how to report responsibly on violence and other traumatic events. The deadline to apply is July 30.
The Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma will provide six or more fellowships for the seminar. Journalists must be mid-career print or broadcast journalists. All expenses are paid.

Mid-career arts and entertainment e***ors, producers and writers can apply to be part of a three week arts journalism fellowship in Los Angeles, California from November 1 to 22. The application deadline is June 16.
Reporters from print, radio, television, and online who cover beats on performing and visual arts, architecture, literature and pop culture are eligible to apply for the 7th annual Arts Journalism Fellowship, hosted by the University of Southern Californiâ?Ts Annenberg School for Communication and the Getty Foundation. Staffers, freelancers and self-employed journalists also may qualify.
Chosen journalists will receive opportunities to meet with artists who produce and cover policies on arts and urban culture. The program will cover roundtrip costs to Los Angeles, hotels, meals, materials, Internet access and transportation.
