The Department of Computer Science at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal, is offering the European Masters Program in Computational Logic as part of its Bologna 2nd cycle offer. It is an international distributed Master of Science course (MSc.), in cooperation with the computer science departments in the following universities:

* Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal
* Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy
* Technische Universitaet Dresden, Germany
* Technische Universitaet Wien, Austria
* Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, Spain

This program, entirely in English, involves studying one year at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and completing the second year with a stay in one of the partner universities. After this, the student will obtain, together with the European degree, two Master of Science degrees: the Mestrado em Lógica Computacional degree from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, with legal value in Portugal, and the respective Master of Science degree from the visited university, with legal value in its country.

APPLICATION DEADLINES:

- *** 10 FEBRUARY 2009* ** : first deadline for all European and non-European students, and final deadline for non-European students requesting an Erasmus Mundus scholarship (notification of acceptance: 10 March 2009)

- 31 May 2009: deadline for all European and non-European students
(notification of acceptance: 15 June 2009)

- 01 September 2009: last deadline only for European students starting at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal
(notification of acceptance: 5 September 2008)

SCHOLARSHIPS & MONEY SUPPORT:

In 2009 the European Union will offer several new Erasmus Mundus scholarships for non-European citizens (in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 more than 90 Erasmus Mundus scholarships were given). Each scholarship for each student amounts to 21,000 EUR per academic year; this includes 10 monthly grants of 1,600 EUR and a fixed amount of 5,000 EUR for fees, travel expenses, relocation costs, etc. The 10th of February 2009 is the final deadline for requesting an Erasmus Mundus scholarship for non-European students.

Several scholarships are available for students not holding an Erasmus Mundus scholarship, to waive the tuition fee of 3.000 , for students without a scholarship, on the basis of their academic merit.

Every year 10 EMCL students with European citizenship can visit Australia (Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane) up to 3 months to work on a research project, sponsored by the European Master. The study period in Australia is part of the study programme and it is fully recognised by the European Master''s Program in Computational Logic. The guaranteed scholarship is of 3,100 , and it covers the travel and living expenses in Australia.

THE STUDY PROGRAMME:

The European Masters Program in Computational Logic is designed to meet the demands of industry and research in this rapidly growing area. Based on a solid foundation in mathematical logic, theoretical computer science, artificial intelligence and declarative programming students will acquire in-depth knowledge necessary to specify, implement and run complex systems as well as to prove properties of these systems. In particular, the focus of instruction will be in deduction systems, knowledge representation and reasoning, artificial intelligence, formal specification and verification, syntax directed semantics, logic and automata theory, logic and computability. This basic knowledge is then applied to areas like logic and natural language processing, logic and the semantic web, bioinformatics, information systems and database technology, software and hardware verification. Students will acquire practical experience and will become familiar in the use of tools within these applications. In ad***ion, students will be prepared for a future PhD, they will come in contact with the international research community and will be integrated into ongoing research projects. They will develop competence in foreign languages and international relationships, thereby improving their social skills.

Applicants should have a Bachelor degree (Bologna 1st cycle or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Logic, or other relevant disciplines; special cases will be considered. The programme is part of the Master in Computational Logic (Mestrado em Lógica Computacional) and it has various strengths that make it unique amongst Portuguese and European universities:

* Curriculum taught entirely in English: The programme is open to the
world and prepares the students to move on the international scene.
* Possibility of a strongly research-oriented curriculum.
* Possibility for project-based routes to obtain the degree and
extensive lab facilities.
* International student community.
* Direct interaction with the local and international industry and
research centres, with the possibility of practical and research
internships that can lead to future employment.

The European Masters Program in Computational Logic is one of the few European Masters awarded by the European Union''s Erasmus Mundus programme from its first year of existence in 2004. The Erasmus Mundus programme is a co-operation and mobility programme in the field of higher education which promotes the European Union as a centre of excellence in learning around the world. It supports European top-quality Masters Courses and enhances the visibility and attractiveness of European higher education in third-countries. It also provides EU-funded scholarships for third-country nationals participating in these Masters Courses, as well as scholarships for EU-nationals studying in third-countries.

The European Masters Program in Computational Logic is sponsored scientifically by the European Network of Excellence on Computational Logic (CoLogNET), the European Association of Logic, Language and Information (FoLLI), the European Coordinating Committee for Artificial Intelligence (ECCAI), the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence (AI*IA), the Italian Association for Informatics (AICA, member of the Council of European Professional Informatics Societies), the Italian Association for Logic and its Applications (AILA), and the Portuguese Association for Artificial Intelligence (APPIA).

The European Master''s Program in Computational Logic
We are glad to offers you the possibility to join our European Master Program of Computational Logic. This program is offered jointly at the Free-University of Bozen-Bolzano in Italy, the Technische UniversitÔt Dresden in Germany, the Universidade Nova de Lisboa in Portugal, the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid in Spain and the Technische UniversitÔt Wien in Austria. Within this program you have the choice to study at two of the five European universities. You will graduate with a MSc in Computer Science from each of the two universities you have selected. We would like to draw your attention to the ERASMUS-MUNDUS scholarship program. Cho mình hỏi là nếu đã có bằng Master rồi ( IT) thì apply thêm 1 bằng IT nữa được không?
Nếu được thì hồ sơ mình gửi có cần gửi bằng và bảng điểm của cái bằng Master cũ hay không? Hồ sơ ĐH thì thế nào? Nó xét dựa trên bảng điểm nào vậy

Tớ nghĩ là không sao cả . Tớ biết một bạn có Master ở US rồi mà vẫn được học bổng EM. Không sao cả. Còn mình nghĩ bạn cứ gửi bảng điểm đại học và kèm theo bằng Master nữa là được . Sao không apply luôn PhD nhỉ . Năm tới có rồi mà

Thế à, tớ mới đọc qua chưa biết là năm tới có PhD , tại đầu topic thấy bảo chỉ dành cho Master thôi ( với lại học PhD mệt lắm , học Master đỡ hơn, còn dành thời gian để đi du lịch chứ )

Học master với Phd thì khác quái gì nhau nhỉ. Học Phd vớ vẩn còn nhàn hơn. Học master theo EM như là học đại học 2 năm cuối vậy. Mệt hơn làm Phd là cái chắc.

Không vấn đề gì, course của tớ có 1 đứa có 1st Master y chang EM luôn, từ tên cho đến course structure. Càng có nhiều bằng cấp thì cơ hội của bạn càng cao.

Rồi, thấy le lói cơ hội đi Châu Âu rồi
Đùa chút, học bổng toàn phần có bao giờ không đổ mồ hôi mà có đâu nhỉ? Tuy nhiên thấy bảo có 1 bằng Master rồi vẫn có thể apply ( mà lại còn là lợi thế ) nghe sướng quá
Thêm 1 vấn đề nữa xin được chỉ giáo ạ. Tớ năm nay 29 rồi, sang năm học xong ở Nhật thì cũng đã là 30. Về VN ổn định gia đình + nghỉ ngơi ít nhất là 1 năm ( tranh thủ cày cuốc lại English bị rơi rụng khi ở Nhật + học GRE, GMAT theo yêu cầu của EM), vậy là 31 tuổi mới bắt đầu apply được.
Xin hỏi là ở tuổi đó thì EM còn nhận không? Và tuổi cao có ảnh hưởng gì đến việc xét hồ sơ không? ( Tớ hỏi thế vì hầu hết các học bổng đều giới hạn độ tuổi, tư phí thì vô tư )

Cũng đang có cùng suy nghĩ vơi ah MapGis, em cung đang theo chương trình giống anh, và cũng có ý định thế, nhưng cũng đang cân nhắc cách để lách cái yêu cẩu của chương trình anh ah (Phai lam viec cho cty Nhat ay ah). Có gì anh em mình trao doi them nhé.
