    PhD and Research Masters Scholarships​
    Carbon Capture and Storage​
    School of Chemical Engineering, UNSW
    Cooperative Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Technologies (CO2CRC)​
    The School of Chemical Engineering and School of Petroleum Engineering at the University
    of New South Wales has a significant research group headed by Prof. Dianne Wiley
    investigating the economics of capturing CO​
    2 from industrial sources and injecting it into
    underground reservoirs in Australia. This research is part of the work of the Cooperative
    Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Technologies ("CO2CRC"), which is a joint industry /
    Australian Government sponsored programme that brings together the work of research
    institutions, Government agencies and private companies in Australia and overseas.
    The project team is seeking PhD or Masters by Research candidates to join our research
    team. Your role will be to:

    • ​
    Develop methods and frameworks for assessing the capture of CO2 from different largescale
    stationary emission sources using different capture technologies.

    • ​
    Identify options for optimising the CCS (carbon capture and storage) network chain.

    • ​
    Contribute to the communication of research outcomes through papers, seminars and
    conference presentations.

    • ​
    Collaborate with colleagues in organisations linked to the CO2CRC.
    A stipend of $27,222 per annum (tax free) will be provided for three years. Australian
    citizens, Australian permanent residents and foreign nationals may apply for this scholarship.

    The Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Research Group at School of Software, Dalian University of Technology (DUT) conducts interdisciplinary, application-driven academic research in the broad area of cyber-physical and social computing. Our research focus is on enabling technologies, including networking protocols, computing algorithms, and software platforms, for building systems that bridge the Cyber, Physical, and Social Worlds. The target application areas of our research cover e.g. healthcare, energy, consumer electronics, transportation, automation, and education.

    We are opening 2-3 PhD student positions in related fields, including e.g. CPS, wireless networking, mobile computing, ubiquitous/pervasive computing, internet of things, vehicular networking, and swarm intelligence.

    All positions will be coupled to full Government scholarships. Basic living allowance will be 2,000 RMB/month, plus Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit. The scholarships are exempt from registration fee, tuition, and fee for basic learning materials. Accommodation on campus will be provided for free. The University will offer excellent working con***ions.

    Qualifications

    Every year UNU-IAS and UNU-ISP offer PhD and Postdoctoral Fellowships to provide young scholars and policy-makers, especially from the developing world, with a multi-disciplinarily context within which to pursue advanced research and training that are of professional interest to the successful applicant and of direct relevance to the research agenda of their selected UNU-IAS or UNU-ISP programme.

    The Fellowship Programme provides the successful applicant with a unique opportunity to:

    • [*]develop and advance their research under the supervision of a UNU-IAS or UNU-ISP faculty member and contribute to the overall research agenda of the Institute;
      [*]widen their research interests and professional networks by working in the international and multi-disciplinary context of the UNU-IAS and UNU-ISP, and with its wider network of Japanese universities and research institutes, as well as international collaborators;
      [*]become exposed to the workings of the international and multilateral policy process and the broader UN system; and
      [*]link with other UNU-IAS and UNU-ISP PhD and Postdoctoral Fellows.
    The Fellows are resident at UNU-IAS in Yokohama, UNU-IAS OUIK in Kanazawa, or UNU-ISP in Tokyo, Japan for the full term of the fellowship. This gives the PhD and Postdoctoral Fellows the opportunity to gain from the broader research programme of lectures, seminars, workshops and conferences arranged by UNU-IAS and UNU-ISP. UNU's close institutional links with Japanese affiliated professors and researchers from key universities and think tanks in Japan and around the world also allow Fellows to link into the broader Japanese academic and research community. Since the start of the Fellowship Programme at UNU-IAS in 1996, more than 200 young scholars, 70% of whom are from the developing world, have benefited from collaboration with UNU-IAS/UNU-ISP and Japanese scholars in this way.     The Saarbrücken Graduate School of Computer Science provides an optimal environment for pursuing doctoral studies in computer science at an internationally competitive level.     What is the working language?
    All courses, exams, etc. are in English.
    How does it work?
    After your successful application, you first undergo (depending on your degree) a three semester preparatory phase which consists of research oriented, broad course work adjusted to personal interests. We provide common office space particularly to students in this phase. You have ample opportunity to acquaint yourself with the many computer science research groups in Saarbrücken and to choose a group and an advisor matching your interest.
    After passing a qualifying exam, you enter the research and dissertation phase which you spend as a member of a research group. During the entire program there is a comprehensive offering of so-called Soft Skills seminars and courses.
    In justified cases, you can be exempted from parts of or even the entire preparatory phase. Also, your courses taken in the preparatory phase can be used towards a Master's degree, if this is desired.

    Special Research Fund - Doctoral Scholarships for Candidates from Developing Countries

    With support from its “Special Research Fund” (BOF), Ghent University wishes *****pport university research groups or research centres in developing countries in their aim to grow into excellent research centres by upgrading local academic personnel. Therefore Ghent University grants PhD scholarships to promising PhD students from developing countries who wish to carry out half of their PhD research at Ghent University and half in a university in a developing country.
    No restrictions are imposed on the field of research, nevertheless preference will be given to topics that are relevant for development. Relevance for development measures the degree in which the action of development corresponds with the expectations of the beneficiaries, the needs of the country, global priorities and the policies of partners and donors.
    There are two types of scholarships: regular PhD grants (2 years) (type 1) and grants with a maximum duration of 1 year for students finalizing their PhD research at Ghent University (type 2).

    Basic application requirements for Master Programs in Science and Engineering:
    A four-year Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or science from a recognized institution with a major in the proposed field or evidence of suitable background for entering the proposed field.
    A Grade-Point Average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher on a scale of 4.00 or equivalent, and a GPA of 3.00 in the subject of the major field.
    Basic application requirements for Ph.D. Programs:
    An M.S. degree in engineering or science (after a four-year B.S. degree) from an institution whose graduate programs are equivalent to those of KFUPM, with a major in the proposed field or evidence of suitable background for entering the proposed field.
    A minimum GPA of 3.00 on a scale of 4.00 or equivalent in both B.S. and M.S. degrees.
    Basic application requirements for M.B.A. and Executive M.B.A.:
    A four-year Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution.
    A Grade-Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.00 on a scale of 4.00 or equivalent.
    At least one course in college level calculus which covers both differentiation and integration.
    A working knowledge of computers as evidenced by at least one course in that area (e.g. data processing, programming, information systems, etc.)
    At least one-year of full-time work experience. This requirement may be waived for graduate assistants, research assistants, and applicants with exceptional academic records.
