Research Programmes Accepting Applications in 2010

An essential part of the application for both the PhD and Postdoctoral fellowships is a research proposal outlining the intended work. The research during the fellowship should be of professional interest to the applicant and of direct relevance to the research agenda of their selected UNU-IAS or UNU-ISP programme. Applicants are therefore highly encouraged to familiarise themselves with UNU-IAS and UNU-ISP research areas. Research proposals should clearly relate to one of the current Research Programmes at UNU-IAS and UNU-ISP.

Overview
The University of Brunei Darussalam is once again offering its Doctoral Scholarships Programme. The scholarships are on offer to enhance the universities ability to attract academically outstanding international PhD scholars, as part of its efforts to make the university a regional and international centre for excellence in research and higher education.
The UBD Doctoral Scholarships Programme is designed to attract world-class doctoral students who are able to show a very high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the natural sciences, health sciences, social sciences, business and economics, Malay/Brunei studies, language skills and communication, and education, by offering students financial assistance during their doctoral studies.
The UBD Doctoral Scholarships Programme is part of UBDâ?Ts ongoing international recruitment strategy and aims to position UBD as a regional and international leader in leading-edge higher education research.
Eligible Candidates
The UBD Doctoral Scholarships Programme is open to all international candidates, regardless
of nationality, applying for admission to a full time PhD programme at Universiti Brunei Darussalarn (UBD) in 2010.
Value of this scholarship
Each scholarship covers tuition fees (and bench fees where applicable), one outward and
return economy travel fare to Brunei Darussalam, research expenses up to a maximum of
Brunei Dollars $8,000, a yearly book allowance of Brunei Dollars $300, on-campus
accommodation in the universityâ?Ts Residential Halls, plus a monthly personal allowance of
Brunei Dollars $500.
