McNamara Fellowships Program Application 2008-2009 The Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program provides support to young researchers working in academic and research institutions from developing countries, and preparing a doctoral thesis in a subject related to development. Research grants cover residence costs in a university or research center in a member country of the World Bank other than the home country or country of residence of the candidate. Fellowships are awarded for a period of five to ten months and must be completed between July 2008 and June 2009. The maximum amount of the grant is US$25,000.
Eligibility Criteria Applicants must meet the following general criteria to be eligible for a fellowship award: Be a national and resident of a World Bank member country which is currently eligible to borrow; Candidates should be under 45 years. Candidates born before January 1, 1964 will not be considered; Must have completed and been awarded at least a Master''s degree, or equivalent, at the time of application; Be regularly registered in a development related doctoral program in their home or another country; Must have completed all coursework and exam requirements for their doctoral program; Be employed as full time lecturer or researcher by an academic or research institution in their home country; Be accepted as a visiting scholar by a renowned university for a period of five to ten months. [/quote] Cái này là fellowship chứ không phải là học bổng đi học- nó là non-degree: Phải có ít nhất 5 năm kinh nghiệm và khi nhận được cái này thì không có nhận bất cứ bằng cấp nào cả (bằng cấp không quan trọng lắm, mà quan trọng là ngành xin đi có phù hợp với mục tiêu của chương trình hay không- gần gần với Fulbright ở chỗ khả năng đóng góp cho Việt Nam). Mục tiêu là nhằm giúp đỡ người đang làm việc có điều kiện tiếp cận sâu hơn lĩnh vực mình làm việc qua việc tham gia các khóa học+ trao đổi tại các trường ĐH tại Mỹ (không cố định, và sẽ di chuyển thường xuyên- dạng đi học hỏi kinh nghiệm).
