    Dear friends,
    First off, thanks a lot for the great service you''ve given so far on this forum!
    Next, may I ask just one question concerning the type of graduate programs available in the USA? I''ve enrolled for an M.A program that, to my bewilderment, lasts for just 9-10 months, much shorter than is the normal graduate courses on offer at most of the graduate colleges in the USA. When discussing the length of the program with some of my friends recently, I initially found out that in weighing the possibility of applying for a Ph.d admission in the near future after finishing this master''s degree, the short program doesn''t carry the same weight as do other longer M.A programs, such as 2-year ones or the like, or even isn''t considered a full master''s program, thus adversely affecting the chance of being accepted as a Ph.d student. I''m constantly wondering whether this is the case or not. So I''d be grateful if anyone studying in the states could give an adequate answer.
    Thanks a lot.

    I now continue discussing green card categories applicable in the US as follows:
    (1) Fiance-based visa;
    (2) Marrige-based visa;
    I will not discuss the two above since almost everyone is fully aware of these categories.
    (3) Family-based visa;
    (4) Employment-based visa; and
    (5) Lottery-based visa.
    All of those visas above are a under permanent category. Now I go on discussing further on the employement-based visa which is relevant to the question above. There are five sub categories under Employment-based visa as follows:
    (3)(a) First Preference (E1 visa);
    (3)(b) Second Preference (E2);
    (3)(c) Third Preference (E3);
    (3)(d) Fourth Preference (E4); and
    (3)(e) Fifth Preference (E5).
    E5 is relevant to the last part of the question above. If an alien can invest into the US an amount from 500,000 to one million USD which shall in turn create full time employments to at least 10 US citizens, permanent residents or lawful immigrants (excluding himself or herself and family members) then such alien is eligible to apply for a green card to reside permanently in the US.
    Please let me know if you wish me to discuss further any of the above-mentioned.
    Regards,
    Analyst

    Thank you very much, Analyst!
    It seems to me that all E-type visas mentioned above are in Treaty traders & Treaty investors sub category under Employment visa category.
    I have an other question, that is: is Vietnam considered as a treaty country to US?
    BR, THD
