Tôi xin có một vài góp ý đối với việc viết CV như sau. Xin dựa vào CV 5 để nói cho tiện. CV nên gồm có những phần chính sau đây: Biographic Information: tên, ngày sinh, nơi sinh, địa chỉ, email và số điện thoại. Education: liệt kê theo thứ tự gần đây nhất thì đứng trước và theo mẫu sau: Năm: Tên bằng (để đậm) và tên chuyên ngành. Trường cấp bằng. Đồ án tốt nghiệp: Tên đồ án. Thầy hướng dẫn: Tên thầy. Appointments (hoặc working experiences): Phần này ghi những vị trí công việc thực sự mà mình đã từng làm. Mẫu như sau: Từ ngày - đến ngày: Vị trí công việc. Cơ quan làm việc. Awards and honours: (không nên để là awards and scholarships). Khi liệt kê học bổng nên nói rõ học bổng cấp theo tiêu chuẩn nào. Publication: liệt kê các bài báo theo thứ tự gần đây nhất thì đứng trước. Talks presented: liệt kê seminar hay conference talks. References: danh sách những người viết thư giới thiệu, kèm theo địa chỉ và email. Ngoài những phần chính này ra, tùy thuộc theo từng mục đích làm CV mà có thể thêm những phần khác. Chẳng hạn, nếu đi học thì trước phần References có thể thêm Research plan (hoặc research interest): nếu làm application học sau đại học. Curriculum activities: nơi ghi những hoạt động ngoại khoá. Những liệt kê trong "Qualifications và abilities" của CV 5 không nên có trong một CV. Phần này nên để vào "covering letter" hay "statement of interest". Đặc biệt, trong CV, không nên có "Travel", "Interest" hay "Others" - sẽ làm loãng CV đi rất nhiều.
