the topic should have been " what do you think about Americans"?

It's not wealth one asks for, but just enough to preserve one's dignity, to work unhampered,to be generous, to be independent

    Dear Tao Lao ,
That was an excellent observation about America . Fair and well balanced view. America is still far away from being an utopian paradise but it does give equal opportunities to all of its people . One example : If you're poor, in a low income bracket, and want to advance your future thru college, you'll be given financial helps in the forms of federal financial aid, state/federal grants, loans , scholarships, self-help program like work-study (i.e. working for your college/university in an academic induced environment). I am talking about anyone, at any age and no bribing or connection needed . All my siblings and I benefited from that policy .
Racial discrimination and other prejudices are still pervasive but there are many laws against that . It's only one of a few countries in the world that individual can sue the government . Nobody is above the laws, including the President of the US. Case in point : President Bill Clinton, recently and President Richard Nixon in the 70's , both were dragged thru the mud of impeachment and resulted in the resignation of Nixon . How many countries in this world can top that ?
About the Vietnamese community in the US... like within any community, there are the good(s), the bad(s) and the ugly(s) . I can attest that no one is truly representing it . A few loud-mouth , vocal groups or organizations are, by no means, reflecting the sentiments of the whole community .
All in all , America is one of the best countries .

    dirosemimi,
That you said Americans were more romantic than other peoples is subjective! The fact that they had some great love movies doesn't mean that they are greater in giving roses to their lovers than other people in other nations.
You can not watch a few movies and give a final judgement about a country or people, it will be stereotype if you do that.

It's not wealth one asks for, but just enough to preserve one's dignity, to work unhampered,to be generous, to be independent
