What do you think about human cloning? Should we ban it? Why?

Human cloning should be banned. Human cloning denies the sanctity of human life. Human life is the most wonderful nature in the world. Each person has different physiognomy, personality, and talent. That diversity has made human life significant, and meaningful. If human cloning exists, probably people themselves will rather to make copies of them than to give birth to babies. Finally, all people in the world will become the copies of themselves. Therefore, human cloning needs to be prohibited by each government.
However, in my own opinion, animal, and other kinds of cloning that can be useful for human needs should be developed.
    How do u think, Johntrung?

Let me play the devil's advocate ! Set aside religious belief , social and cultural norm for a moment and think : How would you like your daughter-to-be to have the perfect 10 body and a beauty of Miss Universe and a brain of Albert Einstein (sp?) ? How about your son-to-be having a healthy body, void of all diseases and a combination of knowledge of : a business savvy mind of a Bill Gates and the intelligence of rocket scientist . Well, thru cloning, embryonic stem cells combining with therapeutic cloning can produce those superhuman species . Imagine you no longer have to worry about cancer, heart disease and your longevity stretched to 150 years or even longer than that. Cloning has the potential to give you all that . How about that ?

    To Quanbanh
thanks for your contribution . However, i think you need to clarify a bit on your viewpoints. Seems to me you oppose to human cloning because people can make copies of themselves. What's wrong with that? YOur further thoughts would be appreciated
    to TDHung,
what's wrong with extending my life and living a healthy life , bro? Everyone on this Earth always long for that.
Gene therapy does not neccessarily stem from human cloning but also other forms of medical researches. What do you think about animal cloning?? What about the ethical/unethical practice of human cloning?
I do understand the underlying opinions of your posts.Yet, you guys seemed not to explain your points clearly enough so that the readers could understand more.

Like other isues of reproductive self- determination, perhaps in the long run cloning will turn out to be an issue of women's civil rights. Perhaps it is not just about genetic doubles or identical twins. Perhaps more fundamental human rights issue are involved.
Please undertand that I am not promoting, encouraging or advocating that human should or should not be cloned. If ít ever happens in the future, then it will be right for some and not others. Some people will never be able to handle it, just like IVF ( IN-VITRO FERTILIZATION). For others it may be represent a wonderful ad***ional reproductive option. There will be legitimate concerns and isues that have to dealt with. Just as we should resist the temptation to simply say it should never be done ( or even consiđere) we must also avoid the opposite extreme plowing ahead carelessly and with reckless abandon. It is probable that regulatory guidelines and safeguards will have to be implemented. If cloning of human ever occurs, we should ensure that is benefits, not harms, those who find hope in its promises.

    to JohnTrung :
We are also unique individuals, with differing opinions, beliefs, and lifestyles. Clones would be no more similar than identical twin. On the contrary, they would be more different, because they would grow up in diffrent environments ( both gestational and childhood), at different ages, with different generational experiences. Having an exact genetic match does create a special relationship but it is not hideous nor monstrous, nor does it make us mindless robots or slave to sameness. Cloning only seems " creepier" than twinning is because it is a novelty. This whole outrageous outcry has been an insult to all identical twins.
Each baby should be a totally new and unique individual, not a " carbon copy" of someone else, don't you thinks so?

    Hi hcn8295
Thanks for your reply. I've really enjoyed your sophisticated use of vocabulary in your post.
It is entirely up to you not to align with or against human cloning. Yet, as far as i can tell, there are always issues that must be digged through, analysed and determined whether or not some extreme actions are needed to conduct to settle these issues. Despite that human cloning can bring a new wind to gene therapy and there would be certainly regulations and safeguard guidelines coming along, more people are against it than those who are advocating it. . In fact, extreme actions have been taken to clog the practice of human cloning.
You argued that human cloning might occur in the long run. I assume that you implied about both mass practice of human clonning and highly regulated human cloning. I would say that the fact that people are against human cloning is not related to the number of clones created , rather it reflects public concern about the underlying ethical issues. That's why not even a single human cloning has been conducted as of now.

    hi hcn,
Sorry if i misunderstood your points but seems to me you have conflicted with your own reasoning. You mentioned that "Having an exact genetic match does create a special relationship but it is not hideous nor monstrous", but then the next sentence you wrote "Cloning only seems " creepier" than twinning " (????)
In ad***ion, you stated that human beings are unique individuals, then how come you asserted that human clones and twins are different because they would grow up in different environments.? I mean or course each individual ( cloned or uncloned) can be raised and live through different living enviroments depending on many complex settings . Their individuality difference has nothing to do with whether they are clones or not. Are you trying to say that twins are superior to clones as they are more "real"? Think about this: if there were no tags on their shirt saying that they're clones, would these clones be fairly treated like twins?

    Hêhehe,
since i'm the one who post this topic , iwould rather read your opinions and then i'll find some arguments against them. In other words, i prefer to playing the devil's advocate

Well, I think what TDHung said above is about biological cloning, not human cloning. Any one agree with me?
From hcn8295: Each baby should be a totally new and unique individual, not a " carbon copy" of someone else, don't you thinks so?----------> Whatta great sentence!
To JohnTrung: how about what u think about human cloning? Would you think it's acceptable or not? Many people here are looking forward to hear your point of view!
