Actually, some members (including me) was there yesterday. It''s unfair that the meeting was cancelled at such short notice, since not everyone can be online 24/24 to check the information.
To be honest, I was quite dissappointed because contributors (in general) are supposed to be there to handle the situation instead of sitting at home making announcements at the last minute.

Today, I''''''''m gonna share with you some of my understanding about the uses of a very interesting word, AFRAID. ]Do you know how many ways to use this adjective? Theoritically, there are at least seven cases that this word can be used. Basically, however, I will tell you the three most common situations in our daily conversations]:-
The first and the most common usage of " AFRAID" is when we want to politely tell someone something that maybe upset, disappoint, annoy or even worry them.Eg: I''''''''m afraid you will lose your chances if you don''''''''t come and see us at HYEC.
    - The next most common use of "AFRAID" is to be frightened, but less stronger.Eg: He is afraid of sworms = He is frightened of sworms ( the latter sentence is slightly stronger).
    - Less common uses of "AFRAID" are used as a way of saying either " YES" or "NO".
    AFRAID + not = NO
    AFRAID + so = YESEg1:
A: Are you doing anything nice this weekend?
    B: I''''''''m afraid not , I have to work.
    Eg2:
A: Can I speak to Mr Loi? ( Mr Loi is HYEC''''''''s leader :D)
    B: I''''''''m a fraid not , he''''''''s not available at the moment.
    Eg3:
    A: Are you leaving now?
B: I''''''''m afraid so, my wife is waiting for me at home. :D

    Continue:
If you are afraid of someone or afraid to do something, you are frightened because you think that something very unpleasant is going to happen to you.
She did not seem at all afraid...
I was afraid of the other boys...
I''''m still afraid to sleep in my own bedroom.
    = frightened
2 ADJ v-link ADJ, usu ADJ for n

If you are afraid for someone else, you are worried that something horrible is going to happen to them.
She''''s afraid for her family in Somalia.

3 ADJ v-link ADJ, ADJ that, ADJ of -ing, ADJ to-inf

If you are afraid that something unpleasant will happen, you are worried that it may happen and you want to avoid it.
I was afraid that nobody would believe me...
The Government is afraid of losing the election...

4 PHRASE PHR with cl, PHR that politeness
