How Do We Fix The Imbalance of Vietnam?Ts Education System?​

The education system in Vietnam puts a lot of emphasis on book learning with very little attention paid to the development of well-rounded individuals who are in touch with the practical needs of society. The problem is made worse by our schools?T over-reliance on written exams and parents?T reluctance to let their children gain real-life experiences outside schools.
All of this is changing, however. The 8X and 9X generations are increasingly taking charge of their own destiny. Whether by volunteering, starting their own businesses, joining special-interest social organizations or by self-studying, these youngsters are actively acquiring the skills and knowledge they need *****cceed. In doing that, they?Tre actually helping schools, teachers and parents to reform our education system to be more flexible and attuned to Vietnam?Ts needs.
Discussion Questions
1 What practical experiences or knowledge do you think young people need *****cceed in life and work?
2 Which of the above experiences can and cannot be provided by schools and parents? Which experiences must be our own responsibility?
3 What activities can a young person do to actively gain practical experiences?
4 What kinds of organization are needed *****pport the above activities? (Can it be a club, a charitable organization, or just a circle of friends?)

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT​

Some says that love is blind, especially love at first sight! They think that the overwhelming rush of emotion when you''re "head over heels" with someone you first meet cannot be sustained. And when these feelings subside, the love will fade. Therefore, these people think that love at first sight should not be trusted.
On the other hand, many people say that your first feelings are usually your true feelings, so you should trust them. Many others also say that love is always blind anyway, so if you believe in love at all, you should believe in love at first sight!
So what about you? Do you believe in love at first sight?
Discussion Questions

Do you think that the feelings you have when you meet someone for the first time are important? How important are they in making sure that the person is right for you?
On the other hand, do you think that your feelings about someone should be tested with time? How should they be tested?
Do you think that, in one year, you can learn enough about someone to decide if you can have a happy marriage with him/her? How about two years? Three years? How long is enough?
Do you think that you can predict how love will evolve over time?

SHOULD WE BAN SMOKING IN PUBLIC PLACES?

There''''''''''''''''s very clear evidence that smoking causes severe damage to our heath. According to a very extensive research in the UK [1], smoking is the top risk factor for lung cancer (90%) and for all cancer-related death (29%). It is, therefore, not surprising that governments around the world have taken steps to discourage people from smoking. From Boston, New York, Hong Kong to Tokyo, local governments have enacted laws banning smoking in public places like schools, offices, parks, stations, etc. Even in restaurants, bars and cafe, smoking is prohibited unless it''''''''''''''''s done in smoker-only rooms.
Since 2005, the Vietnamese Health Ministry is drafting a law banning smoking in some but not all public spaces. But until now, the law has not been enacted due to various oppositions from the tobacco industry as well as from some government officials. As the result, according to WHO [2], Vietnam still has one of the highest smoking rates in the world with 56.1% of men and 1.8% of women being active smokers.
So what is your opinion on this issue? Should we enact a law to ban smoking in all public spaces?

UNIFORMS FOR SCHOOL GIRLS​

On 16th June, Ministry of Education and Training (MoE&T) demonstrated a law draft concerning wearing uniforms of pupils and students, including school girls all over the country.
According to that, in summer, school girls have one of the following choices for their uniform:

Conventional Ao Dai.
White T-shirt and Trousers.
Skirts.
Some supporting for the law say:
Banning school girls from wearing skirts which are not long enough to cover the knees is necessary. It is good for them to enhance their discipline at school. According to them, moreover, such kind of uniform is considered as a pretentiousness of Vietnamese pupils and students for style of foreign youths, especially through some American, Korean or Japanese films...
However, some others against the law suppose:
School girls should be allowed to wear short skirts because long ones are not beautiful.Girls can not be dynamic and show up their lovely legs. Ad***ionally, itâ?Ts absolutely normal in other countries...

HYECâ?Ts members will now become fashion designers to create appropriate uniforms meeting the above requirements for school girls in order for the law soon to come into force.
