What event is the reason for Easter?

    Why was Jesus crucified?
Vocabulary: find the following in the text, match the word with its synonym/definition
    1. To crucify A. A holy book for Christians, including orthodox, protestant and catholic, and Jews.
    2. The Bible B. Very old, from around 1000+ years ago
    3. Ancient C To come back to life after dying
    4. Tomb D. To remember and commemorate a particular event, often in a party/happy atmosphere
    5. To preach E. A place where a dead body is placed, often in a room or **** specially designed for it
    6. To celebrate F. To tell people a strong message, often a religious one
    7. Full moon G. To hang a person from a cross to kill them, slowly and painfully, often with nails through their hands or feet to hold them on the cross
    7. To return from the dead H. When the moon is complete
Easter is a Christian holiday. According to the Bible, it is the day when Jesus Christ is said to have returned from the dead. Christians believe that Easter is the holiest day in the year. Easter is a Christian Holy Day celebrated on the first Sunday, following the first full moon, following the first day of spring. Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday, following the first full moon, at least 14 days after the Spring Equinox. This means it is celebrated in March or April, most of the time.
The word Easter comes from the ancient German word for April.
Christians believe that Jesus was killed on the cross about 2000 years ago by the Romans in a city called Jerusalem. The people who killed Him did so because they believed that He was causing trouble for the government and because He was claiming to be God. When they crucified Him (meaning they nailed him to a cross), they even hung a sign over His head to make fun of Him for this reason.
Christians believe that two days after Jesus was killed (on Easter Sunday), his followers searched in His tomb and found that His body was gone. Later, Jesus is said to have appeared to them and preached to them. It was because of this that His followers knew that Jesus was God, just as He said.
