1.Preview - if it''s long and hard
Previewing is especially useful for getting a general idea of heavy
like long magazine or newspaper articles, business reports, and
nonfiction books.
It can give you as much as half the comprehension in as little as
one-tenth the time. For example, you should be able to preview eight or
ten 100-page reports in an hour. After previewing, you''ll be able to
decide which reports (or which parts of the reports) are worth a closer
look.
Here''s how to preview: read the entire first two paragraphs of
whatever you''ve chosen. Next read only the first sentence of each
successive paragraph. Then read the entire last two paragraphs.
Previewing doesn''t give you all the details. But it does keep you
from speding time on things you don''t really want - or need - to read.
Notice that previewing gives you a quick, overall view of long,
unfamiliar material. For short, light reading, there''s a better
technique.
2. Skim - if it''s short and simple:
Skimming is a good way to get a general idea of light reading -
like popular magazines or the sports and entertainment sections of the
paper.
You should be able to skim a weekly popular magazine or the second
section of your daily paper in less than half the time it takes you to
read it now.
Skimming is also a great way to review material you''ve read before.
Here''s how to skim: Think of your eyes as magnets. Force them to
move fast. Sweep them across each and every line of type. Pick up only
a few key words in each line.
Everybody skims differently.
You and I may not pick up exactly the same words when we skim the
same piece, but we''ll both get a pretty similar idea of what it''s all
about.

Skimming can give you a very good idea of the story in about half
the words - and in less than half the time it''d take to read every word.
So far, you''ve seen that previewing and skimming can give you a
general idea bout content - fast. But neither technique can promise
more than 50 percents comprehension, because you aren''t reading all the
words. (Nobody gets something for nothing in the reading game).
To read faster and understand most - if not all - of what you read, you need to know a third technique.
3. Cluster - to increase speed and comprehension:
Most of us learned to read by looking at each word in a sentence - one at a time.
Like this:
My-brother-Russell-thinks-monster...
You probably still read this way sometimes, especially when the
words are difficult. Or when the words have an extra-special meaning -
in a poem, a Shakespearean play, or a contract. And that''s O.K.
But word-by-word reading is a rotten way to ready faster. It actually cuts down on your speed.
Clustering trains you to look at groups of words instead of one at
a time - to increase you speed enormously. For most of us, clustering
is a totally different way of seeing what we read.

Learning to read cluster is not something you eyes do naturally. It takes constant practise.
Here''s how to go about it. Pick something light to read. Read it as
fast as you can. Concentrate on seeing three or four words at once
rather than one word at a time. Then reread the piece at your normal
speed to see what you missed the first time.
Try a second piece.First cluster, then reread to see what you missed in this one.
When you can read in clusters without missing much the first time,
your speed has increased. Pratise them fitteen minutes every day and
you might pick up the techneque in a week or so (But don''t be
disappointed if it takes longer. Clustering everything takes time and
pratice).
So now you have 3 ways to help you read faster. Preview to cut down
on unnessary heavy reading. Skim to get a quick, general idea of light
reading. And cluster to increase you speed and comprehension.

CÁC CÁCH DÙNG THÊM CỦA IF
Nhắc đến IF chúng ta thường nhắc đến 3 hay 4 loại If nhưng đằng sau đó If còn có nhiều loại nữa ,,,
1.If....then :Nếu...thì
VD: If she can''t come to us,then we will have to go and see her
2.If dùng trong dạng câu không phải điều kiện: Động từ ở các mệnh đề diễn biến bình thường theo thời gian của chính nó
VD:If you want to learn a musical instrument,you have to practice
If you did not do much maths at school,you will find economics difficult to understand
If that was Marry,why didn''t she stop and stay hello
3.If....should = If... happen to... =If... should happen to... diễn đạt sự không chắc chắn
If you should happen to pass a supermarket,perhaps you could get some eggs (ngỗ nhỡ anh có tình cờ đi qua chợ có lẽ mua cho em ít đường)
4.If...was/were to...
-Diễn đạt điều kiện không có thật hoặc tưởng tượng ở tương lai
VD: If the boss was/were to come in now (= if the boss came in now) ,we would be in real trouble
What would we do if I was/were to lose my job
-Hoặc có thể diễn đạt một ý lịch sự khi đưa ra lời đề nghị
Vd: If you were to move your hair a bit,we could all sit down
(nếu anh vui lòng dich ghế của anh ra một chút thì chúng ta có thể cùng ngồi được)
Note:Cấu trúc này tuyệt đối không được dùng với các động từ tĩnh hoặc chỉ trạng thái tư duy.
Vd:Correct:If I knew her name,I would tell you
Incorrect:If I was/were to know...
5.If it+ to be+ not+ for : Nếu không vì,nếu không nhờ vào.
-Thời hiện tại:
If it wasn''t/weren''t for the children,that couple wouldn''t have any thing to talk aboult
(nếu không vì những đứa con thì vợ chồng nhà ấy chả có chuyện gì để mà nói)
-thời quá khứ:
If it hadn''t been for your help,I don''t know what we would have done
(Nếu không nhờ vào sự giúp đỡ của anh thì tôi cũng không biết là chúng tôi sẽ làm gì đây)
6."Not" đôi khi được thêm vào những động từ sau "IF" để bày tỏ sự nghi ngờ không chắc chắn(Có nên... hay không )
I wonder if we shouldn''t ask the doctor to look at Mary
7.It would... if+ subject+ would...(sẽ là... nếu- không được dùng trong văn viết )
VD:It would be better if they would tell every body in advance
(sẽ là tốt hơn nếu họ không kể cho mọi người từ trước )
How would we feel if this would happen to our family
(ta sẽ cảm thấy thế nào nếu điều này xảy ra đối với gia đình chúng ta )
8.If...''d have...'' have ùng trong văn nói không dùng trong văn viết ,diễn đạt điều kiện không thể xảy ra trong quá khứ.
If I''d have known,I''d have told you
If she''d have recognized him it would have benn funny
9.If+ preposition+ noun/verb...(subject+ be bị lược bỏ)
If in doubt,ask for help (= if you are in doubt)
If about to go on a long journey,try to have a good nichts sleep
(=If you are about to go on...)
10. If được dùng khá phổ biến với một số từ như " any/ anything/ever/ not " diễn đạt ý phủ định
VD: I''m not angry .If anything,I feel a little surprised
(tôi không giận dữ gì đâu. mà trái lại tôi cảm thấy hơi ngạc nhiên )
-Thành ngữ này còn diễn đạt ý ướm thử:Nếu có...
VD: I''d say he was more like a father,if anything
(tôi xin nói rằng ông ấy còn hơn cả một người cha,nếu có thể nói thế )
He seldom if ever travel abroard
(Anh ta chả mấy khi đi ra nước ngoài)
Usually,if not always,we write "cannot" as one word
(thông thương nhưng không phải là luôn luôn)
11. If+ Adjective= although(cho dù là )
-Nghĩa không mạnh bằng althought-Dùng để diễn đạt quan điểm riêng hoặc vấn đề gì đó không quan trọng
Vd:His style,if simple,is pleasant to read
(văn phong của ông ta,cho dù đơn giản,thì đọc cũng thú)
-Cấu trúc này có thể thay băng may... ,but
His style may be simple,but it is pleasant to read

Đúng thế, từ tuần này, main room chỉ chờ đúng 9rưỡi là bắt đầu, ai đến muộn, thiệt trước tiên là hok được nge nhạc ná, cái nữa là fải ngồi chờ chia fòng mới được tham gia đấy ạh, nếu ko buổi sinh hoạt sẽ rất lộn xộn, cảnh báo cảnh báo đấy, mọi người hãy có ý thức cùng xây dựng nhé

àh cái vụ thi Miss đề nghị step mother loa loa cho cả nhà để chung tay góp sức nào, àh lúc nãy xem thời sự thấy bà thản đang tíu tít học nấu ăn ở trung tâm dạy ngề hoàn kiếm

hà hà Ms. President nhà ta mà đã vào bếp thì tay dao tay thớt, cái/con gì lại gần cũng phải thành mấy mảnh bay ra tuốt. Cũng hên là lên thời sự áh, chứ lên "Chuyện lạ Việt Nam" thì...
